How to create an in-site search engine

How does one manually create an in-site search engine (without using Google's site search engine or the like)? Is it very difficult and time consuming?

If your site is dynamically populated with content from server-side databases, it's not hard.
If your site is static, a 3rd party search function might be a better choice until you're ready to build a dynamic site.

  • The required index has not been created yet in the search engine

    Hi,
I am trying to change the inspection plan trying to add master insp.characterstics in QP02 the system is giving the following error: "The required index has not been created yet in the search engine".  As per the solution for that error The administration transaction is SES_ADMIN.
Through the Goto menu, you can enter the relevant customizing directly.
The index was required for: Business object = QPMK
    Object type = 1
It is already there. I don't know why still it is showing the error.
    How can i fix this?
    Pl help me. Thanks.
    Madhu

    Hi,
Not so sure this applies as
1] The field is using a custom search help which correctly appears for data selection in each case. Its only when we push the go button that the index missing error ishappening for the particular user.
2] We cloned the user  id for the user having the issue and the clone has no problem at all using the search help.
    Weird huh?

  • Site search engine

Hi everyone! I need to put a site search engine in my composition how can i do that?
    Thanks everyone in advance!

    X?
Your web host is running OSX Server? If so, one would hope a
    specialized
host like that would be able to provide you some options.
Otherwise, I believe the Web server on OSX Server is the
    Apache web server,
in which case, you should be able to use any search solution
    that would run
on Apache (like any PHP solution).

  • How to create a muse site in various languages with multiple domains

I have been asked to create a website for a product. A very simple website with maybe one or two pages and one product for sale for which the client would like Paypal as the payment gateway. Simple right?
No! This client would like to market their product into Europe, they would like to purchase multiple European domains ( .fr, .de for example).
So how on earth can I do this? I will be using Muse for build and Business Catalyst for hosting.
Bearing in mind the client will not want to pay for separately hosted sites. Is there a way of translating the text for each domain. Or could I assign multiple domains but direct them to different home pages within the same site?
I haven’t a clue how to problem solve this.

How do I change my default search engine which appears as a free text band at the top of my default Apple website.  I want to change it from Yahoo to Google.
    Thx

Safari/Preferences/General.  There is a place there to specify your default search engine.

    Hi kjkirtley,
Your question is not quite clear about where you are doing the searches from, but I will presume you are trying to do searches from Safari (Apple’s web browser) and it is using Bing as the default search engine. You can set the default search engine to Google by going to the Safari menu > Preferences > General > Default Search Engine:

  • How do I announce my site on engine searching? Goggle, Yahoo.....

Hi fran welcome to the forum!
My site http://iWebTricks.com as well as my other sites automatically appeared on Google after a short amount of time. Google uses automated web spiders known as "crawlers" that search sites for specific keywords and arranges their search engines according to the content of ones website.
My recommendation for optimization of search engines would be to include as much text-content on your page as possible pertaining to the subject of your website. That way when one is Googling for something related to your site you'll get a hit since you have text on your site describing what is on your site and the Google spiders picked up on it.
Go ahead and do a Goolge search for iWeb Tricks and you'll see me at the number one hit and I didn't do a thing to get there!

  • How Do I Add A Site Search Box?

I just upgraded my BC subscription to webMarketing and I am wanting to add a site search box to my site but I am having troubles with the directions found on the Adobe Website: Business Catalyst Help | Add a site search box.
My first issue is a simple clarification with item #4 under "Create a page to display the search results"
    4. In the editor, enter {module_searchresults} where you want the results to appear on the page.  What exactly is the editor? LOL is that just the Adobe Muse page and I use the text tool and create a box with "{module_searchresults}" in it?
My next, more critical issue is:
Add a search box to a template
Open the template in editing mode by selecting Site Manager > Page Templates, and choosing the template from the list of templates. My BC Admin page has "Site Manager" on the left - but when I click it - it only shows "Web Forms" and "System E-mails" I have no option for "Page Templates".
So how do I get "Page Templates" to show up.  I'm pretty sure my "webMarketing" subscription allows for a site search box...maybe I am mistaken.
    Thanks for any help!

The editor is that of the WYSIWYG editor in the BC admin itself.
The important thing to know is Muse is NOT BC, it is not the only thing you use to make a BC site, far from it. IT is a really basic tool to build basic sites. The instructions you will find on the BC docs will never reference the way to do it for Muse, just BC, or you can use your own code editor.
So you need to go login to your website admin and then you will find the pages, templates etc.

  • I downloaded, installed and uninstalled firefox 24 yesterday but it had a search engine which I don't want, how can I download without this search engine.

How can I download firefox without the search engine it automatically takes me to when I open a new tab.?

its not search engine change homepage you like
et a single website as your home page
If you like to keep things simple, here’s how to set your home page in three easy steps.
Open the website you want to set as your home page. If you want a blank home page, open a new tab.
Click the icon to the left of the web address, drag it to the Home button, and release.
    Home page Win1
Click Yes to set this as your home page.
Try it out: Click the Home button and your new home page will load in the current tab. It doesn’t get much easier than that!
Set more than one website as your home page
This is the way to have one-click access to all of your favorite websites. For example, you can set the Firefox home button to open your email, favorite news site, and Facebook all at once.
Open a new window and load the first web site you want in your home page.
Click the new tab button and open the next web site. Repeat this step until you've opened all the desired sites in new tabs.
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options
    Select the General panel.
    Click Use Current Pages.
    Home page Win2
Click OK to close the Options window
Try it out: Close all of your tabs and then click the Home button. Watch all of your chosen pages open up in tabs. Do it again! You know you want to.
Note: Setting too many pages as your home page can make Firefox take long to start up.
    Restore the default home page
If you want to delete your home page customizations, this is the way to do it.
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options
    Select the General panel.
In the Startup box, click Restore to Default.
    Home page Win3
Click OK to close the Options window
Set what pages open when Firefox starts
This is a great feature you can use in addition to the home page settings. To save time, you can have Firefox open the pages you were visiting the last time you used it so you can continue where you left off.
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options
    Select the General panel.
In the Startup box, click the dropdown menu next to "When Firefox starts:" and select what Firefox should display when it starts up.
Show my home page - Displays the home page(s).
Show a blank page - Displays a blank page. This loads quickly since you don't have to wait for lots of tabs to load.
Show my windows and tabs from last time - Opens the pages you were visiting the last time you used Firefox so you can continue where you left off. For more information, see Restore previous session - Configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs and windows.
Click OK to close the Options window .
Try it out: If you really want to get fancy, you can set a group of web sites as your home page and set Firefox to open the pages you were visiting the last time you used it. That way, you can pick up your work where you left off and have one-click access to your favorite sites.
    Tying it all together
Firefox is really flexible – "you" decide what works best. Keep it simple and set a single website as your home page or set up one-click access to your favorite web sites and save time by having Firefox pick up where you left off when it starts. What works best for you? Try and see!

  • How to create an ftp site?

    Hello,
I am a novice website developer and I am learning the basics of Dreamweaver. I needed advice how I can go about a certain task: I have an excel file referencing several pdf's that I have pertaining to my business. There are dozens of pdfs. I was going to post my excel sheet, and also provide a link to an FTP site where visitors can view the files and read/download them as they wish. With Dreamweaver, how can I create an FTP site that can accomplish this? Or is there a spry element I can use to give visitors access to my pdf's? Thanks for any advice.

Anytime you want to post something on the internet, you will have to have someplace to host them, whether it is a ftp,  http site or another place to host your files. You don't need an ftp site to accomplish what you are trying to do. A simple webpage with links to the pdf will do exactly that.
If you are wanting just some place to host your pdf files, then you should google or bing it as search terms.

  • How do I change my default Search Engine from Yahoo to Google permanently?

Every time I restart Firefox my search engine reverts back to yahoo, how do I fix this permanently. I only want to use google to search for things it is much more efficient. Is there some firefox connection to yahoo that is causing this?

None of above worked for me.
    This did:
"In your address bar, type in: “about:config”
Inside of the filter search box, type in:
    browser.search.defaultenginename
Double click that entry (or right click and choose “Modify”) and then type in the name of the search engine you wish to have as the default search engine. It must be one that you already have installed and also make sure you type in the name correctly.
Now if you type in “Yahoo”, restart Firefox and when your browser comes back up you will see the red Yahoo “Y” and Yahoo as your default search engine."
    (as found on http://www.searchenginejournal.com/change-your-default-search-engine-in-firefox-google-chrome-ie/24378/)
Since I wanted to be rid of Yahoo and get Google back - in the last part instead of typing "Yahoo" I typed "Google".
    That's it.
