How to create a custom ear file and deploy it onto a freshly created oc4j

Hi,
Wanted to know that how should i go about creating a custom EAR file or for that matter any application and deploy it onto a test oc4j instance created within the 10.1.3 Home of Oracle Apps R12.
I believe in a standalone Application server installation it is quite simple to deploy an application by creating an oc4j instance using the AS console ,but not very sure about how to go about it in Oracle Apps .
N.B:I have been able to create a test oc4j instance by the name of Test and able to start and stop it using the opmn of 10.1.3 oracle home.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

can you please post this question to one of the Apps forums if your main concern is to deploy applications in the context of Oracle Apps?
It seems that you don't have a problem in creating the EAR file in JDev.

Creating a single ear file for SOAP plus wsdl architecture

We are supporting an application which initially supported only SOAP RPC calls to connect to other applications via webmethods. Recently we have developed another module using .wsdl approach and have deployed this module separately using a separate ear file.
The details of the application are as below:
--> Application is developed in J2EE hence a J2EE container is required.
--> Oracle 10g v9.0.4.1 is being used
--> for database we have Oracle 9i RDBMS Enterprise Edition v9.2.0.6
--> The applicationn is developed in the ODC based on Solaris 9 / Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g AS v9.0.4.1.
--> Application and SOAP are deployed in the same Oracle 10g instance.
Now that we have 2 ear files deployed on the Oracle OC4J server , we are being pushed by business to deploy a single ear file to implement both the functionalities.
Please suggest if there are any Possibilities to create a single ear file to deploy such an application supporting both SOAP calls and wsdl approach. If we can, please assist. We do not want to make changes to the existing as-is soap calls and we also want to continue using the new module using the wsdl approach.
Please also suggest the possibilities of any conflict that could arise as a result of deploying a single ear?

Unlike in 4.0 we wont have EAR file directly to import. First Basis people need to setup NWDI where in they import all packages. Once it is ready, in NWDS(dev env) we need to import configuration which will internally impors Development Components and their dependencies. Once you have everything in locla machine, we can create project make EAR FILE...

If you would like to create a package/procedure in order to solve this problem consider using the UTL_FILE in built package, here are a few steps to get you going:
1. Get your DBA to create directory object in oracle using the following command:
create directory TEST_DIR as ‘directory_path’;
Note: This directory is on the server.
2. Grant read,write on directory directory_object_name to username;
You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.
3. Logon as the user as mentioned above.
Sample code read plain text file code, you can modify this code to suit your need (i.e. read a csv file)

You can limit the size of system log.
The size of the application server's System Log is determined by the
following SAP profile parameters. Once the current System Log reaches
the maximum file size, it gets moved to the old_file and and a new
System Log file gets created. The number of past days messages in the
System Log depends on the amount/activity of System Log messages and the
max file size. Once messages get rolled off the current and old files,
they are no longer retrievable.

Set a password for your user; create other user accounts for when other people want to use it. You can create a "guest" login which gets wiped after every logout, if that's more appropriate for them.

If you use iTunes' default settings then when you add a file to iTunes it places a copy of the file in the iTunes media folder and it leaves the original in place. The exception is when you drag it to the Automatically Add To iTunes folder.
It does not convert the file. You can delete the original if you wish.

Java files from a EAR file and from inner (inside EAR)

I want to read all Java files from a EAR file and from inner (inside EAR) EAR or WAR file with out unpacking.
suppose "Demo.ear" contaions the following files:
abc.java
programs / a.java
programs / b.java
src / index.java
src / com / myFolder / main.java
src.war
and suppose "src.war" again contains some java files inside differenet folders.
The main problem is that i can read all java files from "Demo.ear" but unable to reading from "src.war" b'coz my program is using JarFile class constructor which needs a archive file path, So only top level archive having the path but not the inner archives.
So, pls help me out to this problems

what should be the size in MB (not in %) of autogrowth. based on what we have to determine the ideal size of file auto growth.

It's very difficult to give a definitive answer on this. Best principal is to size your database correctly in advance so that you never have to autogrow, of course in reality that isn't always practical.
The setting you use is really dictated by the expected growth in your files. Given that the size is relatively small why not set it to 1gb on the datafile(s) and 512mb on the log file? The important thing is to monitor it on an on-going basis to see if that's
the appropriate amount.
One thing you should do is enable instant file initialization by granting the service account Perform Volume Maintenance tasks in group policy. This will allow the data files to grow quickly when required, details here:

Also, it possible to query the default trace to find autogrowth events, if you wanted you could write an alert/sql job based on this
