How to create IMAP subfolders?

Hi,
I used to have my archives mail onto my Mac itself. I recently added an IMAP server to my Linux box, and transfered my archives mails there.
When I was on my MAc I could select a folder and create a subfolder just by doing new folder. The new created folder was placed inside the folder I had clicked. I could also move folders within folder just by drag and drop.
Now, trying the same on my IMAP server, and Mail want to create the folder onto the main list all the time. I can create a subfolder unless I already have a folder that have subfolders into it.
Is it a bug or misconfiguration in Mail or on my IMAP server?
Thanks

I finally understood the way it work:
Folder of folders on an IMAP server are in white (not blue) but if I create a folder, it is blue by default and can contains only messages.
If I want to create subfolders, I need to create it with the main folder by entering (example) Main/subfolder. This will create a main folder with a subfolder by that name. Then I can create as much subfolder on the main folder as I want.

  • How to create iMAP email account in Mavericks

There used to have a choice to create POP or IMAP type of email account in OS X Mail.  No more in OS X Mavericks or did I miss something?

Actually, you can still do that by pressing the Alt/Option key when you first set up an email account and at the prompt where you enter your email address, username and password. I can't remember, but I think you press the Option key after you fill out that screen. I think the Create button changes to Next so you can manually select the type of email account (IMAP, POP).

  • How can i add subfolders in the mailsystem to classified my mails

how can i add subfolders in the mailsystem to classified my mails similar to outlook. Somebody with idea?-

You can't do it directly on the iPad. If your email account is setup as IMAP, create the folders on the server (either in Outlook or webmail) and then the folders will appear in iPad Mail.

  • Use Automator to create new subfolders in a selected folder

This seems like it should be easy to accomplish, but I have had no luck.
I want to be able to select a folder, and then run an Automator Service to create a specific set of subfolders within the selected folder.
I am able to set up automator to create the subfolders, but it does so in the folder containing the selected folder.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this simple task?

Which type of variable should I choose? I tried "text" but there's no way to set it to "input"? There are many Variables in the Library.
Here's how I have things set up now, I thought the "Service receives selected 'folders' in 'Finder'" (at the very top of the workflow area) would pull in the selected folder.
    Thanks!

How toI create a new folder in my iPad hotmail?

You can only do it with IMAP email account; to do this:
    1. Go to your email account in the Mail app and look at the window where your Inbox, Trash folder and Sent folder are.
    2. Tap the Edit button
    3. Tap Add Mailbox (bottom)
Note: If there is no Edit button, your email account is not a IMAP account

  • How to create an identical local copy of a mail without attachments?

    Hi,
I would like to save a copy of an IMAP-Message to my db without the attachments.
As I cannot modify the original message, I tried to create a new MimeMessage with the constructor MimeMessage(MimeMessage source) and then remove the attachments - this works fine so far, but using this constructor only the body seems to get copied without subject, recipients or from-address.
Can anybody give me a hint how to create an identical local copy of a Message-Object? I would rather like to do this without installing any local third party providers.
    Regards
    Karsten

Sorry, found the problem - I did some things with the InputStream before I should not have - now the message gets saved without attachments and can be reopened.

  • Create Multiple Subfolders in Lightroom or Have Lightroom Pick Up Multiple Empty Folders

I currently have Lightroom organize files into subfolders by date when importing photos. So, for example, when returning from a shoot today, all images will be imported into a subfolder called "2013-12-18", which Lightroom will automatically created if it does not exist.
    This is great.
Some of the images in the shoot belong to a set that I want to keep separate from the others. For example, an HDR or focus-stacked or panorama set.
What I do is create subfolders undernear the "2013-12-18" folder and manually move the sets into it. So I might end up with, for e.g.
      .../2013-12-18/
      .../2013-12/18/Set-01
      .../2013-12/18/Set-02
      .../2013-12/18/Set-03
      ... etc.
What I would like to do, however, is to reduce the pain of manually need to create each of the subfolders. Right now, I have to right click the parent folder ("2013-12-18"), select "Create folder inside 2013-12-18", type in "set-01", and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat. This is very inefficient and tedious.
Now, I can easily write a Bash or Python script to automatically create as many subfolders as I need in the correct parent directory. But Lightroom does not show or recognize these empty subfolders until I go through the above process (i.e. pseudo-"create" the subfolders) OR go to "Library > New Folder" and ask Lightroom to add the new folder. I thought at first that the latter would be the solution (i.e., I could just go to "Library > New Folder" and add all the new, externally-created, empty subfolders. Unfortunately, this dialog only lets me add one folder at time.  Quelle douleur!!!
Any suggestions on how to go about doing this? A plugin or somehow record an action? Or maybe change the way I import?
Note that I do not mind actually moving the images belong to a set into each subfolder manually myself. In fact, I cannot imagine doing it any other way, as only I (and not Lightroom) can tell which images belong to a particular set. Yes, I know Lightroom can autostack by capture time, but that is not relevant here because (a) I am not stacking yet and (b) capture time between images in the same set can be highly variable. But I *would* like to automate or otherwise make more efficient the process of creating the subfolders or having Lightroom recognize my externally created empty subfolders.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hi Christoph and all,
So if there can only be one Public Root folder, I have a question about expanding EDMS to incorporate more uses.  We have a small group of users now who use it and so they already have the EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER  document created with a certain doc type (FLD) which has some special rules coded with it that the lower level folders and documents inherit from it.   Now as part of our PLM project we are going to roll out EDMS to a broad audience who needs more general functionality which will come from an EDIPUBLICROOTFOLDER of a different document type (FOL).  Is it possible to create this new pubic root folder and somehow move the existing one with its specialized doc property inheritance to a subfolder within the new public root folder?
    Thanks,
    Joseph

  • How to create multiple folder levels of connections

Is it possible to create multiple levels of folders in the Connections tab. For example, I have 3 projects and each projects have dev, qa, prod. The documentations that come with sqlDeveloper2.1 only tells how to create 1 level of folder.
Please share your suggestion if any.
    Thanks.

I also tried this through the config file ~/.sqldeveloper/system2.1.0.63.73/o.sqldeveloper.11.1.1.63.73/product-preferences.xml.
Seems to me that nesting additional list elements for subfolders does not work.

Does anyone know how to create mail folders for oganizing the inbox? I can't figure it out, but likely, the answer will be "you can't".
I'm not using an IMAP mail host, I have a pop account with Yahoo!Mail.
    Any help is appreciated...
    Thanks.

I can't figure it out, but likely, the answer will be "you can't".
    How'd you know?
No, you cannot create folders on POP mail accounts on the iPhone. Let Apple know you would like to be able to do that.

  • Can anybody tell me how to create other mailboxes besides inbox, sent and trash on my iPhone4?

can anybody tell me how to create other mailboxes besides inbox, sent and trash on my iPhone4?

You can't create any mailboxes directly on your phone. Mailboxes/Folders have to be created on the mail server, then synced to your phone. This requires an IMAP account, as such is not possible with a POP account. Sounds like you have a POP account, if so you cannot create any mailboxes/folders.

  • How to create a new BAL on iPad 2 ?

How to create a new BAL on iPad 2 ?

You can't do it directly on the iPad. Assuming your email account is IMAP-based, log in to your email provider's webmail site and create the mailbox there. It will then appear in the iPad email client.
POP3 email accounts don't have the facility for different mailboxes/folders like an IMAP account does.
