How to create documents on Mac that are compatible with Windows?

I have just started working in InDesign for a client who uses InDesign and wanted me to learn the program so that they could make changes on their own in the future to documents I create for them.  I am working on a Mac OS 10.6.2 They have PCs and are working in a Windows environment.  I sent the first packaged dvd for their printer and sent it to them last week.  Everything looked beautiful on this end, no errors, packaged with links and fonts.  When they received the disc the font files on the disc that looks perfect on my computer-- on their computer all read as 0kb and they can't make it work.  I have used truetype, type 1 and open type fonts.  I just read something in an earlier discussion about true type and T1 as being problematic with PCs?  What can I do to be compatible?

My apologies. I find working in unfamiliar computer systems challenging and after over an hour on the phone trying to help an inexperienced PC user find fonts and find her way around InDesign with which she was even less familiar on a PC, a platform with which I have had no experience in the last 13 years, I was frustrated. My comment was inapropriate to this forum.  I do realize that PCs are valuable tools.  The computer system one is familiar with is always the best platform there is when in the middle of a complicated job.

  • Fieldpoint Hardware Drivers that are compatible with LV 8.5 and Windows Vista

I trying to develop in LabVIEW for some Fieldpoint hardware. I was going to download the hardware drivers from NI, but only see drivers that are compatible with Windows XP and LV 8.2
Or, am I just misinterpreting this?
Also, are there any potential conflicts with me developing on Vista, if my end-user, is uding another OS?

One should welcome adversity as an opportunity to excel.

    Hi Daddy-O,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.  This is a little misleading, and unfortunately the driver you are looking for is currently not directly searchable.  In order to use your FieldPoint hardware with LabVIEW 8.5 and Windows Vista, you will need the FieldPoint 6.0 driver.  This can be found within the disk that is distributed with new FieldPoint hardware, and any Device Drivers CD from August 2007 forward.  Unfortunately, a standalone installer is not available for this driver, and if you do not have a hard copy of the Device Drivers, you can download this here.  From this installer, you should be able to select FieldPoint 6.0 and install this software.
I hope this helps!  Let me know if there is anything else I can clarify.  Have a great day!

  • Wireless hard drives that are compatible with Wind...

    Hi there,
I was wondering whether anyone knew of any wireless hard drives that are compatible with Windows phones, I currently have a Nokia Lumia 1020 and when researching on Internet I can only find ones that are compatible with IOS, Android and Kindle devices but not for Windows phones plus I've got unlimited data for 3 months which I really want to make use of. Your help would be much appreciated.

I don't think any conversions are needed, just get yourself an external USB 3.5" floppy drive and drag the documents onto your iMac's HD. You should be able to locate one on Ebay or maybe even Amazon. To open them you will need something that reads .doc files like Pages, MS Word for Mac etc..

  • Hi, I've got an imac using mac os x version10.4.11, does anyone know of any printers that are compatible with this operating system version?

Hi, I've got an imac using mac os x version10.4.11, does anyone know of any printers that are compatible with this operating system version?

Yesterday I set up a Canon IP3600 to work on a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.4.11. It is a print-only unit. I got the 10.4 drivers off the Canon website before connecting the printer. Many Brother printers still have support for older Mac OS versions.
If you need a multi-function device, it is gettng very hard to find any that support PowerPC Macs (pre-2006) of OSX versions older then 10.6 any more.
As you posted in the PowerPC iMac forum I assume you have one. However, there are some Intel Macs (2006 and newer) still running 10.4. Check "About this Mac" under your Apple menu: if it says you have an Intel processor, you have many more doors open.

  • Is there a way to filter content search in iTunes to show only those apps/music etc that are compatible with a particular hardware/software/firmware configuration.

It is annoying to download an app that subsequently states it is only for iPhone 4 or OS x.x.x
Is there some way of filtering content or content search to show only those items that are compatible with whatever hardware/firmware I happen to be using?
Interestingly in the Apple drop down list of Products the earliest iPhone shown is 3G !!  Have they disowned all models they sold before that variant?  I have an iPhone 2G.  Works well, does what it says on the tin, have no reason/need to throw away and buy another.  Yet they manage to provide firmware updates (now 3.1.3) for a product that is not listed!!!

And some more info I just found...
I found a web article that confirms that it is possible to clean ("sanitize" or "scrub") the files manually on Mac. It even provides a link that (I am assuming) details how to do it.
Unfortunately, the link doesn't work for me. Does the link work for anybody else?
    Here's the article: http://lawyerist.com/remove-metadata-with-batch-software/
Scroll down to the 3rd section "How to remove metadata?" to see the link that I'm referring to.

  • How can I find a printer that is compatible with my ox 10.4.11 operating system

    Helllo,
I have several questions but my most current one is how can I find a printer that is compatible with my current operating system?

Brother is good about supporting older Mac OS versions. We have their HL5250DN b/w laser that supports all the post-1997 Macs in the house, including a 1998 vintage Beige G3 minitower running OS 10.3.9. There is also a driver with OS9 support on the Brother web site.
The bigger problem, based on posts I see in these forums, is not a printer failing to support an older OS but one not supporting a new Mac OS. There are numerous posts after a big OS version change (like the intro of Lion) where people run out and buy whatever printer looks cute/sounds good without researching whether the device supports the new OS yet. Printer makers are often not good about having updated drivers developed by the time Apple rolls out a new OS.

  • I want to buy surveillance cameras and software that are compatible with Mtn Lion, what do you suggest?

I want to buy surveillance cameras and software that are compatible with Mtn Lion, what do you suggest?

You do have the ability to create good user interfaces with LabVIEW.
The main problem is what do you, or your customer consider a good user
    interface.
The first thing I would suggest is to start using the "Dialog Control"
controls for your front panel. This set of controls pick up their style
from the operating system, so they will match the rest of the system
    applicaitons.
Another thing is limit the use of color on the front panel. One persons
idea of a nice shade of blue can be another person eyesore. Instead,
use the decorations for grouping of controls.
I would stay away from ActiveX. It's interface is quirky at best and there is a lot of overhead involved.
Just to show it's possible, the attached images are screen shots of
user interfaces I've designed with LabVIEW. The first two use the
Dialog Controls, and the third uses standard controls and color at the
    customers request.

  • I just bought a 5g iPod touch and was wondering if there were any ihomes out or coming out soon that are compatible with this device? I know about the lightning adapters but read about their bad reviews and would like to avoid buying one for my ihome

I just bought a 5g iPod touch and was wondering if there were any ihomes out or coming out soon that are compatible with this device. I know there are adapters and cables you can purchase to use with your existing ihome but read the poor reviews on them and was scared away. I use my ihome very regularly and need this accessory to work with my new iPod. If you have any information on this, please help!

iHome already makes docks that support the Lightning connector:

  • Hi, i want to buy headphones that are compatible with my 3rd gen. shuffle

hi, i want to buy headphones that are compatible with my 3rd gen. shuffle. can you please recommend which to purchase? It appears that you do not sell the older headphones style.

This is a user to user forum. Apple is not here.
for headphones, any 3.5mm headphones will work just fine.
Apple sells the Earpods which should work just fine with a shuffle. And there are also other brands available.
Make sure you choose the wired earphones.  Wireless ones will not work with a shuffle.

  • How do i know if my itunes is compatible with windows 64 bit?

How do i know if my itunes is compatible with windows 64 bit?

Did you download the 64-bit installer?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
