Hi,
Please let me how to create data source for Weblogic RMI driver using Administrator

I understand that the following steps are required:
1.Create connection pool for the RMI driver by specfiying URL as
jdbc:weblogic:rmi and Driver as weblogic.jdbc.rmi.Driver. Now
comes the problem.. what do put in properties text area? I am
talking about key/value pairs required?
2. Having done step 1 ( which I was not able to do) , create a new DataSource
mapping to the connection pool created from step 1.
How to accomplish step 1 ? I want to finally connect to Oracle
database. Please help me.
pradeep bhatDataSource will internally do that for you (It will use RMI internaly) . You
dont have to worry about the details of using RMI driver. Thats what is a
DataSource is for.

Hi Sree,
What u have written is abt configuting Datasource for type 2 and
4 drivers.
But I want to know how to create data source for RMI driver. If
I map this datasource to connection pool that is created for
type 2 or 4 drivers, i don't understand why RMI drivers are
required in first place. If i do map the data source to connection pool
created
for type 2 or 4 drivers then where i
would not have used the URL as jdbc:weblogic:rmi and Driver as
weblogic.jdbc.rmi.Driver.
Hope u will help me.

Hi Pradeep
To create a connection pool you have to use a database driver not RMI
driver. So use a thin driver or the WebLogic jDriver for Oracle to setup
your connection pool. Once the connection pool is created you can create
a
DataSource and use this datasource to connect to the database.
The RMI driver can be used to get connections from the database via the
connection pool and in that case you dont need a datasource. Recommended
approach is to use a DataSource.

You will also have to create an infopackage to get the data from the source system into the BI system.

3. For Invoices MIS tables are - RBKP & RSEG.

How to creat individual Datasource for 1.Finance & Payemnt Mis , 2. Inventory, 3. Invoices, 4. Taxation , 5. Mater data. ?Hi,
Go for the generic data sources.
1. first create the view on all the tables.
You can only use join conditions but not Union.
you can specify one table as primary table based on your requirement.
2. build the data source based on the view.

Create Data Source Module using OMB
I am not seeing how to create Data Source modules using OMB. I am assuming there is a property of OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE that I am overlooking. If anyone can provide assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
craigHi,
Yes, there is a OMBCREATE command for creating Oracle Modules. And as per the Scripting ref Guide ( Page 4-157 owb 9i scripting guide) -
OMBCREATE ORACLE_MODULE 'src_module' SET PROPERTIES (DESCRIPTION, BUSINESS_NAME) VALUES ('this is an Oracle module', 'source module') This will create an Oracle module named "src_module", its description is "this is an Oracle module", and business name is "source module".

Newbie Question: Creating Data Sources
Our current Hyperion setup consists of the Hyperion 9.3 client that users access via a terminal server. We are trying to get the web version of Hyperion running.
I installed some base components of the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System (11.1.1.2.0.940). It all starts fine and I can login with admin, but I do not see how to create data sources or load .bqy query files. If I create a new interactive reporting document, it makes me choose a Data Source from the virtual directory in which I do not have one. if I try to import one, or import a .bqy file, I browse to the file, select it, then always get a "File path is wrong." error. I also found how to create Data Sources using the CMC, but I do not see how to reference these. What am I doing wrong?.HI,
What version of Hyperion planning are you using version 9.3 or epm11.1?
Because they have different ways of creating datasources.
In version 9.3 you can create datsource in the configuration utility.
While in version 11 you need to create planning application first before creating datasource either by classince planning application or epm.

Generic Data Source for Hierarchies
Hi guyz,
Can any body tel how to create generic data source for hierarchies, plz give me the steps to do it.
Thanks & Regards
Veera1. Generate the DataSource for FI-SL sets using the BW IMG (Transaction BW07).
2. FI-SL sets are not compounded in OLTP. If you want to extract FI-SL sets for a coumpound characteristic in BW, proceed as follows:
a) Select the 'BW InfoObject (characteristic) is compounded' field and enter a data element (compound information of the meta data).
b) After generating the DataSource, execute compounding in a customer exit. To do this create, a project for the SAP enhancement RSAP0001 in Transaction CMOD, and program EXIT_SAPLRSAP_004 (ZXRSAU04) as described in the attachment.
3. Execute the following steps in BW:
a) Update the meta data for the FI-SL sets in the InfoSource tree.
b) Maintain the transfer structure and transfer rules.
c) If the extracted set hierarchies contain intervals, you must allow intervals in hierarchies for the characteristic in BW. Check the hierarchy properties of the characteristic in Transaction RSD1 and set the "Intervals in hierarchies allowed"
4. With this solution you can only extract sets created in Transaction GS01 (set class 0000).
If the hierarchy list in BW for the set data source is empty, first check in the OLTP system whether set class 0000 contains suitable sets at all. To do this, start Transaction GS02 (not GS03!). Field Set class may be displayed; if this is the case, enter 0000 there. Position the cursor on field Set name and select F4. Enter the table and field name you specified in Transaction BW07 in popup "Select sets" and select "Continue (Enter)". If message GR003 "An appropriate object was not found" is displayed, the hierarchy list in BW is also empty.
5. For CO groups (set class 01xx), the following DataSources are contained in the standard delivery
· 0ABCPROCESS_0107_HIER Business process
· 0ACCOUNT_0109_HIER Account number
· 0ACTTYPE_0105_HIER Activity type
· 0COORDER_0103_HIER Order
· 0COSTCENTER_0101_HIER Cost center
· 0COSTELMNT_0102_HIER Cost element
· 0PROFIT_CTR_0106_HIER Profit Center
· 0STKEYFIG_0104_HIER Stat. key figure
On principle, sets can also be created for the DDIC fields of these objects in R/3 GS01.
From Release 4.0, this no longer makes sense since the CO groups can then be used anywhere in FI-SL.
With regard to the conversion of sets to CO groups in Release 4.0, please refer to the FI-SL-VSR Release Information for 4.0A and Notes 92029 and 51132.
6. For other set classes, no DataSources are delivered. -

How to change data source of Universe
Hi,
I have two databases called A_Database and B_Database
Same tables and data are in both the databases.
I created universe U_universe using A_Database. It is working fine
Now I would like to change from A_Database to B_Database in U_universe without affecting any thing in U_universe because tables and data are same.
Please let me know following doubts.
1.How to do above things?
2.if A_Database and B_Database are in different server, how to overwrite data source in the universe
3.if A_Database and B_Database are in the same server, how to overwrite data source in the universe
Thanks and Regards,
ManjunathIn Designer, import your universe, click on File>Paramers or click on parameters icon on the tool bar and change connection used by the universe from one pointing to Universe A to one pointed to universe B.

Problem with embedded data-sources.xml and custom UserManager
Hi all,
Our application uses a custom UserManager, which is basically extended from the JDBC UserManager, declared as follows in orion-application.xml:
<user-manager class="com.infocorpnow.a2g.security.oracle.A2GUserManager">
<property name="table" value="pos.users" />
<property name="userNameField" value="username" />
<property name="passwordFiled" value="password" />
<property name="dataSource" value="jdbc/A2GDS" />
<property name="groupMemberShipTableName" value="pos.user_roles" />
<property name="groupMemberShipGroupFieldName" value="role_name" />
<property name="groupMemberShipUserNameFieldName" value="login_id" />
</user-manager>
Since we want to be able to deploy the application several times on the application server, and therefore have each deployment of the ear point to its own datasource (i.e. its own local "A2GDS"), we've found out how to embed data-sources.xml inside the EAR file we're deploying, and modify the orion-application.xml as follows:
<data-sources path="./data-sources.xml" />
And then place data-sources.xml in the same meta-inf folder as the orion-application.xml.
This has worked fine when deploying to the standalone OC4J.
Now when I try to deploy the exact same EAR file in Oracle 9iAS, and I get to the User Manager screen, the Custom User Manager does not show up correctly. It did show up prior to me embedding the data-sources.xml. Please help? This is fairly urgent.
Thanks
JasonI should also mention I'm using the Java Edition of 9iAS R2 (9.0.3 container) on Solaris.

Create data source in BI 7.0?
hi,
while creating data source in BI 7.0 , ( from flat file data)
under extraction tab:
character set settings : default and direct entry is there
if i select direct entry i am getting character set and replacement character.
what scenerio we use direct entry and what scenerio we use default. if i select direct entry what is effect for my output.
please clarify.
regards
ss<b>System Default or Fixed Entry</b>
If you choose <b>Default Setting</b> for the character set, in Unicode systems a file in UTF-8 format is expected, in non-Unicode systems a file in the format of the system code page is expected.
If you choose <b>Direct Input</b> for the character set, you can select an SAP character set and determine a replacement character, in case errors occur while converting to the system character set.
<b>SAP Character Set ID</b>
The 4-character name of an SAP character set as defined in SAP character set maintenance.
The following explains the naming convention in more detail:
First digit: Code
0 EBCDIC character sets
1 ASCII character sets
2 mixed single byte / double byte character sets
4 double-byte character sets
6 mixed character sets
8 double byte and multibyte character sets
9 reserved for code pages you define
Second digit: Country
1-3 countries that use the Latin alphabet (Western Europe, North and South America, Australia, Africa)
4-6 countries that use non-Latin alphabets and writing systems (Eastern Europe, Asia, Arabic countries in Africa)
7-9 reserved for special languages
Third and fourth digits: Sequential number
Example
0100 IBM 00697/00273 (Latin 1 - Germany/Austria)
0401 SNI BS2000 8859-5 EHCLC (cyrillic - multiple languages)
