How to create the Report Server tnsnames entry

I'm trying to integrate Oracle Forms with Oracle Reports and the document says that I have to know the tnsnames.ora entry for the report server. In other versions it was created automatically but in 11g there is no configuration. How do I configure this?

In 11g in the opmn.xml the environment variable TNS_ADMIN is set for the reports servers; in addition to the "normal" location under $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin you have to add a tnsnames.ora in $INSTANCE_HOME/config if memory serves (just take a look in the opmn.xml for the exact location)

I do not think that you can get this value from anywhere. A solution is to put the Reports server name in an environment variable stored in the /forms/server/default.env file, then to query it at Forms runtime with the TOOL_ENV.Getvar() built-in.

I need report in the format:

I need conditional formating in percentage column where column cell turns green for > 98% and red for <= 98%.
I used pivot table and used new calculated item to create percent column but I'm not able to do conditional formating there and append % sign.
Is there any other method where I can create logical column in RPD side.

Are you sure you want to create a report for this info?
As CPU and MEM utilization changes every second, what would be the use of a report?
I assume you are aware of the fact that CPU and MEM utilization is included for instance in the Host Homepage and can also be included in Group Pages and Dashboards.

How can I start report server?

Hi all,
Iâm facing a problem in calling reports from forms 10g.
I donât know whether my report server is started or not but then checked by this line of code in a web browser. It give me an error:

Good to see response so quick.
In fact two session were open at the time one is Forum Forms n other Forum reports, by mistake I posted this on forms forum.
Anyway, I solved the problem. The actual problem was I made some changes in <server name>.conf file. I uncommented the engine tags properties. I was having backup of it I copied again. Now itâs working fine.

How to create a virtual directory for the Report Server

Hi, I am new to server admin and need help with configuration.
I would like to map a physical directory on the server so that users can use a virtual path to save report outputs in that location. For example the form will call the report with desname = 'd:\xyz\abc.pdf' and the output file will be saved in a predefined directory on the server. I know how to do it on the forms server using the orion_web.xml but not sure about the report server configuration.
We are using rwservlet to run reports on 10G release2/Windows 2000.

Virtual directories are mapped in the httpd.conf file in the Apache directory as aliases:
Alias /xyz/ "d:\xyz\"
You can now call the report output with
http://server/xyz/abc.pdf

Hi Puneet,
Goto transaction SM62 and in there to BckProcEvents tab. There you can create the events.
You just need to specify the name and Description of an event.

How do I find out what the name of the reports server is?

Hi Everyone,
I am connecting to a remote machine using gotomypc.com and have started up Reports Builder 10g. I know very little about installation of Oracle on this machine. Just enough to log into Oracle 10g and run tools like the Report Builder, TOAD, etc. When I run a report from the Report Builder I get a web browser with a blank report. It works when I run a paper report. I am guessing that the Reports Server is not running or not configured properly.
Can you tell me how to find out what the name of this Reports Server is and/or how to start it up?

I realize this is old, but... You can find out your servers name by looking at the $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\rwservlet.properties file. It has a entry for SERVER. Should also have a corresponding conf file after starting up OC4J and activating the server for developer installs.
Next, you can also run rwdiag. It will show you all report servers available to your installation. This is interesting when Multicast is used by Reports (10g). Ran into issues with servers named the same not on the hardware I was expecting.... ;)

I have installed a new iplanet Directory Server 5.2 on a win2k box, named "vp.com1.com"
When I installed this server, it helped me to create a new Directory server instance with the default realm "dc=com1,dc=com".
I could log on console and found root node, which is "com1.com"
expanded this root node, I got a tree as following:
"com1.com" -> "vp.com1.com" -> "server group" -> "Directory Server(VP)"
Then open "Direbory Server(VP)" -> click tab "Directory"
Got a tree as following:
vp.com1.com(389) --> dc=com1,dc=com
o=NetscapeRoot
Now I wanna create a new entries, which is "dc=com2,dc=com"
How to do?
I had checked almost all the related doc but failed to get the valuable info.
Would you like to do me a favour? Or forward me some reference?
Because I'm a new guy for iplanet Directory Server, would you pls me the help in detail.

Look on page 87 of the Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 Administration Guide. The section "Creating a New Root Suffix Using the Console" should give you step-by-step instructions.

How do I find the report server name, and then run paper report from forms?
I am having a problem running report 9i from forms 9i (see below thread). How do I find out the name of the report server? I checked my C:\ids\reports\conf directory but don't see anything that gives me the name of the reports server. I also don't have a iashome directory.
Also, I just want to run the paper report (not the web version).
