How to create process chains, infopackage groups & Meta chains

Hi,
can anyone explain me about process chains,infopackage groups & Meta chains.
if possible give me examples for each.

Metachain
Steps for Metachain :
1. Start ( In this variant set ur schedule times for this metachain )
2.Local Process Chain 1 ( Say its a master data process chain - Get into the start variant of this chain ( Sub chain - like any other chain ) and check the second radio button " Start using metachain or API " )
3.Local Process Chain 2 ( Say its a transaction data process chain do the same as in step 2 )
Steps for Process Chains in BI 7.0 for a Cube.
1. Start
2. Execute Infopackage
3. Delete Indexes for Cube
4.Execute DTP
5. Create Indexes for Cube
For DSO
1. Start
2. Execute Infopackage
3. Execute DTP
5. Activate DSO
For an IO

Data to Cube thru a DSO

2. Execute Infopackage ( loads till psa )

Process variants
The process variant is the name of the process Within the process chain context, it displays the configuration of a process of a particular type set at the time of definition. A variant is only consistently defined together with the process type. A process can have various variants. With the load process for example, the name of the InfoPackage is the name of the process variant.
The user defines the process variant at the time when the process is scheduled. With some process types, the variants are determined internally and are stored as GUIDs.

You can create process chains directly in Production. Most of the times system allows(depends on system settings). But this is not a proper way of working. Create in Development and transport it to Production.

Here is step by step procedure to create process chains
Process chain is nothing but executing a process ..(or) loading the data any process we can do in background.. that means.. automatically we can execute our process based on Time or any event..
Creating Process Chains
Prerequisites
If you want to include a load process in the process chain, you need to have already created an InfoPackage.
You cannot load flat file data from a client workstation in the background. For this reason, you have stored your data on an application server.
Creating Process Chains
You have the option of creating a process chain in the process chain maintenance screen directly or by using a maintenance dialog for a process:
Creating a Process Chain Directly in the Process Chain Maintenance Screen
You are in the BW Administrator Workbench.
1. Click on the Process Chain Maintenance icon in the AWB toolbar.
The Process Chain Selection dialog window appears.
2. Choose Create.
3. Enter the technical name and a description of the chain, and confirm your entry.
The Add Start Process dialog window appears.
4. Create a variant for a start process.
1. a. On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
2. b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.
3. c. Save your entries, return to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog window.
You are taken to the Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen.
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
5. Use the drag-and-drop function to add the relevant processes into your process chain.
You use the Process Types function to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate InfoSources and Data Targets navigation trees.

How to create Process chain for Aggregate for Master data

Hello friends,
I created Aggregates on Navigational Attributes.
Now they are working fine, but i need to know that how shall i create the Roll up for Aggregates on Navigational Attributes.
The point is the master data changes frequently a lot of time for e.g. for 0customer etc.....
So if any one can send me the step by step documents so as to know how to roll up the Aggregates for Navigation attributes or for aggregates created on Master data....
How to create process chains for the same ?????????
Because if master data changes, then rolling up the aggregates straight forward will not help.
So we need to write a process chain so that it deactivates the aggregate and reactivate again and fill up again..........
If i mis interpreted something please rectify it.......

Hello,
the changerun that you have to schedule in order to activate the master data will adjust the aggregates automatically. There is no need to deactivate them after master data loads.

How to check the parent process chain of a meta chain

Hello Friends,
Recently I joined a new project, which is of environment BW 3.0. I am trying to find the dependent process chain's parent, but could'nt able to find them. I went through all the process chains manually to check whther the dependent process chain is mentioned in them, but could'nt find any......
Can any of you help me to know how to find the parent process chain of a meta chain ?

Hi Jessie,
When you process instruction category PROD_3 in master recipe, the process message PI_PROD is created.
After releasing process order, you have to create control recipe. Upon successful creation of control recipe, process instructions will get generated. Check the error log for control recipe creation for error if any.
Note that control recipe will be generated only with order status "Released".
You have to sent this control recipe to process control (CO53).

follow these steps
1.Go to the chain which you want to kill .
2.Go in the log view->top menu bar execution tab.>Remove from schedule.
you are done
Another way (bit complex but will work )
1.Go to the process chain running (which you want to kill) in the log view copy the logid (lef hand side of screen you can get that)
2.Open a new session ,Go to se37 enter function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH -->execute it
3.Now again go Log view of the process chain right click on the start variant>display messages>Chain tab
copy the variant ,instance ,date time etc
4.IN execution screen of RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH enter the variant,instance,data time,logid and Type=TRIGGER
status = R.
Actually you will see something like this in input screen

>TRIGGER for start variant

Meta Chain in a meta chain

Hi Folks,
I have one meta chain which has master data loads local chains and then has an atrib change run and then a Transaction data meta chain in it.
The transaction data meta chain has many local chains. After the first two local chains, theres an AND condition and then the next set of local chains are scheduled.
Problem is that after the AND, the next set of local chains are not triggered. I have included preceeding event based triggers as scheduling paramters.
Why does the next set of local chains stop? Is it normal to have meta chains inside meta chains?? And have u come across a unknown job that gets created named BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER in case of event based triggering??

Hi Prakash,
Meta chain in a Meta chain will work most of the times. Very rarely does it give problems. When ever we have a similar problem as you have described. We go into each meta chain and trigger them manually for that day. Once the chains are all run. We Deschedule the Entire Main chain, check if there are any released jobs for each Meta Chain/process steps, delete these released jobs. Then we activate and schedule the Main chain, this resolves our problem and the chains runs without issues the following days.

Stopping local chain from the meta chain

Hi ,
Can any one let me know is there any option to stop a local chain from the meta chain....
I have a meta chain in which 13 local chains are there.
In those 13 chains i want to stop one particular chain ,but i dont want to delete that local chain from the meta chain.
and below this local chain another dependent chain is also there.
which will start execute after that chain(which i want to delete)irrespective of the status whether the above chain is pass or fail.
can any one help me in this regards

No, you cannot . The best solution I have is to change the local chain to bypass all activity in the local chain. This way the meta chain will run but nothing will happen within the local chain and the meta chain will continue to the next local chain.
Hope this helps.
PS- Another idea, change the meta chain and replace the local chain with an ABAP program which will execute the local chain (use FM RSPC_CHAIN_START). Then you can change the ABAP program to decide whether or not to execute the local chain.

i have a FLATFILE in application server and i need to upload it to STANDARD DSO and i created a INFO PACKAGE and DTP for DSO.
i have a STANDARD INFOCUBE to upload data from above DSO. here DSO is the source. i want to schedule this process in process chain. how could i do this. any one please give me solution.
can any one explain me the options in RSPC and how they work and where we exactly use. this is very helpful to me. please give me guidance. thank you.

First make sure you have already created the infopackage to load the data from server to the DSO and the DTP to load data from DSO to the Cube.
Now goto Tcode RSPC.
Choose Create process Chain option. provide appropriate technical name and description.
Drag "Execute infopackage" process type from left hand side pane in RSPC. Choose the infopackage to load the data from Server to DSO. you can find this infopackage using the F4 help in the above selected process type.
Drag the "data transfer process" process type to load data from the Flat file data source above to the DSO.
Then Drag the "Activate DataStore Request" process type and select the DSO in which you would load the data using the above DTP.
Drag the "data transfer process" process type to load data from DSO to the Cube.
Save, activate and schedule the process chain according to appropriate time.

I want to create process chain for 0EMPLOYEE attribution and text, how to create it and make a schedule for daily loading? Could anyone write steps in my case? Thanks!

Hi,
Follow the following steps:
1. Go to RSPC->create->give name and disc of your chain.
Start Variant Creation
2. Now you will be prompted to give a start variant,create a new variant(click on page icon )
3.Change Selections->date/ time.
4.give date and time for start of the chain.
5.click the check box for periodic job->period values->daily->save->save
Addition of process types
6.Select the process type "Execute Infopackage"
7.select the name of the infopackage which loads attr data to 0EMPLOYEE.
8.Attribute Change run will come automatically( if not then drag it as well and create variant )
9.select the name of the infopackage which loads text data to 0EMPLOYEE.
10.Attribute change run wil again follow.
(connect the process types which are not connected,by right clicking the process types )
                             start
                       IP A     IP T
                      attr          attr
A = attribute
T = Text
