How to Create a Microsoft Exchange Active Sync Account

Okay people:  This is what I was given, "How toCreate a Microsoft Exchange Active Sync Account"  in a recent post in regarding to eliminate the "Invalid Email Account" notice box which appears every other day, after I deleted and added the email account.
I still have one email account functioning which is fine, but still, I'd like to have both of my accounts working.  Anyhow, I found the webpage for this creating a Microsoft Exchange Active Sync Account. Setting up an Exchange email account on BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 | BrightPoint GB Blog
I need help here.  I have no idea what "Domain Field" indicates, and what is the IT Department?  Would that be my server for my private WiFi connection?   I need a more specific instructions.  Plus the Server Address, what would that be?

  • I am no longer able to use my microsoft exchange active sync account

    I have been using my active sync account in my iphone just fine up until last wednesday 6/1/2011.  It keeps saying can't connect to server.  All of the other internet services and mail services work just fine.  I have been on the phone with Comcast making sure all the settings are correct for their active sync server

    I have no advice for the OP but a quick story ....
    Allan Sampson wrote:
    This must be a Comcast business account.
    Yes it is a business account through Comcast and I have one as well. I can not explain this but the exact thing happened to me about one week ago and no matter what I did I could not get it to work after having used it successfully for months.
    I deleted the account and then could not reinstall it. I came home from work and restored my iPad to my backup from the night before and still had no luck with mail except that the mail account was back on my iPad.
    About 36 hours after fighting and trying to reinstall the account - it inexplicably began to work again.

  • Will I lose my personal contacts if I add an Exchange/Active Sync account?

    I read that if I configure my business Exchange account via active sync I will lose my personal contacts on the phone. True?

    i set mine up for Exchange today and when I went to turn on Contacts it warned me this it would replace all my contacts with the ones from Exchange. Since I have all of my Personal contacts in a group on Exchange/Outlook anyway it was Ok for me. Once you are setup to sync with Exchange and Contacts it no longer sync with the Contacts on your computer.
    What worked out well for me was I was just testing the Exchange piece so I later turned off Contact synching and it erased all of the Contacts on my Touch. Then, the next time I synched with my computer I had the option to sync Contacts again from the computer and that put me back to the way I was before playing with the Exchange piece.

  • Exchange Active Sync account will not show up, lost all contacts

    HI,
    I know there have been various reports of the Active Sync not working properly, however my phone appears to have gone a step fuyrther since Lollipop upgrade..
    I had to wipe the phone due to the appalling stability of Lollipop, so had to re-install my corporate email account.  When i first did using the setting retrieved from back up, it appeared to work, but then my contacts would randomly vanish, all of them, then they would come back a few hours later.  Well after a week of this, my phone also decided that emails would not sync.  So i've wiped the accoutn clean and "added a new account"
    Hurray emails are back.. but no Contacts.  So i go into the "accounts" and the exchange account is missing, yet i'm still getting mails..  If i try to add the account, of course it realises it's  aduplicate, but there is no sign of the account, in the main settings page, going through email, contacts or calendar..
    Sony and Google what have you done - this is my work phone, the IT department haven't got a clue so i'm stuck with a £300 brick which my company are not happy about and are trying to force an S3 compact on me...  PLease help..

    Waheyy i've figured it out.  I'd just like to not thank the following people:
    MY IT department
    EE Mobile
    Sony
    The solution as it appears is consists of the following;
    Office / Exchange issue
    1. Wipe/ delete the device of any email accounts and, if present remove any OUtlook apps (this is just belt an braces) - restart handset.
    2. Open the web version of Office365 - go to Mobile devices, and remove the mobile devices attached to the account.  Refresh this page and close down.
    Android / Native Email, Contact and Calendar - issue
    There is actualyl a guide within the sony website that explains this bit, but it does not highlight it is a fix to any possible solution;  though trying to find this page through the hundreds of web searches i carried out remains a no go.  However as coincidence would have it, i've found another blog with the same issue and fix!
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/baliles/archive/2014/10/22/sony-xperia-z3-with-office-365-contacts-amp-calen...
    In essence, when you want to add an exchange account - DO NOT PICK Exchange, just go to add email as a non-exchange email account - i.e. enter email address and password - but then follow the manual set up process and select exchange.
    At this point, you'll get the page where you enter domain info etc - -this bit is important!  Put full email addy + password, then in server , type outlook.office365.com, then OK- this will then give you all of the options for Email, Calendar, Contacts etc..
    Somehthing somewhere gets confused, why this works at this point is unclear vs selecting exchange account from the very beginnig. Anyway - it works- i have my phone back..   Now for the annoying walkman issue!

    Hi StevenLevy,
    Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community.
    You should be able to connect a BlackBerry 10 Smartphone directly to your mail servers using ActiveSync. This KB article should provide some steps that will also apply for BlackBerry 10 devices. "How to create a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account with a BlackBerry Playbook tablet" http://blackberry.com/btsc/KB31918
    This should allow over the air synchronization of contacts and calendar. For more information, please see: "Available contact and calendar synchronization features on a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or BlackBerry 10 smartphone" http://blackberry.com/btsc/KB30038
    Let me know if that helps.

  • E-mail and Exchange Active Sync

    Planning on configuring E-mail in your Xperia phone? Or do you experiencing problems syncing your E-mails? If yes this might be the topic for you.
    Below you’ll find some guides on how to setup E-mail sync and troubleshoot any problems.
    POP3/IMAP
    POP4/IMAP E-mail accounts are the most commonly used. This guide will show you the steps of configuring your E-mail manually if your E-mail server doesn’t support auto setup. Please note that the Next button won’t be lit if you have typed an incorrect E-mail address containing characters or symbols that are not supported.
    Configuring POP3 or IMAP E-mail
    Go to the E-mail application and enter your E-mail address and password. Now press Manual setup.
    Chose the kind of E-mail server your provider is using. If uncertain check this with your E-mail provider.
    Under Incoming settings enter your username, password and server details. If you’re uncertain about these details contact your E-mail provider. But in general your username is the same as your E-mail address but some providers may use a specific user name for your account.
    Here you can also set if the server should delete the E-mails if you delete them in your phone. This setting is by default always set to Never.
    Next step is Outgoing settings. If your E-mail provider also has an SMTP server you can enter the details for sending E-mails here. This normally requires a sign-in on the SMTP server. If yes, check the Require sign-in box and enter your E-mail address and password. As above if you’re uncertain about any of these details contact your E-mail provider.
    If your E-mails provider lacks an SMTP server you can check if your network operator provides an SMTP server and use their details. Using your network operators SMTP generally doesn’t require sign-in.
    Now it’s time to set how and when to check for new E-mails. Set and check the options you desire.
    The last step of the setup is to enter an account name and your name (signature).
    Troubleshooting POP3/IMAP E-mail
    First make sure that you have a working Internet connection in the phone.
    You can download Internet and MMS settings for your phone by going to Setting > Xperia > Internet settings.
    If you have a working Internet connection but still not able to connect to your E-mail server or sync your E-mails check that no Proxy server within your APN settings may be blocking this. You can check this by going to Settings > More (Wireless & networks) > Mobile networks > APN or Access Point Names > Your Internet APN. Check if any details are set for Proxy and Proxy port. If yes you can try to delete them (temporarily) and save the APN. Now check if you’re able to connect or sync with your E-mail server.
    You can also verify suspected Internet connection issues by trying via a Wi-Fi network instead.
    E-mail disappearing?
    By default our E-mail application is set to only mirror the server. So if an E-mail on the server is deleted it will also be removed from the phone at the next sync.
    Syncing sent E-mail?
    This is not possible on POP3 configurations. To be able to sync sent E-mails in the phone you must have configured an IMAP or Exchange Active Sync account.
    Problem sending E-mail?
    If you’re not using the same SMTP server as network operator in your phone you might experiencing problems sending E-mail via mobile networks. If this is the case you can connect to a Wi-Fi network to send E-mail or check with your SMTP provider if the outgoing port can be encrypted.
    If none of the tips above helps you, you can try to download a third party E-mail application from Google Play store. This can be easy way to rule out where a specific problem may be located.
    Exchange ActiveSync
    Our Xperia phones come with the built-in Android native client for synchronizing your corporate E-mails, calendar and contacts. Here are some things worth double checking if you would experience any problems with Exchange sync.
    Begin with checking your sync account details and if you haven’t configured the Exchange ActiveSync account yet see the instructions bellow.
    Configuring a Exchange ActiveSync account
    Go to the E-mail application and enter your corporate address and password. Then press next.
    Don’t worry if the setup might fail at this point because most Exchange servers don’t have auto setup enabled. In this case just press Manual setup. Please note that the Next button won’t be lit if you have typed an incorrect E-mail address containing characters or symbols that are not supported.
    Now our E-mail application needs to know what kind of account you want to configure. Press Exchange ActiveSync.
    This will bring you to the incoming settings screen. Enter domain\user name, password and server address. If you’re uncertain about your details contact your IT department to check which credentials to use. You will also need to know if you should accept all SSL certificated or use a client certificate.
    When all details are correct you will have to setup how and when to sync. So enter and check the options you desire.
    When you see this screen the setup is complete.
    If your Exchange server requires certain security settings you might see the following pop-up after finishing the setup. If this is the case you must approve the security update in order to sync E-mail, calendar and contacts.
    Pressing OK will give you a screen showing you what permissions you need to give the E-mail application. These permissions/ security settings are set from the Exchange server and depend on your corporate IT policy.
    Troubleshooting Exchange Active Sync
    ActiveSync protocol version
    You can check which Exchange ActiveSync protocols that are supported by your phone model in its white paper. http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/whitepapers/
    Compare this with your server to make sure they’re compatible.
    “SERVER REQUIRES UNSUPPORTED SECURITY FEATURES”
    If you get the error message above your Exchange server is using security settings which are not supported by the Android native Exchange ActiveSync application. Which security settings that your phone model supports depend on firmware version and phone model. If your company runs on security settings that the Android native mail application doesn’t support and you don’t plan to alter the security settings, an alternative is to download any of the dedicated Exchange ActiveSync applications from Google Play store.
    New meetings don’t sync?
    If you have entered a new meeting in the phone and it doesn’t sync make sure that the meeting has been put into the correct account. When creating a new meeting in the calendar application make sure that you’ve chosen your ActiveSync account as calendar when creating the meeting.
    How to use GAL (Global Address List)?
    In most of our models you can access the GAL by opening the contacts application and tap the search icon. This will search the Global Address List on your exchange server. Our mail application also searches GAL when typing something in the To: field. Unfortunately we don’t have any default support at the moment for browsing the complete Global Address List.
    For more information about what is supported by our Contacts, Calendar and E-mail applications please see this link (Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z). Or this link (Xperia Z1, Xperia Z ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact).

    Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
    Are you sure that your account is really configured for the ActiveSync protocol? Because we've seen this occur only when using IMAP with Hotmail/Outlook.com.
    I suggest that you make sure that the account is configured as POP3 or EAS. Or use their own dedicated app.

  • Battery drain after 2.2 update (Exchange Active Sync users or those who use a calendar on the phone)

    A lot of folks are having "issues" with battery life after the over the air (OTA) update and there has been much speculation as to the cause.  My frustrattion level increased with each new post I read that did not reveal a resolution.  The back and forth banter about FTC complaints (that was an interesting escape from the battery problem but not very helpful), new apps running from startup (I don't like 'em either), Linux really working better with all these programs running (don't really care as long as the battery level isn't drained after an hour of just sitting on the counter) just made matters worse.
    I would like to share with you my experience and hope that it helps some of you who have taken the time to read my post.  First, let me say that the cause is not due the the "bloatware" applications that were installed during the OTA update.
    Secondly, the primary purpose of my handheld is for voice calls but running close behind is my need for immediate email, contacts and calendar information (which is configured through Exchange Active Sync).  If you are not using your phone with Active Sync or updating a remote calendar like Google), you can stop reading this post.
    I noticed that the yin/yang (sync) icon at the top of my screen kept popping up more than usual after the update.  Looking through the items I have set to sync (Menu -> Settings -> Accounts & Sync), I reviewed all the things I have set and disabled the sync settings for the things I did not want.  After disabling the "Backup Assistant", "Google", "News", "Stocks" and "Weather", I thought for sure the issue would be resolved.  Not yet.  When those adjustments didn't change the frequency of the sync, I decided to look at the Exchange Active Sync and to my surprise, the culprit was revealed - the calendar was stuck in a sync loop (syncing over and over).  I disabled the "Sync Calendar" feature and the phone stopped it's maddening attempt to refresh the calendar.
    I let the phone cool off and thought that I could get by with manually toggling the option to sync the calendar but I couldn't accept that was the only way this thing would work.  I removed the Exchange Active Sync account and created a new one.  After the new account was verified, it attempted to sync mail, contacts and calendar but this time, there was a error that occured during the calendar sync.  Instead of repeatedly attempting to re-sync, an error message that stated "Client/Server conversion error".  At this point, the calendar sync loop was no longer a problem (wasnt' draining the battery) but now my calendar wouldn't sync at all.
    To fix it, I cleared the data in the Calendar applications (Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> All [tab at the top]). Scroll down the list and open each of the Calendar items and click the "Clear Data" button.
    (Credit goes to "Brenny" at AndroidForums.com for the post that explains how to clear the Calendar Data)
    It seems that adjustments made to events before the update were kept in the phones local storage.  After the update, the calendar data in the phone's cache was not matching my remote calendar and appears to have been the cause for my battery drain.  After performing these steps, everything is back to normal.  Good luck!

    Super frustrating, I know.  Do you use Exchange Active Sync?
    If so, you might be having the same issue that I've explained.  Since making the adjustments (clearing the data from the Active Sync components like mail, contacts and calendar), my battery life is back to normal.
    Try clearing the data (see first post in this thread) and let me know what happens.

  • Exchange Active Sync using UAG 2010 SP1 Event ID 14

    I'm trying to find out what these mean. I have a few users, usually with a iPhone, that will get periodically prompted for credentials with their Exchange Active Sync account.
    In the application log on the UAG I see quite a few of the following:
    LogName: Application
    Source: Microsoft Forefront UAG
    Event ID: 14
    Logged 2/1/2012 6:04:43 AM
    Task Category: None
    Keywords: Classic
    Computer: CACUAG01
    I removed the domain and user name to protect the innocent. Can someone explain what causes these?
    "User domain\username with source IP address
    failed to log into trunk exchangeactivesync (secure=1) using authentication server MSAD with session ID 6E0357C8-7196-4A30-9FD3-613839303E6A. Error code is Invalid Credentials."

    Have a very similar issue...
    Searched online for clues but none found.
    Further investigation and found out this particular user had changed his network password about a week earlier.  Had not checked messages on the mobile device since, but when checked was showing an error.  Had to reset the password on the mobile
    device and the errors stopped.
    the actual error (event id 14) on the UAG Server is listed below.
    User xxxx\xxxxx with source IP address  failed to log into trunk brsite (secure=1) using authentication server xxxxx with session ID 55DxxB50-C3FC-4Exx-8732-AFFxxxxEB655. Error code is Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

  • Cannot Set Exchange Active Sync Email Account ot Default

    OK, I am having a problem setting the Default Email Account as Exchange Active Sync. I am seeing this in iPhone and IPad both running 6.1.2. The problem is I am unable for some reason to change the Default Email Account from iCloud to the Exchange Active Sync Account installed. When I select the option to change Default Email Account, iCloud is there and checked however the Active Sync Account does not even show up as a selectable option here. Please help! Thanks

    Hi Flipper507,

  • How Create LDAP Group Inside Active Sync Form?

    I have an Active Sync form that is working well to synchronize (and slightly massage) data from an Active Directory source to a Sun Directory Server destination.
    I need to synchronize group information from AD to DS. It must automatically create groups during the Active Sync processing. It can't be done externally using another scripting language; it must be done within IdM.
    I have the following code...
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.provision.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='createResourceObject'/>
    <Argument name='object'>
      <Object>
      <Attribute name='resourceId' value='DS'/>
      <Attribute name='resourceName' value='DS'/>
      <Attribute name='resourceType' value='LDAP'/>
      <Attribute name='objectName' value='abcd'/>
      <Attribute name='attributes'>
        <Object>
        <Attribute name='cn' value='abcd'/>
        <Attribute name='groupType' value='abcd'/>
        </Object>
      </Attribute>
      <Attribute name='objectType' value='group'/>
      <Attribute name='objectId' value='CN=abcd,ou=Groups,dc=blah,dc=com>
      </Object>
    </Argument>
    <Argument name='objectType' value='group'/>
    <Argument name='resourceId' value='DS'/>
    </Action>However with that code inside the <Field><Expansion>...</Expansion><Field> section the group is not created. I've enabled tracing and as best I can determine the code isn't even executed.
    I have created resource schemas for accounts[DS].ldapGroups and accounts[AD].groups and that works well. I can read group memberships from those lists. However I can't simply append to those lists to automatically create groups (which would be nice). That's why I've gone down this path of attempting to create the groups programatically.
    I've scoured the groups and the course notes and found nothing relevant here. The examples all refer to creating the groups within an interactive form. I'm trying to do the same within the <Field> section of an Active Sync form.

         session cannot be resolvedsession is your LighthouseContext handle so depending on how you are implementing the class you quoted, you will either need to pass it in, for example via the invoke tag from your form/workflow, or get your own - don't know how this is done but I'm assuming authenticating to IdM would have to be done.
    For all those interested, I have implemented the Java code snippet listed by Vladimir in XPRESS.

                      <new class='java.util.HashMap'/>
                    </invoke>
    [...]Although the above works well, to create OUs in AD, I have not yet tested its real life application with regards to the initial mass loading of users (from LDAP (auth source) to IdM to AD) and ActiveSyncing. My concerns are two threads attempting to create the OU at roughly the same time, the first succeeds, and second one fails because AD will reply with the fact that the object already exists. The workaround would be to do a recheck of the existence of the OU, after a failure was encountered. This ties into exception handling in general in this approach.
    If anyone can contribute exception handling and possibly a create with retries approach, to the above code, I'd appreciate it.
    Cheers.

  • Treo 755p - Exchange Active Sync

    I have been unable to consistently maintain Exchange Active Sync without a "reload or resetting" of the mail, contacts and calendar on my Treo.  AirSAMStateMachine.c errors are consistent - for example - 3874 4 Synckey invalid, cmd:4, status 4 is the most recent, but I have had 1913 3, etc.
    I've cleared my offline folders, removed the duplicates that this creates at least 4 or 5 times.  Reset my devices etc.
    Is there any way to fix this?  What is causing this? I've checked our Exchange Server and it appears okay - there isn't any errors.
    Matt Anderson
    Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

    After working for hours on Good Friday, with a Microsoft Exchange technician, we determined that the 755p just does not like a policy being in place on the server,
    We even created a new profile after doing the following and the sync stopped until the new policy was removed.
    Step 1: Open the Exchange Management Shell
    Step 2 Show what the current ActiveSync policy is; type the following at the shell console
    [PS] C:\Users\administrator>Get-ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy

  • Exchange Active Sync - No BCC option appears anymore

    Hi,
    I have a Palm Treo 680 (unlocked) and have recently installed Exchange Active Sync.  After installing this, the BCC field has disappeared when I try composing a new email message.  The BCC field was present before installing the Exchange Active Sync update.  I'm using Versamail as my email program (the program that came with the device).  Does anyone know how I can get the BCC field back?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Exchange active sync cannot connect to server after migration mailbox user from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 coexistence

    Hello, everyone, my name is rafl
    I have a problem with exchange 2013 active sync.
    I have installed exchange 2013 coexistence with legacy exchange 2007, I have to migrate user mailboxes: [email protected] from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013.
    but any problem with active sync connection on the mobile device after moving mailbox user. I reconfigure the exchange ActiveSync external connection domain (latest.domain.com) on mobile device replacing legacy exchange ActiveSync external connection domain
    (legacy.domain.com)
    the process of moving mailboxes successfully without error.
    Access OWA for exchange 2007 and exchange 2013 is running normally
    access mail from Outlook running normally
    Certificate request has been installed and has no problem with it
    The OWA virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
    The autodiscover virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
    ActiveSync virtual directory is configured for internal and external connections and different from the legacy exchange
    user mailboxes are still on exchange 2007 is not problematic.
    only problem with Exchange Active Sync on mobile devices, where I set up an email with android, iphone, windows phone. the error message: cannot connect to the server.
    but, if I create a new user and create user mailboxes directly in exchange server 2013, ActiveSync can run without error on mobile device, access through OWA, MsOutlook, Outlook Anywhere also run normally.
    only the results of user migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 which is troubled with exchange ActiveSync connection.
    any ideas for this problem, and what should I check on the exchange server ..?

    i have run the activesync test connectivity and get some error :
    Testing TCP port 443 on host domain.co.id to ensure it's listening and open.
    The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.
    A network error occurred while communicating with the remote host.
    Elapsed Time: 3091 ms.
    Testing TCP port 443 on host autodiscover.domain.co.id to ensure it's listening and open.
    The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.
    A network error occurred while communicating with the remote host.
    Elapsed Time: 21072 ms.
    Testing TCP port 80 on host autodiscover.domain.co.id to ensure it's listening and open.
    The specified port is either blocked, not listening, or not producing the expected response.
    A network error occurred while communicating with the remote host.
    Elapsed Time: 21049 ms.
    I have allowed access to port 443 (https) and 80 (http) on the firewall and re-run testconnectivity, but still with the same results. if I enable active sync for users who created directly in Exch 2013 there is no problem with the ActiveSync, just a problem
    for users who moved from Exch 2007 to Exch 2013. @Android, iPhone, and Blackberry the error message "cannot connect to the server"

  • Bug in sample code of Exchange Activ Sync cause birthday shift

    Dear Apple Development Team,
    Continuing the archived discussion 'Exchange Birthday Shifted by 1 day' I just want to inform you that Microsoft identified the reason for shifted birthdays using Exchange Active Sync. According to Microsoft the mentioned problem is not caused by a server-related problem, but due to an error in a Microsoft sample code which was used in Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Hotmail Outlook Connector and even in iOS. That means that the client side connection was developed incorrectly. Microsoft and Apple copied the incorrect code from time to time using the mentioned Exchange code in their software (iOS, etc).
    However, Microsoft already fixed the birthday bug within the latest update of the Outlook Hotmail Connector (please check changelog) as well as in the current update of Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango). For more information please check the following sites:
    German: http://answers.microsoft.com/de-de/winphone/forum/wp7-sync/geburtstags-bug/15075 df5-27f3-4518-8e27-b228d4eaab06?page=1
    English: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/winphone/forum/wp7-sync/birthdays-are-always- set-one-day-earlier-when/b3d16871-ca24-4a26-a0fc-5b0437904a22
    Due to the fact, that the mentioned problem isn't fixed in iOS until now, I would be glad if Apple could fix it as soon as possible, too. This bug is really annoying.
    Best regards,
    Hannes

    Hi,
    as far as I know the bug is fixed in Hotmail Outlook Connector now. But in the Windows Phone Mango release the bug is still active in "some" cases (for birthdays in the winter time everything is fine and for birthdays in summer time the bug is still there - or vice versa ).
    Does Apple plan to fix that bug somehow? As the bug can be fixed with a new release of Outlook connector and partly fixed in the new Windows Phone release it should be a failure in the code of the mobile devices and not with the Hotmail servers - so Apple developers have to work on that.
    Does anybody know when this annoying bug will be fixed?
    Cheers,
    Marcel
