How to create a backup of all workbooks

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me how can I create a backup of all workbooks in Oracle Discoverer Desktop without having to save them one at a time?
Thanks.

Hi,
This is only available with Discoverer 10g. If you are still using 4i then you have to use the Discoverer Admin command line.
There is no way to back up the workbooks using Discoverer desktop.

  • How can we take backup of all the RDL'S existing at Report server dynamically at one time

    How can we take backup of all the RDL'S existing at Report server dynamically at one time ? I want to take backup of all the reports existing at the report server dynamically at one time only. currently I'm able to take backup of the reports folder wise
    using VBScript. and I have to pass the folder names again and again. I want this to be happened for all the reports of all the folders at single shot only using VBScript.

    Hi DineshRemash,
    Based on my research, we can store the following VB Script to a text file, then modify the file name extension from .txt to .rss.
    Dim rootPath As String = "C:\Reports"
    Sub Main()
    Dim items As CatalogItem() = _
    rs.ListChildren("/", true)
    For Each item As CatalogItem in items
    If item.Type = ItemTypeEnum.Folder Then
    CreateDirectory(item.Path)
    Else If item.Type = ItemTypeEnum.Report Then
    SaveReport(item.Path)
    End If
    Next
    End Sub
    Sub CreateDirectory(path As String)
    path = GetLocalPath(path)
    System.IO.Directory.CreateDirectory(path)
    End Sub
    Sub SaveReport(reportName As String)
    Dim reportDefinition As Byte()
    Dim document As New System.Xml.XmlDocument()
    reportDefinition = rs.GetReportDefinition(reportName)
    Dim stream As New MemoryStream(reportDefinition)
    document.Load(stream)
    document.Save(GetLocalPath(reportName) + ".rdl")
    End Sub
    Function GetLocalPath(rsPath As String) As String
    Return rootPath + rsPath.Replace("/", "\")
    End Function
    Then navigate to the folder contains the script, we can directly run the below command from the run menu:
    rs -s
    http://aa/ ReportServer -i download.rss
    We can modify the rootpath to point at whaterver fold you’d like to download the RDL files.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create an object alive all the time on a server side

    Hi,
    I work on an Intranet with J2EE technologies. I need an object to do several tasks in background on the server side. Like start scheduled processes on a database and files, stocked on the server. What is the way to do this. I thought to use the JNDI by declaring the object in the Deployement Descriptor, and to manage a timer within.
    I don't know if this works.
    Anyway, my question is how to create an object on the server that is ALIVE ALL THE TIME and visible by the other objects running in the same VM.
    Thank's.

    This may not be the correct design, but I had success doing the following:
    1. Create an Stateless EJB that does a task, i.e. update a database table.
    2. Create a subclass of java.util.TimerTask to call the EJB methods.
    3. Kick off the TimerTask from a servlet.init method.
    Seems to work pretty well to do scheduled tasks, such as refreshing lookup tables. I would imagine the same could be done with an MBean, but I haven't had time to fully understand JMX yet. (It's on the list).
    As for event driven procedures, that can be done through a servlet interface.
    You may also wish to review a scheduler here: http://www.part.net/quartz.html. Note, I have NOT even looked at it yet, so I have no clue if it's any good. But, it is on my list of tools to evaluate (that's a long list) someday when my head's above water. Have a look, and caveat emptor.
    Hope this helps,

    How to create it fast on SBO? How to create add on module to modify the price list in all items so I modify the price list is faster? I don't know relationship the tables to change the price list on SBO. Please let me know...
    Thanks in advance for your help....

    Dear Mr Adrianto,
    In the stock module under price list there are different options. It could be possible to change the prices of Parent items according to thier children's prices.
    Also, you can use the option: Special prices for BP, if you need to change the prices for on BP.
    There is also the discount group if you want to reduce the price of items for the whole group. Please note that you can also increase prices when you use a percentage > 100%.

  • How to Obtain Detailed List of All Workbooks in Oracle Discoverer Database

    Hi,
    Is it possible to create a query that would give me a list of all workbooks in my Oracle Discoverer Database that includes what tables were selected to create the query including any conditions?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi Becky,
    Discoverer should be bundled with the EUL V5 Business area. I'm not sure which versions have it, so i'm hoping its all of them. It allows you to construct reports on the workbooks in the database, when they were last run etc. I'm not sure if you can report on database tables though.
    I found some useful documentation on installing and using this here http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B10270_01/eul_stat.htm#1004700
    I hope this of use to you.

    I  have one Database, and I want to create one readonly backup so that If give that to someone they can just read the Data. Can we do this in sql server.
    Regards Vikas Pathak
    You cannot create readonly backup in SQL Server as a fact there is no concept of read only backup. If you give somebody your backup they can see data and can restore and modify it but that wont affect your original database unless you restore that backup on
    prod server

  • How to take the Backup of all XI-Design Objects(Repository, Directroty,SLD)

    Deal All,
          Actually I am facing problems with XI Server.
    we have decided to reinstall the server. So, please tell me how to take the back up for all the scenarios that has been created in that. And also tell me how to take the back up for all the things.
    Then how the backups can be used in Newly initialed XI-Sys.
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Danab

    Hi,
    In your IR and ID , you can export the Objects as TPZ files which can be reimported later.
    To expoert, select the SWCV in your IR or the Configuartion Scenario in ID and then Tools --> Export and then specify the directoy in your XI server to which export should be done and then export the same.
    Now, they will be available as TPZ files. When you need to reimport, tools --> Import and you can import.

  • How to create a backup for VISTA?

    I bought my computer one year ago. there was no CD/DVD included for the Vista operation system.
    Now my external heard drive died, I can't recover the information, where I had the backup.
    It wasn't me who did the backup the first time, so can I do a new backup? How do I do it and which program is best to use?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hello
    The whole story is not described well and we don't know what do you mean exactly.
    The question is: why you write about external HDD?
    External HDD has nothing to do with recovery image.
    Recovery image can be created if recovery image is originally placed on second partition in folder caller HDDRecovery. If the image is not on the right place Toshiba recovery disc creator cannot find it and recovery DVD cannot be created. I presume this is exactly what happens with your notebook so I think you will not be able to create recovery disc.
    You have two options now:
    # To order original recovery disc by Toshiba - https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
    # install Vista using Microsoft installation disc. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you must install alone. you can find them on Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

  • How to create a view for all Service Requests that are not approved by reviewer

    Hallo,
    I want to create a view in the Service Requests library that shows all SRs that are not approved. How to configure condition that says: if a SR has related Review Activity which is In Progress, show that SRs?
    I couldn't find this when creating the view. Thank you.

    So here's the first problem with that: Which review activity? a SR can contain multiple RAs, so how do we decide if an arbitrary SR is approved or not?
    As to the specific language you use (Any child RA is In Progress) you might want to look at the criteria from the default Change approval view, which does something similar:
    <QueryCriteria Adapter="omsdk://Adapters/Criteria" xmlns="http://tempuri.org/Criteria.xsd">
    <Criteria>
    <FreeformCriteria>
    <Freeform>
    <Criteria xmlns="http://Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Core.Criteria/">
    <Expression>
    <And>
    <Expression>
    <SimpleExpression>
    <ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Property>$Context/Path[Relationship='CoreActivity!System.WorkItemContainsActivity' TypeConstraint='CoreActivity!System.WorkItem.Activity.ReviewActivity']/Property[Type='CoreActivity!System.WorkItem.Activity']/Status$</Property>
    </ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Operator>Equal</Operator>
    <ValueExpressionRight>
    <Value>$MPElement[Name="CoreActivity!ActivityStatusEnum.Active"]$</Value>
    </ValueExpressionRight>
    </SimpleExpression>
    </Expression>
    <Expression>
    <SimpleExpression>
    <ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Property>$Context/Property[Type='CoreChange!System.WorkItem.ChangeRequest']/Status$</Property>
    </ValueExpressionLeft>
    <Operator>Equal</Operator>
    <ValueExpressionRight>
    <Value>$MPElement[Name="CoreChange!ChangeStatusEnum.InProgress"]$</Value>
    </ValueExpressionRight>
    </SimpleExpression>
    </Expression>
    </And>
    </Expression>
    </Criteria>
    </Freeform>
    </FreeformCriteria>
    </Criteria>
    </QueryCriteria>
    This is a simple AND criteria with two componets. one looking for a Review Activity (TypeConstraint='CoreActivity!System.WorkItem.Activity.ReviewActivity') which is related to the targetting CR by Contains Activity ($Context/Path[Relationship='CoreActivity!System.WorkItemContainsActivity';
    Context in this... context means the CR targeted by the view) where it's status (/Property[Type='CoreActivity!System.WorkItem.Activity']/Status$) is In Progress ($MPElement[Name="CoreActivity!ActivityStatusEnum.Active"]$). The other is filtering
    for the target change request's status ( $Context/Property[Type='CoreChange!System.WorkItem.ChangeRequest']/Status$) is In Progress ($MPElement[Name="CoreChange!ChangeStatusEnum.InProgress"]$).
    You could convert the second criteria to point to SRs and SR status values, and then use the similar text for the first criteria. i'd recommend
    Anton's Advanced View Editor (or
    the free version) to do the criteria adjustment.

  • How to create mirror backup of my Time Machine external hard drive

    I am running Time Machine back ups for my MacPro with OS 10.8.5, purchased in 2008.  I am saving the Time Machine back ups to an OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro 2TB external hard drive.  I have a second 2TB external hard drive and would like to mirror what's backing up to the first 2TB external hard drive.  I feel that it gives me better odds if I plug the hard drive in one day and it isn't recognized, or some calamity happens to my computer and everything goes downhill from there, which seems to be the rule rather than the exception.  Currently I store the external hard drives in a safe in my home between uses.  They don't spend 24/7 hooked to my computer.
    I would like to know that I always have two copies of the same Time Machine back up on hand.
    Thanks,

    Drives fail. Often in the first six months, and after that, they may last 5-6 years. Or not. A weak (not just bad) sector block is usually the best indication. Having spare drives on hand should be a must, and rotate primary drives to backup or archive every two years maybe after giving them a long erase - to ease your fears and hopefully find the worst possible error.
    RAID6 is useful for holding large video catalogues and projects - and then mirror your RAID6 to another RAID6.
    SoftRAID 5 http://www.softraid.com will scan drives in the background for weak blocks, monitor I/O better for read/write errors (without impacting performance is important) and can be well worth its $140 ish price (worth it in tech support alone, too if ever you need it)
    A couple programs will write the SMART status to the system log and show the numbers of used and remaining spare blocks. That is something a large study of disk storage revealed. And in today's world, storage needs and the need to "change the light blubs" on a basis before one fails is a must in massive data cloud and big data mining.
    Apple's Mac Pro and the RAID card is not "hot swap" capable, though the motherboard in the Classic Mac Pro actually could as designed by Intel. And hot swapping is a handy feature - create a 3 drive mirror array, pull one, you still have two and let SoftRAID do a better rebuild in the background adding a new 3rd mirror drive.
    Two drive mirrors are weak and not all that great, in my estimation.
    TimeMachine is there to get people to at least have a automatic ish do it and forget it, hopefully, versus none at all. A good beginning. It also turns 8 this September and has slowly, gradually, hopefully, matured. I might buy Disk Warrior 5 if only to check the backup catalogue for integrity though at $99 a waste for most and better spent on another backup drive or something. But you never want to be in need of Data Rescue 4, another $99 product.

  • How to create a Backup of a BPC Application Set?

    Hello,
    I have been browsing the forum for a short while now but didn't find the answer that I needed, I work for a BPC Consutlancy and would like to know how an Application Set can be BACKED UP in the NetWeaver using the Data Warehousing Workbench in NetWeaver BI 7.0
    I have searched the online SAP Help and that does not seem to cover this area, although there was a recall to Server Manager but I don't think you can do BackUp's using the Server Manager.
    I came  across a post last night that mentioned a third party tool by RIG that is used for Migration but there is also a tool available to create Backups of AppSets.
    I have a requirement to set up a BACKUP and TRANSPORT STRATEGY, and would like to know that aside from using SAP TRANSPORTS does the facility exist directly using SAP NW Data Warehousing Workbench to BACKUP an Application set?
    I would appreciate the advice.
    Thanks
    Saqib.

    Hi,
    The way I do a backup of an AppSet is as follows:
    1) Log on to the server
    2) Open the Server Manager (program)
    3) Via AppSet (see top of the window of SAP Server Manager) > click on: Backup AppSet
    4) Indicate which AppSet you want to backup + the location of the backup file you want it in
    5) Wait for the backup to take place
    Cheers!
