First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet,jsp,java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...

On Windows double click the der or cer certificate. This should open it in the
Certificate viewer.
Open the Details tab, click on the Copy to File button and select pkcs #7 format.

Urgent! How to create a ebook using web services?

Hi I would need some help on how to creating a e-book using web services. Sample code would be good for me.
I had been finding sources for quite sometime but i doesn't seems to be easy to find as compare to andriod.
Description:
Windows 8.1 SDK Sliverlight.
The e-book will on PDF format.
Once user click e-book icon, i would link to my database to retrieve all the ebook available via web services.
Then user select the e-book, the content will be again retreive from my database to the users.
Is there any solution? I need it quite urgent.

According this approach, I would suggest you make good use of build-in API to render PDF in store app. see more classes in the following namespace.

for you to try.
Step 1, Store PDF file in web site folder and save the PDF URL in database.
Step 2, Use Web service/WCF/REST service to public the PDF to store app.
Step 3, Store app uses service to get PDF list and then display them.
Step 4, User choose one PDF, get the PDF download URL from service and then download it on local storage. Store app support download file form server, you can use BackgroundDownloader. See from

SharePoint chart webpart to display charts. Or you can use any jQuery charting library and feed data using JSOM or REST. Ex. high charts:

How to create a print format in SAP

Hi,
I dont know if this is the right forum to ask this, but I have not done this for a long time. Does anybody know how to maintain a print format such as "X_65_200" that you use when printing a report in SAP? I'm trying to create a format that will use a Legal size paper. Useful answer will be rewarded.

The Print formats are maintained in TSP1D Table.. it is usually done by the BASIS folks..

Hi Nitin,
You can create a new page format by transaction code SPAD. Here you will have to create a cutomised page format for ex: 'ZPAGE'.
After this you will have to create a format type 'ZPAGE'. Assign the page format 'ZPAGE' to format type 'ZPAGE'. Pls make sure that both the names are identical.
Once you do that you will have to assign the format type ZPAGE to the printer which you want to use.
Now you can use this page format in your script.

How to handle different date formats ?

I'm currently writing an application that has to be compatible with different database backends.
But I have some problems with the date/time fields when using Oracle as a db backend:
After searching the forums, I found a solution for my "inserts" problem:

But when I want to retrieve this data, the timestamp is returned in another format:
result = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM DATE_TEST");
This gives me "2004-03-25 15:59:44.0" for the timestamp !
when I run exactly the same query in the Oracle SQL*Plus console, I get the correct format:
SQL> SELECT * FROM DATE_TEST;
VAL1 VAL2 VAL3 TIME
val1 val2 val3 25/03/2004 15:59:44
SQL>
I already tried the trick with the NLS_DATE_FORMAT before retrieving the data, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Any ideas how I can manipulate the format of a DATE field for retrieval ?

This is what I use:
- Oracle 9i, Release 2 (9.2.0.1.0) for Windows (on windows 2000 Server)
- ojdbc14.jar (Oracle thin jdbc driver)
- j2sdk 1.4.2-04 for my application (currently running on windows server 2003 Enterprise, but is also tested on windows 2000, xp, linux, solaris)

well, in fact I wrote a "dbAdapter" which I use to let my application communicate with a database.
the method I use to retrieve data from the db just reads the resultset row by row, adding each row to a

It is correct indeed that I want to keep it as vendor neutral as possible, because other databases will
be added in the (near) future (such as IBM's DB2)
I already thought about formatting it using the SimpleDateFormat class, but then I have to rewrite most
of the code in my dbAdapter, because it doesn't know anything about the field types.
It just launches standard SQL queries and returns the result back to the requesting object

How to create different roles into a single profile

I would like to create different roles and add all them to a single pofile. But when I try, it is asking for a profile name for every role that I create.
I have also tried to give the same profile name while creating a second role, but it is giving me error that the profile name already exists.
Can someone help to get some clarity on this?

I agree with you. But, whenever I try to create a single role, it is asking for a profile name that has to be assigned to that particular single role. I cannot go further until I give a profile name.

Is there a way on how to create different Synch settings for iPhone / iPad

My first time in this forum. I have an iPad and an iPhone. Everytime I sync my iPad and my iPhone with iTunes the sync settings are the same in both devices. So everytime I sync devices Apps that I have in my iPad show up in iPhone and vice versa. Is there a way to create different sync settings for my iphone and iPad?. Basically I do not want Apps from my iPads to be synched with iPhone and Apps that I have in my iPhone to be synched with my iPad. It is kind of annoying that everytime I synch I have to remove apps from my iPhone.
Can I also do the same for playlists?

Each device has its own set of sync preferences. What you may be seeing is the result of the Automatically sync new Apps option listed underneath the list of apps on the Apps tab. Untick this for each device next time you sync and then purchases made on one device won't automatically turn up on the other. You shoud also make sure automatic downloads are disabled in Settings > iTunes & App Stores.
