How to create Cross Tab type report?
Hey all,
I am in the process of converting an application. The current application uses Crystal Reports to generate a Cross Tab report. I want to use Oracle to generate this type of report. Can anyone tell me how this is accomplished?
A cross tab report in Oracle is a matrix report. You can use the report wizard to build this type of report.

Iam generating reports in a web-based application with Crystal Reports XI using Report Application Server(RAS) SDK API. The columns in my report exceed that of an A4 sized page. So, when I export that report to pdf, only those columns that fit to a page are showing up. To solve, this problem, I thought of using cross tab. But, I donot know how to generate cross tab report using RAS SDK API. I have tried to get some code from the internet. But, I did not find any java code for that.Can some one give me some sample code.It is very urgent.

The easiest way I use is to create the worksheet as regular table and then when i verify the data I get (non aggregate) I duplicate it as a cross tab.
In the duplication wizard I just need to define the axis (using drag and drop).
if you want to create a cross tab from the beginning you need to define that in the new workbook wizard (check the "cross tab" rather then "table"), chose your fields and define the place you want them.
The data point (the center of the cross tab) is aggregated as to your machine definition and will happen automatically.
for example: to find the amount of receipt by months:
On the left put the "Buyer Name", on top put the "Months" and in the data point put the amount.
What you'll get is something like:
months: jan feb mar apr ......
buyer_name
jhon_smith 100 50 30 250 ......
jhon_doe 80 45 90 453 ........
and so on..... -

a) create table query with: course title, final grade, count of final grade
b) duplicated query as cross tab
c) dragged course title to left
d) noticed that Discoverer create a "field" - called data point for: count of final grade
e) delete all vertical fields and just left count of final grade

1) I tried a few times to create a cross tab before posting quest, and this is the first time that I see that
Discoverer automatically created a field called datapoint for count of final grade. Do you have to follow
a crosstab workflow carefully to the data point field to be created?
2) what is definition of data point?
3) Please confirm: The data point is located in the white space of the cross tab?
4) Please confirm: When running the query, the values of final grades run across the top,
including "blank" column for null value
5) If (4), there is a column to tabulate rows with null values, why is the value 0, instead of an actual row count
6) Under the various column values, is the name of the datapoint field running as a second heading row

Achieving SubTotals in CROSS Tab XML Report
Hi,
I have a requirement to obtain subtotals in cross Tab XML report.
X-axis and Y-axis columns and values are generated dynamically from Query.
The Y-axis contains heirarchy. In between these heirachies, i need to have subtotals.
If required, i can send rtf and xml source via email.
Please let me know if anyone has implemented before?

Cross tab(matrix) report in XML publisher
hi,
i am making a cross tab report (industry,year,amount) with row subtotal='true' (by default). i.e.
(Industry) 2008 2009 2010 total
abc ltd. 50 100 160 310
xyz ltd. 100 200 300 600
pqr ltd. 10 20 30 60
after creating cross tab, when i am going to properties of industry this is showing <?./H?> and properties of year this is showing <?./M?> and properties of amount this is showing <?./L?> and properties of total this is showing <?./T?> which i think automatically created.
then i have to put a condition that, if industry like pqr ltd. then total should be null otherwise this should show the total as it is.
i.e
(Industry) 2008 2009 2010 total
abc ltd. 50 100 160 310
xyz ltd. 100 200 300 600
pqr ltd. 10 20 30
how should i have to write condition for this in total property tag.Hi
the crosstab praser now creates an in memory object to process. To get the total to hide you could use

Step 1: Create Infotypes
i. Goto Transaction PM01 To create Infotypes:
ii. Enter the Infotype Number and say create all.
iii. The following message would display:
i. PSnnnn Does not exist. How do you want to proceed?
iv. Click
v. A maintain Structure screen appears.
Fill in the short text description and the PS structure of the Infotype.
Since the fields Personnel No, Employee Begin Date, End Date, Sequential Number,Date of Last Change, Name of user who changed the object are available in the PAKEY and PSHD1 structure, define the PSnnnn structure with only the fields you required.
vi. Once the PS Structure is created, save and activate the structure.
vii. In the initial screen of PM01, now click on .
Create a new entry for the infotype.
Fill in the values as mentioned below and save.
Infotype Characteristics:
Infotype Name of the infotype_ Short Text: __Short Description________

Time constraint = 1

I am trying to create this tabbed SSRS Report as shown below. What would be the best practice to do this? I understand how to get the query to get the columns, but tabs are a little confusing for me. Maybe 3 different reports with links to each?

Per my understanding that you want to create an tabbed SSRS Report that click each tab will display different kind of reports, right?
I have tested on my local environment and as in the snapshot you have provided that we have three tabs(Loan overview,Loans to Date and Demographics), we can create three textbox to display as the three tabs in each three reports and then create three different
reports for each tabs, when click on the different tabs will link to different reports.
Details information below for your reference:
Create three report(Report1,report2,report3).
Create three textbox and enter the value(Loan Overview,Loans to Date and Demographics) in report1.
Repeat step2 to create the three textbox in Report2 and report3.
Right click Textbox(Loan Overview) and select the "Textbox properties" and cilck the "Action" on the left pane, then select the "Go to Report" to specify a report (Report1), after the setting when you click
the textbox it will link to the Report1.
Repeat the step4 to setting the "Go to Report"action for Report2 and Report3
Repeat the step4,step5 to add the "Go to Report" action on each report's three textbox.
Deploy the three reports to the Report Server.
Note: you can also add the "Go to URL" action instead of the "Go to Report" action and specify the URL of the each reports in the report Manager, but before do the setting, please deploy the three report and get the URL first.

RegardsI've found that when the sort is out of the order I want, it's necessary to set up a calculation that sets a key to use instead of the field value.
So case when field = 'ccc' then 'a. ccc'
when field = 'aaa' then 'b. aaa'
and so on.
That initial character then forms the basis of the default crosstab sort. -

The Cross-client switch identifies which transaction variants are cross-client and which are client-specific. If the switch is set, the transaction variant is cross-client. If the switch is not set, the transaction variant is client-specific.
A client-specific transaction variant can only exist in the client where it was created. The field contents of the transaction variant only have to be available in the particular client. A cross-client transaction variant is available in the system regardless of which client is currently active. The field contents of the transaction variant have to be available in all clients.

But thinking of a possible solution every time a child operation fails have a catch block where you you go back to system if the parent needs to be deleted if yes, call Delete Method on the parent.
Note: Make sure that the decision on whether or not the parent record needs to be deleted will depends on the question "Does Parent Record already has several other children associated to it or not"
