How to create a "fast forward" effect?

Hi there,
I want to create a fast forward effect of a section of video that I have. I have speeded up the section to 2000% normal speed, and added a noise effect. That looks ok.
Now, ideally, I would like to perfect the effect by adding the classic ">>" fast forward image, flashing on and off, and also by having the audio sounding sped up also.
Can somebody please offer some guidance on how to go about that?
Thanks very much guys,
Mike

How do I create the same title effects as in this video?
By titles I mean the ones that say Exterior Front, Exterior Back, Foyer, etc...

I don't know how to have the black bar slide in, then have the word slide in, then have both slide out.
    I'm totally new at Premiere.

It didn't appear that the words were sliding in. Rather, they were being wiped on.
Information on using the Titler is here.
Since you're new to Premiere Pro, you should begin at the beginning and work through the basic learning materials for Premiere Pro.

  • How to create the "300" Movie Effect in FCP

Would be eternally grateful if someone could tell me how to create the 300 movie look in Final Cut Pro. I've scoured the Interwebs for a tutorial with no luck.

I think it's not as hard as people think, it just looks intimidating because there are no popup windows. Everything in the interface is on the top of the rooms. Just think if FCP had things this way...
I learned to use color in a class in Cupertino (I'm a certified trainer in Color and FCP) but gotta say, it's just not "Mac-like" in it's interface. It was originally written for Unix as was Shake, so they look similar... but they really aren't that hard to learn. The certified training course in Color is only a 2 day affair. I could teach anybody color on a one on one in one day. Doesn't make them a colorist just as learning FCP doesn't make them an editor... but the buttons? yep 1 day.
FCPs full training is 8 days for full level 2 certification, and even then, it doesn't cover everything you could do in FCP...
I teach a 15 week course in FCP and STILL don't have time to teach it all. So what's easier to learn? Color.

  • How to create a rollover button effect in Captivate 7?

    Hi,
I recently upgraded from Captivate 6 to Captivate 7 and am curious to know how I can create a rollover state for a SmartShape button. Basically, let's say I have a SmartShape being used as a button. What I want is to have the button have a glow effect and a shadow effect each time the mouse is hovered over it. Is there an easier way than having two objects on the slide -- one as the normal state and one the mouse hoever image. What I'm thinking is that the mouse hovered state image will have it's 'Visible in Output' set as unchecked and I can use an Advanced Action to show the object on mouse hover. Perhaps I can have the mouse hovered state image as a rollover SmartShape too?
Nonetheless, this looks like too much work. If I have 10 clickables on the page for which I want rollover effects, I would need to have 10 additional objects with their rollover states -- just seems like too much, but perhaps that's the Captivate way. Or I am I missing the obvious?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sean

Most people would say the easiest way to achieve what you are talking about would be to just create your own custom image button in a graphics editor and give the Over state image having the glow effect that you want.
If you decide to go that route, this tutorial describes the process of creating an image button:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate/create-custom-image-buttons
Another possibility is that you can use the Infosemantics Event Handler widget to trigger an Apply Effect action and use the Glow filter as the effect.
However, this may require some tweaking since it's not that easy to time effects that are applied via an advanced action.

  • How to create several fast loading big albums in iWeb using your own templates

hi guys - here comes one for the real cracks.
i am trying to create a nice PICTURES page containing about 100 albums with each of it containing up to 100 individual pictures on my website, where i also have several videos online and (soon) audio files - everything available for download.
my problem is that the main "My album" page in iWeb will always ALL sub albums on just one page, which would in my case lead to endless loading time - i have now 30 albums online and it already takes ages to display all of them.
so i want to create several album pages, each of them displaying only 6 individual sub albums and this way allow a decent page loading time. this is usually done by just adding a new "my album" page using one of apple's templates. and here is my problem: my web site design is made from scratch and is not similar to any of apple's templates. since iWeb does not allow you to save your individual pages as "templates" i had to go a long way around, using iWebsites and merge a newly created picture template page (containing my own duplicated "my album") with ma main site. for some reason this did almost work out but in the end not really - if you are interested have a look at the separate discussion in this forum
https://discussions.apple.com/message/15532580#15532580  (how to save any iWeb page as a template)
so my question here is if any of you know of any other way to achieve my goal of getting several individual main albums containing 6 subalbums (this way it fits on one page and allow NOT having to scroll down at all) and this in a way which will fit the design of my web page. have a look at the now existing pictures page and imagine that i want more or less the same but divided in individual pages containing only 6 albums per page:
    http://www.giorgiodellapietra.com/giorgiodellapietra.com/PICTURES/PICTURES.html
here an example of how it should look like in the end:
    http://www.giorgiodellapietra.com/giorgiodellapietra.com/PICTURES/Seiten/MIXED.h tml#0
thank you very much for your impact.
    cheers
    george

    hi folks
don't worry, i have given up as it really seems iWeb can not do this.
however, i have identified 2 possible solutions. the one i have chosen is to simply add new albums by choosing one of apple's templates and then modify it until it fits my design. i have created 15 additional main albums this way and it took me (because of the "mass production") only 15 minutes per album to get it done. now i have enough empty albums spare for the next few years...
the other way to accomplish what i wanted would have been to make the main "my album" page invisible for visitors and use it only for administration (so it can contain 100 albums but nobody would ever have to wait until they load). then create a new page which i call picture (copy any of my other pages and modify it) on which i will post some "virtual albums", which means use any picture out of an album and create a direct link to the album. i could use a vary low resolution version of the main pic and this way i would have a "picture" page which loads extremely fast but is actually nothing else than a link to the real album. then just copy this page as many times as i need albums and change the pictures and the links in it. the advantage is that it loads very fast, the disadvantage that i loose the ability to scroll through albums by moving the mouse over it, as what you see is of course only a picture and not the album.
i have chosen the first version because it has the advantage to be able to move albums as one pleases. however, both versions would be fine.
    it's already done and eaten.
thanks anyway for reading yourself through this...
    cheers

  • How to create a faster function?

    Dear all,
I am trying to create function which can replace certain words with hyperlink in sql. When I call the function as query in sql, its
takes a very long time to execute the query, more than 2-3min. I assumed this is because, the tag_libary table
has around 300,000 records and iterating through large number of records, would consume a lot of processing time.
    CREATE FUNCTION dbo.ReplaceTags(@body VARCHAR(MAX))
    RETURNS VARCHAR(MAX)
    AS
    BEGIN
    SELECT @body = REPLACE(@body,name,'<a href="pagename.aspx?tag='+name+'">'+name+'</a>')
    FROM Tag_Library
    RETURN @body
    END
    Sample Datasets:
article table (id, title, body) { Story1, At the same time there is a list consisting of: DUCHS, EUROC, GLSPE and WODST. Only two of the tags
    have covered with the prices in the last three months - GROSV at 99.11 on 8 October and JUBIL at 0s on 11 September. }
    tag_library table (id, name, uploadDate)
    ( 1,DRYDN33 2,DUCHS 3,DRYDN33 4,DRYDN15 5,EUROC 6,DRYDN15 7,GROSV )
I am slightly struggling, in how I can optimize this function, would partitioning the 'tag_library' name records (i.e. look through distinct names only), help in making it, faster.
I attached a sample dataset for further reference.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Many thanks.

Try a recursive query directly without using the function:
Create table article (id int, title varchar(100), body varchar(4000))
insert into article values(1, 'Story1', 'At the same time there is a list consisting of: DUCHS, EUROC, GLSPE and WODST. Only two of the tags have covered with the prices in the last three months - GROSV at 99.11 on 8 October and JUBIL at 0s on 11 September.')
Create table tag_library (id int, name varchar(10), uploadDate date)
    insert into tag_library (id ,name) values( 1,'DRYDN33'), (2,'DUCHS'), (3,'DRYDN33'), (4,'DRYDN15'), (5,'EUROC'), (6,'DRYDN15'), (7,'GROSV')
;with mycte (i, title, body ) as (
select 1 as i, title, body from article
    union all
    Select m.i+1 as i, m.title, cast(replace(m.body,tl.name,'<a href="pagename.aspx?tag='+tl.name+'">'+tl.name+'</a>') as varchar(4000)) body
    from mycte m inner join tag_library tl ON tl.id= m.i )
Select distinct title, body from mycte m
    WHERE i = (SELECT MAX(i) FROM mycte c
    WHERE m.title = c.title)
    drop table article, tag_library

  • How To Create a Drunken POV Effect?

    hello,
i am making a point-of-view 3d video and i would like to know about how i could make an effect that will show that the one that we are seeing through his eyes, is drunk.
i am searching for something that will show blurry, slow rem and generally, something to show you are totally drunk .
    thanks, a lot....!!!
p.s. no matter what the version of your after effects, tell me..

As David said, this is a very subjective matter and it really depends on how you want it to look and feel.  Do you want it to look slapstick like a silent film or serious?  Perhaps some examples might be useful in illustrating what you want.  In the meantine, I'll post the ones that popped into my head.
If you're after slapstick, then Edwin S. Porter's "Dream of a Rarebit Fiend" from 1906 is a gem of early cinema that uses some very interesting in-camera multi-exposure effects to create a drunken feel.  This could be re-created very easily in After Effects, especially the POV/Long Shot that happens at approximately 1:16.
You could do this by just simply overlaying two wobbling camera shots or using the wiggler plug-in in After Effects like so:
Or, if you're going for more serious look, then I would suggest watching Gaspar Noe's film, "Enter the Void."  The entire movie is a floating POV that spans multiple characters, spaces and time.  It also depicts a lot of substance abuse, including but not limited to alcohol.  One of the things that I think adds to the uncanny realness of the film are the sporadic eye blinks that occur throughout the movie.  This could be recreated by quickly animating 2 black solids over a couple frames.  You could also speed this up or slow it down depending on your character's drunkness.
Also, you said you're making a 3D video.  Are you talking about stereoscopic 3D or are you just making 3D layers in After Effects?  If it's stereoscopic 3D then playing with the interocular distance and the camera convergence might yield some interesting results, but I'm not sure it would seem drunken.
Otherwise, I'd just experiment with the different effects mentioned earlier.  Again, depending on what you're after, I'd also add CC Wide Time to the list.

  • ASA 5505 how to create a port forwarding rule

    ASA 5505 IOS ver 9.2.3
I need to create a firewall rule that will allow internal services to be accessed externally, but using port forwarding. For example I'd like to enable access to our NAS via ftp external on port 1545 and then have the ASA forward the request to the NAS internally on port 21.
I tried these commands but they didn't work:
    object network NAS
    host 192.168.2.8
nat (inside, outside) static interface service tcp 21 1545
access-list NASFTP-in permit tcp any object NAS eq 1545
    conf t
    int vlan 2
access-group NASFTP-in permit tcp any object NAS eq 1545
I really appreciate the help everyone.

try this, it worked for me, here is an example of adding a webserver with a ip of 10.10.50.60  and naming it with a object named www-server and forwarding port 80 , the way it works is you need to do three things, u need to "nat it" "foward it" and allow it in "acl"
    object network obj-10.10.50.60-1
    host 10.10.50.60
nat (inside, outside) static interface service tcp 80 80
    object network INSIDE
    nat (inside,outside) dynamic interface
    object network WWW-SERVER
nat (inside, outside) static interface service tcp 80 80
access-list Outside_access_in extended permit tcp any object WWW-SERVER eq 80
    access-group Outside_access_in in interface Outside

  • How to create an eye opening effect?

I am helping my students with a video.  They want to start with a black screen then apply an effect of some sort that looks like an eye is opening from being unconscious or asleep so the video is a little blurry at first.  I know how to blur, but I'm not sure how to make the eye opening transition happen.  It would be cool if you could see the video in the eye and have it zoom to full screen, but I'm not sure if that is possible in Premiere.  Any ideas and suggestions would be appreciated!  Thank you!

    > They want to start with a black screen then apply an effect of some sort that looks like an eye is opening from being unconscious or asleep so the video is a little blurry at first. <
The convention for indicating someone regaining consciousness depends on the point of view. Is the audience in the victim's head or are we watching their face? If we're in his head, a slow fade up to a blurry image is all that is required to communicate to a viewer what is going on. A simple split vertical wipe , perhaps with with some clever masking as suggested by Kevin, is possible. The addition of a wipe, however, is an affectation; it's only justifiable in the context of the rest of the film's effects and style.
    > It would be cool if you could see the video in the eye and have it zoom to full screen, <
This describes the reverse POV; we're watching the person recover. Kevin's wipe works for this and you can place the video, which I assume is the sphericaly distorted image of the room or environment as it would be reflected in the cornea, on top of the image with Premiere or After Effects. You will need to track the image, though, to nail it to the eyeball.
The questions raise more questions about the storyline and the style of the production than it does about technique required to pull it off successfully.

  • How to create a Zoom like effect?

    Hello,
I have a Pane right now that I am drawing lines inside of. Its actually drawing coordinates coming back from my hardware device (a cnc controller).
What I would like to be able to do is mouse wheel in (or out) and only see a portion of the pane. Scaling does not seem to fit my need. Perhaps there is nothing out there like this? I am sorry if this is not clear. Here is a picture of my GUI.
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/rileyporter/8451829160/in/photostream
The pane is the red dashed outline. I would like to place my mouse say over the top of the green line... Mouse wheel up and have the red dashed lines stay where they are at, however only seeing the top of the green line filling the whole red dashed outline. I am not sure what / how to achieve this effect.
    Does that make sense?

Scaling does not seem to fit my need. Why not?
Can you describe in more detail what you tried, how you implemented it, how it behaved and how that behaviour differed from what you need?
Perhaps supplying a simple, sample test case of executable code as well might help get your question answered.

  • How to create a spray foam effect?

    Hello
I am trying to create a foam fire extinguisher effect.  My video depicts a woman miming with a fire extinguisher (spraying back and forth with the nozzle) and now I am being asked to supply the foam ("fix it in post").  I have created a motion tracker for the nozzle and have tried various emitters with only limited success.
Do any of you Motion gurus have a secret recipe for a spray of foam?
    Thank you!

Try: Content > Blur 11 (or one of the others) >Apply
    Add Emitter
    Set 3D
set Lattitude to 90 degrees; Longitude 0; Emission Range about 30
    Check face camera
    Birth rate: start around 75
Life around 8 or so?  (after you scale the effect to fit, set it high enough to go as far as needed)
    Set speeds rather high (3500?)
    Spin Randomness if you like
Use Properties to orient (and Scale) the emitter in your scene [optionally, resize the Blur image smaller].  Start with Rotation X around 110 (should be streaming at a slightly downward direction); Rotation Y for left/right motion. You should be able to figure out the rest.
You can also add a Gravity behavior (affect subobjects) set quite high (start around 2000) to pull down the end of the emitter.
If you need it to "stick" places, investigate the Attracted To behavior  (in Simulations—and use "null objects" [opacity 0] arranged in your scene.)
Cross your fingers, hope for the best

iMovie 08 was primarily designed for SIMPLE editing.
Slow / Fast Motion is easy with iMovie 06.
