  • Can't create playlist folders on ipod classic 120gb

    Hi Everyone!
I have an ipod 120gb classic since Jan. and have synced music on it and have it organized with folders and then playlists in them. Now I am trying to add more music and can't create new folders. I highlight my ipod, click on File>New Playlist Folder and it creates one in the itunes playlist area instead. I can click on File>New Playlist and it will create one on the ipod (not in the itunes area like the folder one does.) I can drag playlists from itunes and drop them on the ipod. But when I try to drag an itunes playlist folder with playlists in it, just a playlist is created with the folder's name. On the ipod it will not have the songs in playlists, just in abc order. I honestly don't remember how I did create the folders I do have, but I don't know of any other way than what I'm doing now.
I called Apple support and the guy spent over 30 minutes with me (after I searched high and low through the discussion forum.) He tried on his end and was getting the same results. I even tried reinstalling itunes and did a reinstall of an earlier version of itunes and all that entailed with negative results.
If there's anyone out there than can help me I would greatly appreciate it because I do not like to have my music in lists but organized in folders on my ipod such as Pop, Country, Romantic, etc. I know this ipod can organize into folders since I did it earlier
    Thanks!!

    Hi Everyone!
First thanks to you Jeff for your help also. I have now resynced (is that a word? LOL) my ipod with folders that way I want. From the replies I got I was able to figure out what I was doing wrong which wasn't the way itunes worked and the way I thought it should Part of my problem was that I had too big of a time span between syncings of my ipod, I had changed my itunes playlist, and I must have used my desktop computer to first load some of the songs rather than my laptop. So when the message came up when I had to change my settings I paniced when it said it was going to erase everything. Your comments sure did help jog my memory since I am a fairly new classic ipod owner!
So for those of you who would like your music sorted into folders and then your separate playlists in them, this is what I'm now doing (translation--what I learned to do!) 1. In itunes make your playlist folder, and then copy each of the playlists you want in it. Ex. folder-Christmas; playlists in it--The Chipmunks Christmas, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Eve, etc. Do that for each kind of folder you want. (I ended up with 17 different folders!) 2. Connect your ipod and select to sync selected playlists, not manual. Go to the music tab and check sync music, selected playlists, making sure everything is checked that you want to sync including the folders themselves. 3. Disconnect your ipod when it says its completed. 4. When you want to sync additional music or folders put them in the itunes playlist. connect your ipod, make sure your setting is still on sync selected music. 5. When you click on the music tab make sure everything is checked that you added new and also the music that is already on your ipod. When itunes syncs it, only the new music will be added so the time will be only for the new stuff.
Lesson learned--Keep your itunes playlist area exactly the same as you want it on your ipod and keep the setting at sync selected playlists making sure everything is always checked that should be on the ipod.
Again, thanks for listening and I hope this helps others as well.
    Have a Great Summer!

  • HT1351 Have downloaded one playlist in my ipod classic, works fine, now downloaded another, can't figure out how to access it??into playlist from there goes to On-the-Go. How do I access Playlist 2????

Just got this Ipod classic,  little greek to me,      Have downloaded one playlist,   works fine,   now  tried to download a second , which  I believe it did, out of my Itunes library,  but how is it listed in my Ipod    , scoll down to playlist, then what?    seems to always go to On-the-Go then what ???    Thanks   Dan

When you go into the Playlists menu of your iPod Classic, you should see a list of the Playlists you have downloaded from your iTunes Library - and the On-The-Go Playlist. If you can only see the On-The-Go Playlist, that suggests that you have not successfully downloaded any Playlists.
Playlists are separate from the songs. The songs, albums etc. etc. will be listed under those menu headings on the Main Menu.
The On-The-Go Playlist is a feature that allows you to create Playlists on the iPod. Initially, and after each Sync with iTunes, the On-The-Go should be empty. If you create one, you can save it on the iPod and it will be transferred back to the iPod at Sync time and renamed as On-The-Go X (X is the next available number). If you create and save one on your iPod, it will be named on the iPod as New Playlist X, but renamed as On-The-Go X when Synced with iTunes.

  • New playlists freezing on iPod classic. Old playlists are fine.

I recently invested a lot of time putting together two new playlist for the iPod classic that I use for muzak in my shop.  The music on these playlists is pretty much new to the iPod.  It is mostly from records that I have copied to .mp3.  My iPod is an older 30gb model with fully updated software.  The playlists that I've put together in the past seem to work fine with only an occasional freeze (maybe once a month).  When the iPod freezes I do a reset and all seems fine.  These are long playlists with 24hrs of music minimum and they play for at least 8 hours every day.  The problem is that the new playlists seem to freeze up every ten minutes or so.  I've since given up using them until I figure out what's wrong.  I've made two regular playlists and two smart playlists based on them.  Both types freeze up constantly.
Again, the older playlists seem to work just fine.  By "older" I mean, I put them together a couple of years ago and have been adding music since, with no added problems.  Only the playlists that I've created in the last couple of weeks seem to be having this problem.  There is nothing different about the way I've gone about putting the lists together.  The file formats and bit rates are all the same.  The songs that freeze the new playlists work fine in the old playlists and they play just fine on their own and in iTunes.  For example, just this morning, five songs into starting the "Lounge" playlist the **** thing froze.  The song was something by Bobby Darin.  I reset the iPod and scrolled to that particular song . . . it played just fine.  So, why are my new playlists causing this problem?
I'm hoping someone might have the answer.  I realize that the iPod is quite old and it does get a lot of use so perhaps it's time for a new one . . . but I'd like to keep using it if possible.
If any further information is needed I'd be happy to give it.

Click on the triangle next to the App Store on the menu bar in the iTunes Store. Third item down is iPod Games. That's were you'll find games that will work on your iPod. Nothing in the category list will work on the Classic. iPhone and Touch only.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I print directly onto an inkjet printable CD using a Pixma MX922?

How do I print directly onto an inkjet printable CD using a Pixma MX922?  Does Canon have a template for disc labels?

    Hi KSeghorn,
There is a program that comes with the printer called the My Image Garden program that can assist you with printing onto inkjet printable CDs. To do this, please follow these steps:
    1. Start My Image Garden.
    2. Select the image you want to use for a disc label (CD/DVD/BD).
    3. Click the NEW ART button and select the Disc Label (CD/DVD/BD) option. The Select Theme dialog appears.
    4. Set the Theme, Paper Size and Orientation, then click the OK button. The disc label (CD/DVD/BD) appears in the Create or Open Items edit screen.
Note: The layout may not be as expected depending on the photo information or analysis results of the selected images.
    5. Edit/adjust the items on the label using the buttons at the bottom of the window according to your preference, then press the PRINT button. The Print Settings dialog appears.
Note: In the Advanced Settings dialog displayed by clicking Advanced... at the bottom of the screen, you can set the print area. If Advanced... is not displayed, click the right scroll arrow button to display it.
    6. Set the number of copies to print, the printer and paper to use, etc., then click the PRINT button to print.
For information on loading the printable CDs into the printer, please click here.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do you download music from  Ipod Classic to computer?

How do you download music from ipod classic to computer

If your music collection was purchased from iTunes, you are in a good shape since that music is forever yours under your iTunes account. Therefore, after installing iTunes on your new computer, sign into your account and see all your music under "Purchsed". Then simply download it to be phisically present onto your computer (for free since you've already paid for it).
On the other hand if you happens to not be a sucker to waist money on iTunes and your collection was ripped from the internet (via torrents and such), you need some third party software to copy iPod music, here is a guide about how to transfer music from iPod classic to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

  • How drop-resistant/durable is the iPod Classic?

How durable is the 7th gen Ipod Classic? I recently dropped my Ipod 160 gb classic twice on the same day! Once at Best Buy, it fell out of my pocket while playing Xbox Kinect like two feet onto the carpet, and then agian while getting out of my truck not reliseing my ipod was on my lap, and it fell face planting 5 feet onto the driveway.  I can't tell if there is any problems with it, but it still plays. I was woundering how drop-resistant/durable the Ipod classic, and would it effect the sound quality.

I'v used my iPod (5G... just upgraded to classic) for the past 4-5 yrs working out 5 to 6 times a week. I invested in an armband (with one of those rubber iPod cases) and I have never had to replace it. I have never had issues with the iPod malfunctioning while running or lifting weights. My battery finally died and rather than replacing it I decided to just invest in the latest model. I like the variety.

  • Loading cd collection onto ipod classic 80g

ihave 700cds to load onto ipod classic 80G via itunes but my computer only has room for approx250.Can i delete those 250 from my itunes folder and start again?how do i load them all?

To load them all you would have to buy an external hard drive to move some other things over from your computer or just have the music files on the hard drive. If you can only have 250 of them then here is what to try.
Import the first 250, then have the ipod on manually manage music etc... Drag and drop all the 250 CDs content to the iPod.
After done copying delete the files for the first 250 and then put the next set on and repeat copying them to the ipod, repeat this until all 700 CDs are on iPod.

  • How do I restore playlist folders from iPod classic to iTunes? The library is intact, but the playlists are not and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch!

After reformatting my HD and reimporting all songs back into iTunes succesfully, the playlist folders are gone and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch. How do I restore playlists from iPod classic to iTunes 11.1.3 without resorting to 3rd party options?

I actually tried that in "my computer" by renaming the drive and then got this:
    g-raid (F:) (H:)
then after reading your reply realized I should try renaming it in "disk management" and hey! it worked.
Thanks a lot for the advice.
Now I don't understand why my back-up drive isn't automatically adding the files when I import into the Ex-HD but I'll figuree it out.

You can't create a playlist within the shuffle itself. It has to be created in iTunes first, then synced across.
