How to create my first webcam clip?

Man, this question has got to be so rudimentary ... I don't even know how to google it. I tried a few basic terms and came up with mush. I thought I'd ask here and hope for some strong advice.
I've never made a webcam video and no nothing about it. I need to create short video talks for my business and don't know where to begin. I don't want to buy any more software, so I'm hoping one of these programs my new MacBook Pro came with will do the job.
The images just need to be as crystal clear as a webcam will allow and hold the audio sync together perfectly for when I learn how to upload stuff to YouTube.
By the way, sometimes I'll want to use my built in cam and sometimes I'll want to use my standard-def digital camcorder, assuming that makes better movies than the built in cam. I don't know if the process is any different for those two different sources.
Can anyone recommend my first steps? I don't even know what software to open and learn ... where to learn good settings, etc.

How to create HD H.264 Clips

Hey, can anyone walk me through how to make a HD quicktime clip using the H.264 codec?
I have a HDTV Capture / Tuner card and have captured some HD video clips. Such as the Wreckers singing Leave the Pieces on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Monday Night.
Using my HD software, I have extractive the native mpeg file from the transport stream. However, I'm having trouble playing it back in quicktime/itunes. Video works fine, but there is no audio!
here is the file details from the native hd mpeg.
Audio [AC-3]
Video: MPEG2 Video 1920x1080 29.97fps 45000Kbps [Video]
I have quicktime 7.0.4 Pro and the MPEG 2 Component.
I want to convert the MPEG to the H.264 Codec for better file size, and better performance and playback in itunes.
If someone could explain the process to me of what I need to do to create this mpeg clip as a H.264 Clip I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks=)

QuickTime cannot play MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio
(it's mentioned in the FAQ
). I believe you can use MPEG Streamclip (freeware) to convert the
track, both video and audio, to a format that
QuickTime can import and then export, but I'm not
certain, not having used it to convert any AC3.
Probably someone else here can tell you for sure, or
suggest an alternative.
What format do you or any one else suggest converting to first that would not lose any quality from the video?

How to Create a Generic Compound Clip?

Sometimes, when I create a Compound Clip, a generic "compound clip" is created - i.e. it is not given the option to be named, thus does not become an Event.
Other times, seemingly doing the same thing, I am forced to give the new clip a name, which then becomes an Event. It seems hit and miss -- sometimes I am asked to name them, sometimes not.
The problem is, that in reusing elements from previous episodes, when editing the named Compound Clip, the Event is edited, and the older episodes are affected.
My question: How can I choose to create non-named, non-event Compound Clips?

Thanks Tom. I am not aware of doing anything different between the two results. I simply select a bunch of clips, then right-click "New Compound Clip...". Sometimes it just does it, other times I get a dialog asking me to give it a name and choose the Event folder.
Perhaps I am incorrect, but I have done this for a long time, and never noticed what I am doing differently. Today, I am unable to reproduce the 'generic' compound clip.
Sorry I can't at this stage be more precise, but I admit that I must be doing something different to get the different results. I do have clips in my project that are simply called 'Compound Clip', and they do not belong in any Event (clicking on 'Reveal in Event Browser' does nothing). This is what I prefer.

How do I edit a merged clip in Audition, that was created in premiere to correct the synchronisation, and have it all updated to the premiere clip?
I have tried several tutorials but these either:
- show correction in premiere sequence (which is not practical; given the huge number of files we have)
- or show the editing in audition of a sequence, not the clip.
We have started merging audio and video (removing the original audio during merge) but some of the merged clips are out of sync, so we need to correct manually, BUT we want to correct the merged clip, which may or may not end up being used, so we do not want to take it to the sequence as all we are doing is prepare the synced files for editing.
Any idea how I can correct the synchronisation in Audition?, when I right click on clip and select "Edit in Adobe Audition" I get a list of files but not a multitrack session where I can see my video and audio tracks.

if premiere pro doesn't sync your footage properly, and you have a huge number of files, you may want to look at pluraleyes. there is a demo, and if it works properly, it would save you time to have it done right the first time, instead of tracking down random merged clips with bad sync.
premiere will either export a complete sequence or "edit clip in audition". the edit clip will create a copy of the original audio and open that in audition. there is no dynamic link, its just an audio file open in two programs at the same time. since there is no dynamic link, its not possible to bring merged clips into audition.

this doesn't give me much hope that audition or any other adobe program outside of premiere will help you fix the problem merged clips.

For AS2, you right click the movieclip symbol in the library and select the Linkage... option. In the panel that appears you select the first option (Export for Actionscript) and another is automatically selected. Then you assign an Identifier for it in the field at the top. To add that movieclip to the stage you use the attachMovie() method... for example...
this.attachMovie("linkageIdentifier", "instanceName", this.getNextHighestDepth());
In AS3 it is somewhat similar as far as assigning an Identifier, except you assign a Class name instead, and then add a new item to the stage as a new instance of the class...

I have created a hue/saturation adjust that I want to use as clip mask for a group of layers. How do I do that? I can create a single layer clip mask of hue/saturation but not a whole group of layers.

You can nest it with its adjustment layer in another group and set that group to normal (instead of pass through). But setting the second group to normal may affect any blending you have going on in the first group.

I would suggest that you go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure that Advanced Tools are enabled.
Then, you can drag your new video clip on top of your old clip and a popup menu should appear. Choose REPLACE.

Have them install Quicktime on their PC's from Apple's website, that's the easiest fix.

How to create clipping paths shape like a slice of a circle?

I want to make a DVD label by dividing the circle into 8 equal slices (like cutting a pie 4 times). In each slice I will put an actor's photo in it.
I think I need to create 8 layers to house the 8 slices of photo, each layer gets a clipping path that is in the shape of a 45 degree slice of the circle. Once I have this setup I can paste photos into the layers and adjust the photos until it looks good in the confine of each slice.
The question is how to create these clipping paths in the shape of a slice of the pie? I have already drawn a 120mm circle (using the elipse path tool) denoting the outside boundary of the dvd label. But I don't know how to cut it into 8 precise slices of 45 degree each. Help?

Here's another way:
Make a circle and a square that covers one quadrant of the circle. Select the square with the Path Selection Tool. Edit > Free Transform, using the reference point that corresponds to the center of the circle, and 90 minus the angle of the slice into the Horizontal Skew field. Hint: you can copy the results from the Windows Calculator and paste them directly into Photoshop for this. This will give you greater precision that you might care to enter by hand.
Once you have committed the transform, select 'Intersect shape areas' in the option bar for the Path Selection Tool, and click Combine. There's your slice.

This is my first post on this forum. I am totaly new to Oracle as I am working on one project which require Oracle as db.
I have installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. I can login by system user or as hr. Now when I am trying to create database instance for my project.net application, I am not finding the option to create the db. Its manual (even here in forum someone) pointed about Configuration and Migration Tool menu under Start/Oracle. But I don't have that option under my oracle. What I have is Start > Oracle Database 10g Express Edition > 1) Help 2) Backup Database 3) Get Started 4) Go to Homepage 5) Start SQL command line 6) Start Db etc...
Can anyone guide me how to create first database? Thanks in adv and your answer will really be appreciated.

I think I didn't explain properly. I can connect. I have got two database users as well. The one is default hr and second I just created as yatrik.
By saying how to create database, I want to accomplish this below procedure.
Run the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant located in the Windows Start/Oracle/Configuration and Migration Tools menu to create a database instance for the Project.net application. 1. Select Create a Database the click Next.
2. Choose the General Purpose database template.
3. Note the Global Database Name and SID that you use.
4. Choose your preferred management method. If unsure, chose the default.
5. Note the password(s) you use for the various accounts.
6. Select the appropriate storage mechanism for your installation. Again, if unsure, chose the default.
7. Specify the storage location.
8. And Recovery Configuration.
9. Do not install the Sample Schemas.
10. Select the remaining options, as appropriate to your installation, and create the database. Here when I go to Start > Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, I don't get Configuration and Migration Tools Menu anywhere. The above steps says how to create it but I can't find that tool menu.
I know how to create tables and all such but I am looking for that particular option where I can complete the above steps.
I hope I have explained more briefly to understand what I am trying to do.

Even ; and ' does the same. I mean what is the shortcut keys for first to last and last to first frame of a clip? Help please.

How to create a banner on every page

Hi,
I am creating my first website using iWeb. I have a banner that I want to display on every page of the site.
At the moment this banner is created from 1 text box and 3 images. I am currently copying and pasting this banner onto every page. This does not seem to be efficient.
I would like some advice as to how to do this efficiently, I would imagine there is some way of creating what I would call a 'header'?

Hi mrtcornel, i used your suggestion on creating content on every page using iFrame and a footer page. I am trying to have a song clip play throughout my site. anyhow, got the footer page to work and it plays when publishing, but don't think i understand how to get it to play on other pages. i copied the iFrame html snippet and placed it on another page, but nothing happens when i publish. is that what i was supposed to do?

i want to build a datagrid that shows a picture and underneath it a name.
the problem is i dont want to see all of the pictures, but all the pictures that have certain requirements, so i cant just make one movie clip that includes all the pictures and names.
so my question is how do i build a movie clip that contains photo and text?.

You do not create movieclips on the timeline using code, though you can create them and add them as children of something that has been manually placed in the timeline.
To create a MovieClip using code you use:
    var mc:MovieClip = new MovieClip();
If you need to add an image, then however you intend to acquire the image, after it has been acquired, you add it to the MovieClip using:
    mc.addChild(img);
where img is the instance of whatever form of object the image takes (Bitmap, Loader)
If you need to add a TextField to the MovieClip then you use:
    var tf:TextField = new TextField();
    mc.addChild(tf);
and you can set up properties for the textfield such as the font and color and position as well after it has been instantiated (the first line).

I made menu but it plays the first video clip and no autostart

Hi all,
I created a dvd today with a menu, but instead of starting at the menu and letting you choose it automatically plays the first clip when you play the dvd. And when I put the dvd in a dvd player it doesn't automatically play the dvd menu or anything until I hit play and when I hit play it plays the first clip.
So two questions:
First how do I make the dvd play the menu when I put it in a dvd player instead of the first video clip?
Second question how do I make the dvd play automatically the dvd menu instead of the first clip when I put it in the dvd player instead of it having me press play for it to start?

Do you by any chance know where that would be located? I think it actually told me that I didn't have anything selected but I don't even know where on the program I go to change it. Do you know which menu item it would be under? I don't have the program with me so I'll have to do it tomorrow but either way thanks I just want to have it done bye tomorrow morning since I'll have to hand it in during the afternoon.
