DWSR for more info Check V_T508A table and generate the DWSR through PT01

How to Create Public database link in oracle 9i?

OS: RHEL AS 3
DB: 9iR2
database name 1 = nubul
database name 2 = test
in the 'nubul' database server using system user.
i created a database link to connect the 'test' database
sql> create public database link test using 'test';
database link created.
then i logged in as normal user....
sql> select count(*) from employee@test
Error at line 1:
ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name
where i am making mistake?
i gave the linkname as my remote database name.
am i have to make any entry in the tnsnames.ora?

You have to remember that when you access a dblink, the database where the link is defined is acting as a client to the database to which the link points ... exactly the same as if you you were using sqlplus on the machine hosting the db where the link is defined. In other words, given:
Host 'Host-src', with database 'db-src', with a dblink 'lk_target'
Host 'host-trgt', with database 'db-trgt'
When you connect to db-src and access lk-target, db-src is now acting as a client to db-trgt. Exactly as if you had opened sqlplus on host-src and connected directly to db-trgt. So, given the above scenario
host-src$> sqlplus scott/tiger@db-src
sql> select * from emp@lk_target;when you execute that SELECT to the link, the same tns considerations are in effect as if you had
host-src$> sqlplus scott/tiger@db-trgtThe same tnsnames.ora entry, on the source machine, is required for both.

The answer to this and you other questions about work schedules would be answered if you took the SAP HR306 course. Work schedules, holiday calendars and quotas are all covered in that course. It is necessary if you are to properly set up work schedules for your organization.
Here the "earliest day and month" refer to the earliest the holiday can occur. For Thanksgiving, for example, the earliest it can be celebrated is the first Thursday in November after November 22nd. Another example is Martin Luther King Day which is the first Monday in January after January 15th.
This differs from holidays which are a fixed date each year - July 4th, December 25th, January 1st, etc. These can be "guaranteed" so they can be celebrated on the work day before if they fall on a Saturday or on the work day after if they fall on a Sunday.
Again, all this guidance is available to you in HR306.

Sorting of Public Holidays

Hi,
In the IDES 02(release 4.7), there are filtering options for public holidays along certain criteria like "Public Holiday","Short text", etc. Strangely there seems to be no option to sort public holidays along the criteria "Holiday type" (ex: 'fixed date' holiday or 'movable' holiday).
Is there a way to sort along the "Holiday type" criteria?
One possible way is to sort all holidays(while creating public holidays) by differentiating with a 'sort criterion' (say 1 for fixed date holidays, 2 for movable holidays, etc) as all 'holiday types' have the 'sort criterion' under 'public holiday attributes'.
Is there any other direct way for sorting along 'holiday type' criteria?

As far as i know there is no sort option at Holiday type level.
May be a custom programming should help if you are looking for a report.

Hi,
If you are creating a new holiday and assigning it in the existing holiday calender which is being used in Work Schdule Rule. In such case you need to Change(regenerate) the work schedule. Otherwise, new holiday would not be taken into account.
There is no need to update the monthly average working hours.

Hi Tomesh,
Floating Holidays are created for holidays for which the dates are not decided for the years ahead or dates may changes each year or when a unusual holiday is just introducted for one year.
1.Use transaction SCAL or use the IMG path to the holiday calender.
2.Create a new holiday and select the option " is a movable holiday".
3.Fill in the " public holiday attribute tab" and hit insert date.
4.Fill in the year, month and date for the floating holiday or you could do multiple years at the same time if dates are know and hit create.
5. The new public holiday is created.
6.Assign the new holiday to the holiday calender, while saving you will get a message that " an irregular public holiday is created and being save hit ok. This message will appear in cases when the holiday calender validity and the validity of the floating holiday are matching.
Generate the work schedules and check if th holiday appear in the work schedule.
Award point if useful.

Have a universe over SAP data. Trying to calculate days between 2 dates. SAP holds Public Holiday data in various tables e.g Thol and data is updated via scal. Using my univeres as a source I want to run reports for different countries so need to have various bank holidays not just UK. In SAP function modules handle this. Has anyone designed a solution to cater for this situation in a universe ?

Hi,
I assume you mean SAP R/3 (ECC) when you write SAP and SAP BW.
Are you using BW? If so, I would load the data into SAP BW, create a query using customer exit variables and build your universe on top of that...

How do I remove repeats of public holidays from iCloud calendar

In my iCloud calendar I have several instances of each UK public holiday. I would prefer only one, but how do I remove the extra ones?

I opened the calendar, clicked on the word 'calendars' at the bottom of the page, unchecked 'UK Holidays subscribed' and the event was hidden from the screen.
Unfortunately, so are all UK holidays.... but I can live with that.
As some say, my whole life's a holiday, lol. (Took early retirement last year)
It's still there if I check the line again, pity I just can't remove the event.
