How to create Automator application?

I cannot figure out how to create an application in Automator that actually works.
What I have is a workflow that combines PDFs.   As a workflow it works well.
I would like to create an application that does the same thing.   First I tried saving the workflow as an application.   I duplicated the workflow and saved it as an application.  Later I started at the beginning by creating a new application and building it up with the same actions that are in the workflow.
With both techniques I got an "application" that sits on my hard drive.   The OS describes it as an application.  But, when I click on the icon, the icon blinks as if an application is opening.  But then nothing happens.   The computer remains in Finder.   The Automator "application" does nothing.
I must be missing something.  How do I create an Automator application that opens?

It won't. It runs the task in the background.
My suggestion is to create two folders
PDF Files
Merged PDF Files
Tell the workflow to merge PDFs found in PDF Files and place the merged PDFs into Merged PDF Files.
Then dump a bunch of PDFs into the first folder. Click the application. Then check the second folder. You should see them all merged into one there.

  • How to create an application-specific policy file?

    Hi Everybody:
    I'm a .NET developer with C #. I have a few applications currently running on my computer using the ODP 10.1
    Two weeks ago I installed on my computer the ODP 10.2 Release & now my previous applications have stopped working: when I try to make the connection to the database gives me this exception:
    OraOLEDB (0x80004005)
    ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    In FAQ section for ODP.NET I found the next:
    Q: I have two .NET applications on the same machine running two different versions of ODP.NET. How do I ensure both these applications use the correct ODP.NET version?
    A: Beginning with ODP.NET 10.1.0.3, the Oracle installer will register the following publisher policy DLLs in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) that redirect 9.2, 10.1 and 10.2 ODP.NET applications to use the last installed version of ODP.NET: Policy.9.2.Oracle.DataAccess.dll and Policy.10.1.Oracle.DataAccess.dll.
    ODP.NET 9.2 includes just the first policy DLL above. These policy files ensure that all your ODP.NET applications use the most recently installed version of ODP.NET.
    You may undo the redirection manually. Policy DLLs can be de-installed through gacutil.exe using the /u option. Another approach is to navigate to the GAC directory (i.e. C:\WINNT\assembly) through the Windows Explorer and delete the policy folders. That will eliminate any policy enforcement for all your ODP.NET applications.
    If you have applications on the same machine using different ODP.NET versions, you should create an application-specific policy file.
    I'm trying to do that, but I don't know what is an application-specific policy file. Someone can give me an example of How can I create and application-specific policy file???
    Regards

    Hi,
    Binding redirection is a ".net thing" as opposed to a "odp.net thing", see if this helps:

  • How to create JSF application from xsd files?

    Hi,
    We have many xsd files describing xml's which we are supposed to send to web services. Application which we are creating should allow user to fill xml documents with data and then we should send those xml files to some web service. We want to automatize as much as possible the process of application creation to avoid possible errors and to minimize our efforts (there are plenty of quite complex xsd files).
    Our first approach was: we used Oracle JSXB to generate java classes basing on xsd files (using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0.4066). Then we tried to generate DataControls, but this action fails with following error:
    Window title: Error in init bean
    Message: Could not complete initbean because it would result in an invalid document
    Details: oracle.bali.xml.model.XmlInvalidOnCommitException: SEVERE: Wartość atrybutu Name nie jest typu ID (Value of Name attribute is not of ID type)
    Wartość musi być następującego typu: (Value must be of following type)
    Nazwa typu: ID (Type name)
    Typ pierwotny: string (Primitive type)
    Z następującymi więzami: (With following constraints)
    zgodne z wzorcem: [\i-[:]][\c-[:]]* (Compliant with template)
    [ node = Name ]
    <JavaBean version="10.1.3.40.66" id="XSLStylesheet" BeanClass="oracle.xml.xslt.XSLStylesheet" Package="oracle.xml.xslt" isJavaBased="true">
    <Attribute Name="classMethodParams" IsUpdateable="0" Type="java.util.Hashtable" />
    We tried Sun implementation fo JAXB - it generated different java classes (with annotation mechanism). Creation of DataControls using those classes was successful. Then we created simple JSF page and tried to put those DataControls on it in order to let the user fill it with data. The thing is that those controls are read only as there is no row created in those DC. We can't create any row in those DC as there are only 'commit' and 'rollback' operations. When we try to call 'CreateInsert' operation on child elements of those DC we get error in JDeveloper log window:
    2007-05-29 10:08:46 oracle.adf.controller.faces.lifecycle.FacesPageLifecycle addMessage
    WARNING: JBO-29000: DataControl:createRowData
    2007-05-29 10:08:46 oracle.adf.controller.faces.lifecycle.FacesPageLifecycle addMessage
    WARNING: DataControl:createRowData
    new row is not created and controls are still read-only.
    The question is:
    1. is there another, more efficient way to create JSF application from xsd files?
    2. if this is the best way to do it, what do we do wrong?
    Leszek

    To anyone who might find it useful: our solution to mentioned problem.
    Few tips how to solve described problem:
    1. Do not use JAXB (we checked Oracle and Sun)
    2. Use castor http://www.castor.org/
    a) for each xsd generate java files in separated package
    b) use java 1.5 to let castor generate lists
    c) use mapping of xml namespaces to java packages to have only 1 implementation of each xsd
    3. Create facades - java files for you root-level java objects
    4. Right click those facades and choose 'Create DataControl' in jdev
    5. Now you may drag and drop you DataControls and use them in your JSF (or UIX) application
    I hope it will help someone :)

  • How to create POWL Application ?

    Hi,
      Can you please explain me the steps for creating POWL application ?
      I know the Help link   http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/44/36ca0563df660ee10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
    But this is not so clear, If any body can explain any one example from the scratch how to create a New POWL Application would be really helpful for me.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hi,
    Steps to create a POWL.
    1) Create a feeder class .
    already existing feeder class can we used for reference
    CL_POWL_DEMO_SFIGHT.
    2) CREATE a application id
    3) Create a POWL Type and register it with powl_type transaction.
    4) Create a query and register with application id with powl_query transaction.
    5) Now the question is it a embedded powl or standalone.
    6) If standard, in powl_ui_comp wd component run it,
    in url add a parameter applid = application id you created.
    Best regards,

  • How to Create SOA Application.

    hi friends,
    iam using J2EE Development NWDS,anybody knows how to start SOA application.
    thanks in advance..

    Hameem
    It depends on what development technologies you are familiar with. If you are a Java developer, then you can use NWDS. If you know ABAP, then ABAP proxies can be developed.
    You can first create web service and then register in ESR or you can first create service interface ESR using the Enterprise Service Builder and then generate either Java or ABAP proxy.

  • How to create an application with a 'Windows' like interface?

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application with an windows like interface where menu selections need to open bound taskflows in a page/window but i can not get it to work. I did the following
    - i created a page template with a panelStretchLayout
    - added a menuBar with commandMenuItems
    - created a start page based on the template
    - created bound taskflows with page fragments for all menu items
    - placed a dynamic region on the start page which initially shows a taskflow with an empty/blank page fragment
    - change the dynamic region taskflow from every menuitem and added partial triggers on the dynamic region for every menu item
    When i run the application the first empty page fragment is showed correctly but when i select a menu item the correct new page fragment is showed but it keeps showing a loading data .... hint and seems to freeze. So no data is showed while the underlying datacontrols work while using the bc tester.
    Besides this problem i am wondering if i at all am going the right way with this with using a dynamic region? In the final application i will have a total of about 25 menu items over several menus and if they all will be showing in one main dynamic region with partial triggers set to all menu items it may get a bit complex? I saw you can also create a window in a popup which i like even more because it looks like an actual window but this is modal. I would like a bound taskflow to be opened whenever a menu selection is made.
    Any pointers or tips or the solution to not showing data?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre

    Hi Sascha,
    If have not encountered that problem. Are you sure you have a taskflow entry under the executables tag in the page definition of the page which has the dynamic region on it? I have one like this:
    <taskFlow id="dynamicRegion1" taskFlowId="${DynamicRegionBean.dynamicTaskFlowId}" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller/binding"/>
    During the selection of its initial value when it is rendering for the first time it should have the session bean already initialized. My bean looks like this:
    public class DynamicRegion {
    private String taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/startTF.xml#startTF";
    public DynamicRegion() {
    public TaskFlowId getDynamicTaskFlowId() {
    return TaskFlowId.parse(taskFlowId);
    public String feitenTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/feitenTF.xml#feitenTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    public String themasTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/themasTF.xml#themasTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    public String feitCategorienTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/feitCategorienTF.xml#feitCategorienTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    The startTF is the initial taskflow and the other methods are being called from my menu. The dynamic region has the menu items as partial triggers. That is all i did.
    Kind Regards,
    Andre

  • How to create web applications with the LabVIEW web server

    Wonderful Forum,
    I've noticed that sometimes it can be tricky for LabVIEW users to learn how to create their own custom web clients using the LabVIEW web server. I created a LabVIEW web development community group and wrote some tutorials to teach the basics of creating web clients using HTML, Javascript, and AJAX. The idea is that LabVIEW users without any web background can quickly look at some tutorials and examples to get started on their own projects.

    What do you think?

    Hi Joey,
    A great idea! I recently presented at a local user group meeting about my WebSockets API (see the links in my signature). I've uploaded the presentation and the demo code I gave to our UG here.
    I think the barrier to entry is with needing to know the web languages (e.g. html/css/js) as well as writing your LabVIEW code. I have joined the group and look forward to seeing some interesting content on there! Certainly some demos of using AJAX to make requests to Web Services and do something with the data (e.g. display on a graph) would be a good place to start.

    Hi Lukas,
    You can use Mass device setup (MDS) for the same.
    Setup Package Or Software Package should serve your purpose.
    Setup package: You can packeg Server/connection detailsApplicationDevice details.
    Software package: Server/connection Details+Application.
    Please refer to the documentation for creating MDS.
