It is the same for the app store. You are required to have some sort of payment method in the record.

You are following the instructions on the page that you posted from exactly, and you are trying to create a new account and not update an existing account i.e. you are selecting a free app in the store and clicking on 'Create Apple ID' when 'buying' it ?

Note that under some circumstances "None" may not be available as a payment method. If this occurs, see this article -

Itunes not letting you create a account without a credit card

Normally you can create an account without using a credit card, I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to find someway to get around the not having a credit card or pay pal account, and yes I did read the article on how to get around it, but the problem is that when you create the account it doesn't give you the option of no payment at this time. HELP!!!???!?!?!?!!

sometimes I live in USE, sometime not. I have an USA address, but I don't have a USA credit card. Apple allows to have several apple IDs (see the link in my question). I don't want to make a card for only one reason - to by apps in USA appstore. I have a gift card and I want to use it, but seems that I can't because "None" type payment is not available anymore.

Did you follow, exactly, the instructions on the HT2534 page when creating the account ? I've just tried it on my Mac's iTunes and the instructions still work e.g. find a free app in the store, click on its free 'price' button, and on the popup click on 'create apple id' - when you get to the payment details screen you should see the 'none' option.

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.

Thanks SniperKat but I don't know why for some reason the "NONE" disappeared...
I started to create an account and when I saw the credit card thing I just clicked back and back and so I closed the browser... every free app or something free I get it appears a window : " You have to review some of your information about your account" .... but I don't have an account yet because I didn't create it.... the only solution is to create a new e-mail account and go to iTunes store and create a new account with the new e-mail and be very carefull with the "Free app" this time...

I recently made a brand new Apple ID for the iCloud and because my old ID was years old and I don't even use the email address it was registered on. Registering it went fine. But now that I want to update some of my apps via the iTunes store, it says I can't verify my new account without credit card information. I don't have a credit card at this time. I do plan on getting one soon, but until then I'd like to be able to update my apps, use iTunes cards, and download free podcasts with my new account. Is it possible to get my new account up and running without credit card info?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Open iTunes and navigate to the app store. Select a free app to download. A simple way to do this is to scroll down to the top free apps box on the right hand side, hover your mouse over the first item and click on the free button that appears when you hover over it.
A pop up will open asking you to sign in with your Apple ID click "create new account", click continue to create your account. Check the box to accept the store terms and conditions and click continue.
Enter your email address, password, security question, and date of birth, click continue. Now, you will be asked to provide a payment method. Note now that the last option says "none".

Ok so here was my problem.... Id go into theapp store and try to dl a free app. It would ask me to log in and i would. Then it would say "this account has not been used in the app store be4 and you need to review. So from ther on you end up at a page asking for credit card or gift card info. On my iPad it only has credit cards and gift cards. On my computer iTunes it has credit cards, gift cards and paypal as options. So I was told to go here

In that forum it asks you to sing out of your account and creat a new one and then you will be able to see a option for NONE as payment. BUT WHO WANTS TO DO THAT! you loose all your information if yo make a new account. So here is the answer below.
1. go to - - http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40?viewlocale=en_US and look back here for step 4
2. follow the steps there BUT AT STEP 4 just change your email slightly ex.([email protected] - change it to [email protected])
3. Then click save changes. Now signout of appleID.
4. NOW you can go here ----- http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 and follow the directions for ither computer or mobile device. (I did iTunes on computer so I'd say do it that way.)
This way you wont have to worry about loosing all your data and having to creat a new account.
Hope this helps you guys out. It sure did for me.

Thanks, but that's not a valid piece of advice, at least in my case and as much as have tried to I understand it.
An email (submitted while registering) = Apple ID
You can actually submit the same email twice (still it changes nothing even if one confirms an account from a number of Alternate Email Addresses):
1) as Apple ID and Primary Email Address
2) as Alternate Email Addresses
... but you CANNOT separate Apple ID from Primary Email Address in my version of user panel.
I suppose we have different versions of user panel. Any other ideas?

HT2534 Why are you lying about being able to create an account without a credit card?

In the support section it says you can create a credit card free account by simply selecting the "none" option in the pick a payment source section
But when I tried that's not what happened. It's either a big lie or you guys just didn't know

I have no idea who you think we are, but we're not Apple, or what good reason you have for your "liar" remarks, but the None option is not available in all countries, and no amount of name calling can change that. Sorry.
