I'm using adobe reader XI and in some documents the security signing is "not allowed".
What is the best way to create a "signing allowed" pdf? Which software should I use?

You can not use Adobe Reader to get signing functionality but you can use Adobe Acrobat XI Pro to Extend the forms abilities to allow Adobe Reader users to Sign.
Process to Extend the Form document's features with an existing Signature Field in the Form:
1. File>Save as Other...>Reader Extended PDF>Enable more Tools (includes form fill-in & save)...
2. Click "Save Now" button
3. Save the file to a new name because you want to keep the ability to edit the file that you were working on just in case you need to make changes later.

This defeats the purpose of trying to centralize SAP-related web resources on the SAP server. Typically IIS/Apache or other non-SAP servers are under the control of IT and not the SAP BASIS group.

How to create index file for pdf.

Hello,
I need to create a plugin which will read a list of pdf files and then create a full text index with catalog. I searched on net and came to know about the catalog plugin which does this work.In AV layer there is a catalog object but I am unable to find any example on net which uses the catalog object to create the pdx file and a support folder(contains idx files).
I also read the java script documentation but there was no example for creating index.We can build index but for that we need to retrieve the index object first.
Can somebody please giude me.

Is it possible to use DOM/IAC to create index files. The example given in SDK(SearchPdfVB) allows us to add,remove,enable and disable index files. But there is no method given in example to create an index file.
I want to create index file and the supporting folder which contains .idx files automatically ie through code. Is it possible to do so??
I also looked into the AVCommands but couldn't understand how to create the index files using AVCommands.
Can you please guide me.

Please follow these steps
Launch Acrobat or open a PDF>Fill & Sign>Place Signature >As you will click on that option you will be prompted create signatures in different ways.
Select any of them as per you requirement.
You will get more options under the Fill & Sign tab.You can perform various operations using the same.

How to create a 4 page pdf from images - each page should open at same size

How do I create a 4 page pdf (from 4 images - all the same size) that opens each page at full page size?

My goal is to create multi page pdfs that are created from images (scans of old brochures). I receive images (scans of pages) all at the same size.
I have been able to create the 4 pdfs (each opens at full page size) and merge into 1 pdf. When I open that final pdf, I see a column of 4 pages, page 1 image being larger than the remaining 3. When I click on the left, page 1, icon, I get the full page. When I click on icons for pages 2 - 4, I get nothing. The only way I can get the other pages in a full page view is to adjust the scaling after left icon is selected. That is not what I want.
How I created the files.
I can either create pdf pages using Photoshop, or using Acrobat Pro itself through:
File> Create PDF> From File and adding each of the images. I then, for each, choose Properties> Initial View> Fit Page> Save. Then I use File> Combine> Merge Files into Single PDF> Save.
Then I open the multi page pdf.
I appreciate any help.

It seems to me what you want to do is create one document which a combination of all four and then one page of each.
To create a Document with 4 pages combined in to one PDF. open the first in a Series the to Edit menu and click on add pages click on next document (browse to document first) the choose attach to to end of document or add to end of document. Repeat until you get all images added. They will end up (or should ) center in center of their own page. Save this document with a new name for now.
Next go back to Photo shop and reduce size of images to fit desired sheet of paper (8-1/2 by 11, 8-1/2 by 14, whatever) place them side by side and row by row so you have 4 images on one page.
now save as Pdf.
now decide which you want to swap to the Thumbnails (the 4 on one page, or 4 individual pages. I would use the thumbnails and make each a button that references the page in the document you save as a 4 page pdf that applies.
Then on that page write a line saying click each illustration to see full size image (you might have to write this line while in Photoshop) then save this as PDF file
Try out. You might have to use some javascript controls to do this. But I am not experienced in JavaScript to do this. I'm sure it cane be done.
But note you will have to save both documents with the Thumbnails and the four page and Thumbnail page in a folder and send to prospect
If you want just four separate pages in one Pdf just do first two paragraphs above

Good day,
To Bernd's point, you cannot stop someone from downloading your PDF (or any file for that matter) if you put them onto the Internet. There are ways of limiting how long a file can be viewable for through some server side software options, but ultimately, to your original question, you cannot create PDF files with Adobe Reader.

Greeting to everyone.
I use Acrobat 8 Standard to create PDF files, usually by PRINTING TO PDF from a CAD file(Vectorworks) or web pages on the net.
I know how to create single pages and I know how to combine them into a single PDF file by using the Document - Insert Pages command.
My question is: When creating a PDF file(e.g from my CAD program), can I print and insert instantly, rather than going through 2 steps.

Hi Rohit
are you working with interactive forms inside Web Dynpro? If so, Web Dynpro will create the data connection for you. The only thning you have to do is setting the "data sorurce" and "pdf source" in the properties tab of the interactive forms layout element. If you don't work with Web Dynpro, you can create a data connection as follows:
1. Open your *xdp-Template (Doubleclick: Lifecycle Designer is starting
2.Click on File-> New Data Connection.
3, Create the data Connection with the wizard, Your source can be
a) XML Schema
b) OLEDB Database
c) WSDL file

How can I digitally sign a pdf document and also disallow changes to the document?

When I digitally sign the document it does not let me lock it down - when I lock down the doc first, it does not allow for digital signature. Please help.

The initial document should have its properties set as:
Changing the Document: Not allowed
Signing: Allowed
That way no one can make changes to it but anyone may sign it. These properties are available in v9, but I'm not sure about previous versions.

The SDK has all the information - but certainly there are only samples for those common actions that users have been doing for years. Most developers don't recreate stuff already present in the application - such as the Stamp plugin - so we don't have samples of such things.
But all the pieces you need are present in the SDK - it's just necessary obvious. You will need to learn about the details of how the plugin APIs work to create the toolbars and toolbuttons, and then how to handle cursors. You will then need to learn about PDF details in order to be able to take an existing PDF, potentially modify it (eg. Change the color(s)) and then place it onto another PDF.
The methods you listed are from JavaScript - there are alternative methods for plugins, such as the AVConversion APIs.

How to create a button in pdf to jump to a specific location and highlight it....?

I have a problem in making a pdf-file interactive which I suspect will have to be solved by Javascript, but I don't know the exact solution. What I want to do is to be able to create a button on a page. Clicking this button will cause the pdf reader to go highlight a specific area (stored in the button information), either on the same page or another page. The functionality could also be achieved by the button searching for a specific and unique string in the document, and subsequently highlighting it. I have looked for this functionality in pdf's, but not been able to find it. Does it already exist?. If not, can anyone come up with a hint how it can be implemented? (Javascript, anyone?) I am trying to create a pdf from autocad drawing with searchable text. Using the default acad pdf driver, it will create searchable text for only TT fonts with width set to 1.0. We use the monochrome plot settings so pdfs are all black, even if drawing was in color.
Using 'create pdf' from Acrobat Pro, Acrobat pro will create a pdf from the autocad drawing easily with all text searchable, shape fonts, TT fonts, no matter what the width. Fantastic. However, there is no option that I can see to create the pdf in just black and white. It creates the pdf in drawings original colors. How do I create a black and white pdf using acrobat pro? Thanks.

The only way to change the color of the printouts from your iPhone is through HP's free mobile app "HP ePrint Home&Biz". This is available in the App Store.
Simply download and install the app, choose a file to print from within the app, then press the icon at the bottom right of the screen that is a wrench and printer. This should then give you the option to choose the color output. Make your selection, press "Done", then press "Print."
If you are not seeing this option, you may need to setup ePrint for the printer and then register the app. This registration will also give you more functionality with the app.
