How to create Hierarchies in BW

HI All,
I have to create a new hierarchies in BW and later test them it works in the report.
Can anyone tell me how to create cost center hierarchies?
We already have a costcenter heirarchy coming from R/3. But we have to make a new alternate hierarchy for teh user

Hi M Thiyagarajan,
connect dimension to first level and after that connect that level to another one and so on. For level - each additional outgoing connection means additional hierarchy.

Hi,
directly you can't create hierarchy at bex level.
First you have to maintain hierarchy data source at source or bw side, based on your needs.
Later you can load data to hierarchy, after that at bex level you can activate hierarchy options to related info object properties.
To maintain hierarchy we need to enable hierarchy options at related info object(RSD1, hierarchy tab, select with hierarchies) maintenance level.
For example: info object - 0GL_ACCOUNT and you need hierarchy structure on gl account.
For that we need to have hierarchy data source and will load data from ecc.
Later we can develop reports on gl account in hierarchy fashion.
On what object infoo bject you want create hierarchy report and have loaded hierarchy data?

My requirement is - There are customer names & region names ,Client wants to go for dynamic cascading prompt and hard code the customer name ,bu t they DON'T WANT customer names to be appear in the cascading dynamic prompt input values (they wants to make customer names as confidential ) ,
Reporting tool Name - Crystal reports ,
Source - UNV
Older versions like BOXIR2 / BOXIR3 they used JSP to achieve this ,it worked fine ,Now they need to do the migration of older CR to new CR reports 2011 ,
In CR 2008 they achieved this through Business Views (Hard coded the customer names in JSP and called it in the CR 2008 ),
SAP BI4.0 won't support BV ,
Could you please help me in detail , how can i achieve it .

Hi Pradeep,
BI 4.0 still has Business Views and CR 2011/CR 2013 still support them.
CR for Enterprise does not support Business Views though.
Where do you wish to create the functionality? In the Universe or the CR Designer?
If it's the Universe, then is it a .unx or a .unv Universe?
CR 2011/CR 2013 will Not support a .unx Universe; only CR for Enterprise will.
If you're trying to create the prompts at the Universe level, then you've posted the question to the wrong space. You should post to the Semantic layer space.

Hi Ark,
Unfortunately, I don't know if any "how to" guides exist for hierarchies. To get a general understanding via BPC 7.0, I recommend going into BPC Administration. Select the ApShell appset, and select Manage Dimensions. Select the P_ACCT dimension. Select "Maintain dimension members". Select "View member report". This will provide you with an indented (hierarchical) view of the accounts.
Basically, hierarchies are created using the PARENTH1 (PARENTH2, PARENTH3, etc.) column. You may have the following IDs in an account dimension:
_ID_
Total_Revenue
Europe_Rev
German_Rev
Americas_Rev
By placing some IDs in the PARENTH1 column, you make those IDs parents and you've created a hierarchy.
_ID_                _PARENTH1_
Total_Revenue
Europe_Rev          Total_Revenue
German_Rev          Europe_Rev
Americas_Rev        Total_Revenue
So in an indented view, you now have the following:
Total_Revenue
Europe_Rev
    German_Rev
Americas_Rev
So German_Rev roles up to Europe_Rev. Both Europe_Rev and Americas_Rev role up to Total_Revenue. In this example, all IDs are roll-up IDs except for German_Rev and Americas_Rev, so only German_Rev and Americas_Rev can be used to input data.

How to create in R/3 functional area hierarchies (0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER)

First of all, thank you for your time, any help would be really appreciated and some points will be asigned to helpful answers.
Now my little problem...
We need to have in BW Functional Areas hierarchies.
To do that I have activated 0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER from bc. The problem is that there aren´t any functional areas structures defined in R/3 for the moment.
I've been doing some tests creating structures in R/3, transaction SPRO, "Define finantial statement versions", but when I try to upload them to bw, they don't appear in the hierarchy flow of 0func_area infoobject but in 0gl_account, despite I have filled the flag of "assignment of functional areas is permitted".
Also in R/3, when I run transaction SE38, program RSA1HCAT, Datasource with hierarchy type=0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER, an error message is displayed: "No hierarchy catalog in the source system".
That means they are not func area structures but GL account structures defined in R/3. Nobody in my team knows how to create these kind of structures so that I can load them as 0func_area hierarchies.
Could you help me please?

Got the same issue with trying to create/load the functional area hierarchy.
Don't know if this helps but if you want to use the hierarchy as defined by the financial statement version, use the hierarchy on the IOBJ 0GLACCEXT - Financial Statement Item.
Setup as follows:
IOBJ: 0GLACCEXT
Hier: 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER
Text: 0FUNC_AREA_TEXT and 0GL_ACCOUNT_TEXT

You can create Hierarchical Tree in two ways.
One using "connect by prior" and another
by Adding columns and row to record group at run time.
If your table has Self reference Key then
you can create using connect by prior.
Otherwise you have to go for second one.
Go and check the navwiz.fmb in oracle demo files.
Following example is from navwiz.fmb
(open navwiz.pll and then check refresh_tree)
In this example they used both.For Emp they used connect by prior.

How to create a custom Hierarchy in IDT 4.0

Hi All.
I am trying to create a custom hierarchy objects in the Information Design tool, But I am not able to find it here as same sort like the universe designer in 3.1 or 4.0 . I have found the navigational path but I am not sure how I can use it as a hierarchical objects in my reports, Can anyone please suggest how to create a custom hierarchical dimension in IDT 4.0.

Custom Hierarchy are called navigation path in IDT. I will suggest to go through the navigation path tutorials below

Hierarchical objects are no different than any regular objects but they enable the drilling in drill mode in the report and you can create a cascading prompt on top of them..

Reporting Enhancement - RSR00001 - BW: Enhancements for global variables in reporting

RSR00001- With this enhancement to global variables in reporting you have the option of determining your default values for variables. You can use this enhancement for variables, for which 'Processing by Customer-Exit' has been selected in the variable maintenance. This is valid for all variable types (characteristic value, node, hierarchy, formula and text variables). You use the Exit EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 for this.
The Enhancement component (RSR00001) must be assigned to a Project Created using the Transaction CMOD. On activating the Project, the Exit would become active and in turn the logic written inside the Exit.
To ensure that the data warehousing soultion reflects your company's structure and business needs it is critical that you establish who is authorized to access the data.With SAP BW, Authorizations can be defined and maintained by object and can also be applied to hierarchies and these authorizations can be inserted into roles that are used to determine what type of content is available to specific users or user groups.
