How to create an operating unit
Please can someone direct me on how to create an operating unit and assign it to a ledger. I don't seem to get my way trying to do this. Thankyou.
Navigate to, US Super HRMS Manager > Work Structures > Organization > Description. Create New. Then enter the Operating Unit Name, Location and Address. Now add a new record in Organization Classifications region and choose Operating Unit. It will add Operating Unit in the Organization classifications. Then click on Others and enter Operating Unit information.

ManthanaIf your data structure will be the same then do a copy. if the data structures are different then create from scratch ( or modify after copy). Copy saves time so you don't have to start from scratch.

How to create parallel operation in Routing
Dear Sir,
We have 4 operation involved in manufacturing a component . The operation 10,20, 30,and 40 . Operation 20 & 30 can go in parallel and rest are in a sequential manner .
After going thru SDN , I followed the following steps :
a) Created operation 10, 20 and 40
b) in CA02 , clicked on Sequence and created a new sequence with parallel operation option selected . Here I mentioned branching operation as 10 and return operation 40 .
c) Created operation 30 , under the parallel sequence option operation page .
My problem is that now in CA02 , I am not able to see all operation 10,20,30,40 together . The planning dept require that all operation should reflect together and there itself he should be able to know that operation 20,30 will be in parallel and rest in sequencial .
Moreover by selecting on "Operation Graphic" icon , again we are not able to see all operation 10,20,30,40 as per the given relationship .
Kindly help us please.

i think you are looking at an option were in you can confirm or do goods Issue for the order. If that was the requirement, then the control is in customizing transaction "OPK4".
Here in this transaction you need to define "operation sequence is not checked" for the plant/order type combination.

How to create batch operation to copy images x times per canvas
hello all,
i am a new PS4 user and self taught.
i have about ~65 images that i need to copy 1, 3, 6, 12 times per canvas, then trim and format for web use. is there a batch script that does this (that i could change qty.)? actually trim & web format i could do in another operation later. i think i am using 'copy' as the correct term for this function.

How to create Labor Operated Machines and confirm their work

We have a steel manufacturing client for our implementation. the client already uses CATS to enter the time sheets for the internal activities using labor. but the customer requires to map machines operated by labor on the system.
Example:
Welding Machine XL5000 costs 10$ per hour
Employee #### costs 20$ per hour to operate that welding machine
Required:
- How to Plan that for a Project (( not using activity elements))
- How to Confirm the work hours done by the person using the machine at the same time<<Ex: using CATS>>. ((This is to prevent the mistake of someone confirming the activity element of the labor and not the machine or the other way around))Thank you for your reply Mr. Maria
I just tried it. unfortunately the system doesn't consider the 2 activity types defined in the work center "Labor Hour + Machine Hour". I use formula SAP008 and check the "reference indicator".
I believe that is due to the activity type "Labor Hour" being set in the internal activity in PS.
I tried removing it, the cost calculation fails for the internal activity.
the system does not consider the activity types in the planning and the actual posting of CATS. I don't know how to do that in Project System.
Regarding the solution of having 2 lines of confirmation for the same activity in CATS, unfortunately this will double the capacity usage for the employee causing a time problem.
Ex:
An employee is working 14 hours (8 + 6 Overtime) on a machine. confirming that will require entering 2 lines of 14 hours in 1 day = 28 H. the system will issue a warning message that the employee is working more than 24 hours in 1 day and reduce the amount of work entered to fall to 24 hours.
And if we didn't face the 24 hours problem the employee capacity will be overrated in the reports.
I'n afraid it won't work.

How will this affect my CO postings? Can I use CO without Operating Concern?

However it is not likely to affect your controlling in any other way
If not required then there is no need to create any operating concern.

I have created the Operating concern with some characteristics & value fields.
Now my client want to add two more characteristics to the operating concern by removing the existing ones.
when i am trying to add them it is not happening.
Is there any limit for number of entries in operating concern, if there is a limit how can i do it.

You can delete the characterstics only if the postings are not made for the characteristics.
Procedure:
1) Use KEA0, enter data structure in change mode. select the characteristics to be removed from the left hand side of screen click on transfer button to move them to right hand side.
2) need to activate and save the characteristics screen
3) need to re-generate the environment.
You may get so many system messages follow carefully.
Impact on cross client also.

If you are not using PA then no you do not need to configure the Operating Concern.
The OpConcern is the organizational unit that holds COPA data, the overall structure being:

You define an operating concern in customizing, t-code KEA0. Go to SPRO -> IMG -> Controlling -> Profitability Analysis -> Structures -> Define Operating Concern. You will find the supporting documentation

In this section, you create an operating concern.
In order to use Profitability Analysis (CO-PA), you have to define operating concerns. An operating concern is an organizational unit in Financials. The structure of an operating concern is determined by analysis criteria (characteristics) and the values to be evaluated (value fields).
In a first step, you have to define the characteristics for your operating concerns. You define characteristics in the Customizing activity Maintain characteristics. For costing-based Profitability Analysis, you also need to define value fields. You do this using the activity Maintain value fields. These characteristics and value fields can be used in several operating concerns. Their definition applies to all clients.
After this, you have to define the structure of your operating concern in the activity Maintain operating concern. You do this by selecting the desired characteristics and adding them to the data structures of your operating concern. If costing-based Profitability Analysis is active, you also need to select and add the required value fields. The structure of an operating concern is valid in all clients.
In the step "Maintain operating concern", you also specify the attributes of your operating concern (fiscal year variant, currencies). By maintaining the attributes, you make an operating concern "known" in the current client. The attributes are client-specific.

Need your help on this one:
Our client is implementing FICO in phase 1 without COPA & Product Costing. COPA will be taken up in Phase 2 when MM & SD are also implemented.
Will I have to create an Operating Concern now in Phase 1 along with the Controlling Area? or will I be able to create an Opearting Concern alone later in Phase 2?

Operating Concern is at above the Controlling Area.
You can create Operating Concern later. There won't be any impact.
Because, no where you are going to assign the Operating Concern. So, it'll not impact the settings.

Operating concern is a part of an organisation which is used for the structuring the sales market in a uniform manner. It may be a product group, a customer group, a country or distribution channel. You can calculate the operating profit, by charging the costs and revenues to a particular operating conern.
For example your company is producing one product and selling in four different countries, you can create four operating concerns. It will help to calculate the profit countrywise and also helps in analysing the performance of the each operating conern based on the cost and revenues charged to that operating concern.
You can assign any number of controlling areas to operating concerns

As the previous comment says, CE1XXXX, CE2XXXX, CE3XXXX and CE4XXXX are created. But this is if you are using Costing-based profitability analysis, However, if you're using account-base PA then no tables are created and CPEP, COSP, COSS and other standard CO tables are used.
