How to create Threads or Tasks in ABAP OO

Hi,
I would like to know if it is possible to run a method of an ABAP class in background. I know that it is possible to run Function modules in background.
Does something similar exists in ABAP OO like Threads in Java or for example .Net?

No, this is not supported in ABAP OO, as you know it is supported by funciton modules. At some point I would think that SAP will bring this functionality to classes, but we will have to wait and see.

hi,
For calender control, there is Date Navigator under "complex tab". You can just click and drag it and provide calender control.
One more easy way is to create a input field. In the context, create a node and attribute of type "D"(which means DATE). And bind the context to your input field under "values" in property window. While running the program, you will see an calender attached to lt on the input field.

The best way I see here is to develop your custom calender in any of the UI technologies supported like Flash (flex) or HTML5 (or maybe even SilverLight? not sure) and embed it in your WD view. You can also handle interactions between the embedded component and the WD controller.

1. Creation of service contract will take place automatically via u201Cfunction moduleu201D. This step will take place if all serial numbers are known in the sales order.
2. When ever a Sales Order is created in Seibel containing a line item of servie contract I need to create a service contract

I searched a Tran -- VA41- create Contarct ( type - WV - Service and maint)

BAPI_CONTRACT_CREATE

Once you create the contract, update the technical objects for the contracts
using two function modules called one after another.

Use
To configure Web service security in SAP NetWeaver usage type AS-ABAP, you have to do the following:
· Configure the RFC destination for the Web service security services
· Configure the logical port for the Web service security services
Configuring the RFC Destination
Perform the following steps to configure the RFC destination for the Web service security services:
1. Use transaction SM59 to create a new RFC destination of type HTTP Connections to Ext. Server.
2. Specify connection type G and enter an arbitrary description.
3. Specify the following technical settings:
¡ Target Host: Host name of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
¡ Service No.: Port number of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
¡ Path Prefix: Path prefix of the Integration Server (AS-Java)
Depending on the logon procedure or security settings you are going to specify in Step 4, you must set the path prefix as follows:
§ If the logon procedure is Basic Authentication and the SSL option is inactive, enter the path prefix /wssproc/plain?style=document.
§ If the logon procedure is Basic Authentication or Send SAP logon ticket, and the SSL option is active, enter the path prefix /wssproc/ssl?style=document.

Hi Carlos,
Go to SE11(ABAP Dictionary).
Select the Data Type radio button.
Specify the name for your structure.
Note structure in customer namespace should start with Z or Y.
Press the create button.
Then in the next dialog box select the structure radio button.
Then you will get in to the structure screen.
Give a meaningful description for your structure.
Add the relevant fields and finally activate.

How to create thread in applet without causing modifyThreadGroup exception?

I've searched through this forum, and it has dozens of posts regarding infamous modifyThreadGroup exception. The two answers I continuously stumble upon are:
1) Change something in permission file. This is unacceptable, because I'm writing an applet, which by definition should be portable.
2) Sign the jar file. This is still unacceptable, because a) I do not know how to do this yet b) from what I've seen, process of signing is quite complicated c) I'm still in the development stage, using NetBeans 4.0, so I can't use jar's d) I just need to instantiate a freakin' thread, that's all.
Now, instead of searching for quick fix, I want to ask couple of meaningful questions.
1) Why some security managers do not allow me to instantiate new threads in applet? Why other security managers do? (Write once, run everywhere. Yeah, right.)
2)How can I create thread in applet, maintaining applet's portability?
PS: Sorry for the attitude. The case is, such things in Java irritate me greatly.

The problem is not with the content of the thread (for there is no content yet), but with the fact that tread created at all. Here is the code that generate named exception:

I m using LV 8.2 or 8.5 and NI-VISA 4.1.
Several serial ports are emulated on my PC with USB-Serial cables. Then boxes which will be under tested are connected to those serial ports.
The first thing which must be done is to send a command when they are switched on at the same time. Therefore, I use multi-thread application with reentrant VIs. But we don't know how many serial ports are emulated and we don't want to limit the number of serial ports.
Have you got any idea about how to dynamically create thread and get thread ID (one thread by serial port) ?

But if I use a VI template, I guest I need a For loop to start each instance. No delay should be introduced.
In attached llb, maximum number of serial ports is 4. But I want any number limitation.

How to create Inbound Idocs in a ABAP program? Any function Module?

Hello Experts,
My requirement is : I have sales order data which I extracted from third party system in my internal tables. In the same box I need to create inbound Idocs and then consequently create sales orders.
I have used the function module IDOC_INBOUND_WRITE_TO_DB to create inbound Idocs from Sales Orders data in internal tables. I have populated all the data records with correct PSGNUM and HLEVEL values. My plan is to create inbound idocs with this function module and send those to IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS function module which creates Sales Orders.
If a sales order in the internal table in ABAP program contains only one item, then I am getting correct idocs. But if more than one item exists for a sales order then the line item segments which got repeated in Idoc are having PSGNUM and HLEVEL values as zero when I checked in WE02. As a result the hierarchy from the second item segment is getting disturbed and getting the status 60.
I populated T_EDIDD with data records from IDOC_INBOUND_WRITE_TO_DB.
To the function module IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS, T_EDIDC and T_EDIDD are the input. I observed that in T_EDIDD also the PSGNUM and HLEVEL values are blank.
I am getting Status 60 with message 'EDI: Syntax error in IDoc (segment cannot be identified)' for idocs which have more than one item.
I need to extract sales data from third party and create inbound idocs and create sales orders in one ABAP program only. I need to display corresponding Idoc numbers for the corresponding third party sales order number in a listoutput.
Can anybody please provide inputs?

I am not clear about your queestion.
if u r doing an ALV report if u give selection screen inputs if press execute buttom or F8 u wil get the report.
if u want the out put in the next screen. you can develop the screen in the module pool
