First, I want to clear up some vocabulary issues. After Effects is not intended for editing video. Editing involves cutting shots together to tell a story. Premiere Pro edits video. While you technically can cut video together in AE, Premiere is much, much better for that.
After Effects is used for creating shots - visual effects, compositing, motion graphics, animation, color correction, color grading, etc.
What exact version number of AE (down to the decimal points) are you using? Plus the questions Todd asked, plus the info in the link he gave.
Also, if you're new to AE, you should really start here. This resource will give you a foundation in how to actually use After Effects that will probably clear up your current problem and prevent much more frustration in the future.

The difficulty and time to do it depends on the learning
capability of the new programmer. Patience and a drive to learn is
what all is needed. Accomplishing one step at a time is probably
the best approach, whether you're new or well-versed.

Scan line write-on effect like this...

I am looking to create a scan-line "write on" effect like this.

I downloaded the projects but they didn't do exactly what the movie did.

On the movie, the scanlines come down line by line, whereas in the project file, each line comes on randomly.
Also, on the movie there's a very nice brief glow going from side to side as each line is laid down.
When the scan lines go down they reveal an image. I guess you're using an image mask for that?
I looked for the project file that corresponds to the movie, but I couldn't find it.

Is it easy to do create a book page-peel effect [like this|http://www.outerspace-software.com/bixphotobook.html] ?
I am toying with the idea of physically getting a book with blank pages and then videoing in real time the pages peeling back attached to a piece of cotton.
The page peel effects in FCP are not useful since the page peels then floats off the screen.
The example above (bix photo book) is OK but looks a bit unreal to me and I don't like the page transparency.
Any ideas?

exactly, you can do a four corner pin track. This then distorts the image as the page turns. However it may not look exactly convincing if the page bends a lot and you'd expect the page to bend as well. Ideally you would want to use some sort of 3D mesh to bend the footage but that is not available in M3. Thats not to say you couldnt do something close that works, just depends what you want to achieve.

I have to create same that type of view for my application. my requirement like that i have one question and user can give answer of my question with unlimited number of lines. SO obviously we have to use UITableView. Now problem is that how can i decide my table row height and if there is two lines then answer portion should be small and if answer portion is big then it should be large with unlimited answers.
Does anyone know how to create this type of table view.

Hi,
i suggest reading some documentation. First you nedd to "tell" the tableView that it's rows are of different height. So you need to implement "tableView:heightForRowAtIndexPath:"
To calculate the height needed for a specific text you can use one of the "sizeWithFont" methods of NSString class. (http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UIKit/Reference/NSStringUIKitAdditions/Reference/Reference.html)

So, the below happened. Essentialy, Sony sent me four broken TVs, forced me to spend about 20 hours of time replacing those TVs, and has refused to replace my broken television. The below is a chain with one of your reps. I would never have expected such a poor customer service experience from a company of Sony's caliber. It has been very disappointing. You insist that you are giving me an "offer" but you have given me no options whatsoever.
I note that you continue to maintain that there is no viable replacement. However, a simple search on your webpage and online shows that there are multiple 48 inch LED televisions still available. I find your representation to be disengenuous. The below chain is only one point in the long line of frustrating communications with your representatives. All told me different things and made promises that were not kept. I can only imagine how my case file looks.
I would like an explanation from Sony how you could allow something like this to happen? This has been the most frustrating experience I have ever had with a electronics company -- and I have had alot. It has been terrible.

How you get away with treating your customers like this is beyond me. I am telling you that I purchased the television at a discounted rate that I am no longer able to obtain. In other words, the amount you are refunding me will not make me whole. I just spoke to an individual on the phone who told me that you could send a refurbished model . That conversation is exactly what prompted my email to this email address -- they told me to reach out here because you could provide me a better option rather than the two that were given. Now you are telling me that not only can you not offer me a better option but that you are taking away an option previously given. This is getting more and more ridiculous. I am sorry but this just isnt working for me. I dont understand how there is this much miscommunication between your departments.

How to create Mysql like table with LinkedList or LinkedHashMap

Is it possible to create a class which can create tables like Mysql tables? Take the following table as an example,
0, LastName0, FirstNam0, Ag0, Phon0
1, LastName1, FirstNam1, Ag1, Phon1
2, LastName2, FirstNam2, Ag2, Phon2
It's very easy to create a table in MySql with the following data. Now what if I want to create a table in the memory, so I can retrieve or SORT it whichever way I want. I might want to sort it by lastname or by phone number.
Is it possible to do that with LinkedList or LinkedHashMap?

1. Create a class with the fields lastName, firstName, age, phone of appropriate types
2. Create objects of this and put in some type of a collections (ArrayList, Vector)
3. Sort it using Collections.sort. Use a Comparator that compares the fields of interest

How can I do like this?

I'm running it on my MBP as well. I've got VMs for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Novell SLES10 SP1.
There is also VMWare Fusion which is a similar product and has provision for 64bit guest OSes.
