How to create album (or folder) within others in iPhoto?

I am a recent convert from Windows. I used MS Digital Image to manage my photos. I could create a folder, add sub-folders underneath, and even sub-sub-folders if I wanted to. And I did. E.g., I could name a folder "vacation 2009" and create sub-folders under it for each place visited.
I can't seem to do this in iPhoto. When I migrated my photos over to iPhoto it totally trashed the existing folder heirarchy. It is a mess now! I'm trying to rebuild the tree, but iPhoto is not cooperating. I can create a folder or an album but it won't let me create a SUB folder or album. It just drops it under the same tree. I guess it thinks it is smarter than I am or else it's one really lame bit of software.
I even thought I would try to create a folder/sub-folder heirarchy in Finder, but Finder can't even "find" my photos! I'm REALLY ticked.
Anyone got a handle on this?

a couple of things
You are thinking of a file management system - that is not what iPhoto is
iPhoto is a database and if you tag your photos you can find them instantly using the search window in the lower left or with smart albums
For the organization you want you use folders (folders hold folders or albums) and albums (albums hold photos) - events are best left as just buckets of date organized photos

different people use different strategies but I go with the old j-school 5 Ws - Who, What, When, Where and Why - I use faces for who - when is automatic form my camera and since I have a GPS camera where is automatic too - and I use key words for what and why - so I can instantly find any photo - want a photos of my wife, daughter and dog in New York in 2006 - or all photos with elephants in them - instant - try that with a file based system
You need to learn iPhoto and change your thinking from managing files to managing photos - the old tutorials help (although some commands have changed location) - and it would be a worthwhile investment of time to take the iphoto tutorials - http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/ - they are very helpful and will save you a lot of time and frustration. -- and there are videos under the iPhoto help menu ==> iPhoto help ==> videos
And you may want to start over with your old folder structure as a starting place - to do so just quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library to the desktop and launch iPhoto creating a new library - make sure the iPhoto preference to split items imported form the finder into events is not checked and then drag folders to iPhoto - it will create events matching the folders

Hello,
I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Right Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Also, you can add a New Folder button to the Finder's toolbar by opening Finder, going to the View menu in the menubar, selecting Customize Toolbar..., and dragging the New Folder icon to the toolbar in the Finder window. Then it's just one-click for new folders wherever you want them.

I've recently been put on a project where I need to use the REST services (ListData.svc) to retrieve and add documents to the document library. It all has been smooth sailing until I hit the point where I want to save a document in a path that doesn't exist.
I get an error if I try to save a file where the folder structure doesn't exist. I then went about it a different way trying to create the folder structure first. This also didn't work and I get an error message saying that the entity type is marked with the
MediaEntry attribute but no save stream was set for the entity. Not too sure what set for the save stream if I'm just adding a folder.
So my question is can a file be added to a folder structure that doesn't exist where it automatically creates the folders. If not can the service create folders?
Some sample code I've been using:

Finally managed to figure this one out. For anyone who needs source on how to create a document folder. Some sample source is below...
var folder = new DocumentLibraryItem();
folder.Name = "Folder Name";
folder.Title = "Folder Name";
folder.ContentType = "Folder";

spContext.AddtoDocumentLibrary(folder);
spContext.SetSaveStream(folder, stream, false, folder.ContentType, folder.Path + folder.Name + "|0x0120009BCC19899CEBC6468FF4EEAC7B8CF4F5"
spContext.SaveChanges();
So the important differences in the code above. The content type of the object and stream MUST be set to "Folder". I'm not sure why but you still need to set the save stream to be a valid stream even though you're only adding a folder. So just keep the stream
open and then pass "true" to close it when you actually save the file. The other important element as noted from the URL's in the previous comments is you need to add a "|" + Content Type ID of a folder. You'll be able to get this ID by visiting the rest service
for an existing document library and view source to see the actual content type id for a folder.

Indeed, Monika. And then you have to trust them.

we have developed a UICommand (myCopyCommand). As per our requirements, we want to create a KM folder using Chinese text. And see how the copy command works across two different Chinese folders.
I never tried creating KM folder's in another language.

Have a look at the function group SFTP. Use function module ftp_command to create the directory sending the mkdir command.
Use the where-used list to find sample programs.

The subject of the post is "How to create Default Schema from within the application".
But your question asks how to set the "default workspace" for a newly created user.
Those are different questions and not the ones I think you need answered.
Let me answer this question "How can you set the default schema for an account when creating the account and set it to the same value used for the default schema attribute of the administrator account used to authenticate to the currently running application?".
In the apex_util.create_user call use named parameter notation and fetch the information about the currently logged-in user first, e.g.,declare

I want to have two separate folders in IBooks - Books and Papers. However, I am unable to find an option in Itunes to do this. Ideally I would like to organize my files and books within Itunes and sync it with Ipad IBooks. Any ideas?

Just like you would create a new folder anywhere. Open the drive's icon from your desktop or the Finder, and click shift-command-N. (Or use the Finder menu if you prefer - File - New Folder).
If you can't create a folder, your drive may be the wrong format (you can't write to a Windows/NTFS formatted drive, for example). You'll have to back up any files you have on there, and then use Disk Utility to reformat it to Mac Extended (if it will only be used on a Mac) or MS-DOS format (if you want to share it with a PC).

A new folder is created in the currently open folder.
I'm assuming you are trying to create a new folder in List view. The new folder will be created in the folder which that the open window represents.
If you want to create a folder within another folder, you must open that folder in icon view or select the new parent folder in column view.

I am trying to create a smart folder that lists all my iPhoto original content in the last few months. I want this so that my wife can connect into the smart folder over the LAN when copying specific photos to her PC.
I am have trouble working out how to restrict the search to only those files that exists in the iPhoto directory. When I look at info for a photo is states "Where: /Users/Shared/iPhoto Library/iPhoto Library/Data/2009/....etc etc".
However if I add an filter for "Where from" begins with "/Users/Shared/... etc etc" it returns nothing. Is there a way to do this?

Find the iPhoto library file.
Right click -> Show package contents.
Double click the Originals folder.
Type anything in the Search box at the top of the Finder window.
In the top of the Finder window, click "Originals".
Click the + (plus) sign next to Save.
Select Kind is Image.
Click the + (plus) sign again.
Select *Created date* is *within last 3 months* (or whatever you want).
Go to the search box and delete what you typed. Don't hit the X to delete the search text.
Now save the smart search.
This is saved in ~\Library\Saved searches. Copy or move it to the desktop where your wife can get access to it.
