How to create transparency gradient

Hi
please share how to create transparency gradient
have attached the example

qanibh,
In the newest version(s), you may specify opacity values for the Gradient Fill.
In older versions,, you may:
1) Create the shape with the solid end colour upon the seethrough background;
2) Copy to the front, apply a gradient to the copy, and in the Transparency palette/panel flyout Make Opacity Mask, setting Clip and Invert as wished.

    i'm not sure, but you can set the alpha value to 0 in all pixels which are 'in' the background..

  • How to create a gradient field in CS5 that doesn't striate when printed?

    Can someone explain how to create a large gradient field in CS5 that won't striate when printed? I created a poster, 18" x 24" in which the bottom third gradates from olive to black. When it prints there are thick paralell bands which are  undesirable. The tips I found online go back to 2009 which don't apply to CS5. The directions in the CS5 manual are confusing to me. Is there a simple way to do this?

    Is your monitor well calibrated?
    Did you print it locally on your own printer before sending it out?
    After you've exhausted everything else, you might consider creating a small test file with the offending gradient, and physically carry it to one of the printing locations, and speak to a technician there. Honestly, it sounds like a profile mismatch, but if this has happened at multiple Kinkos locations, then I agree, it would seem the problem is most likely in the file.
    Have you looked at individual channels? (R,G,B)
    One other idea: you say it's olive to black ... you could try an olive gradient from 100% opacity to 0% opacity, placed over a solid black layer, (or alteratively, a similar black gradient over solid olive) and see if that improves the output. Beware, some printers are really bad at 0%-5% values. If the gradient is going from 100% of one color to 0%, this might be contributing to the problem. Try going from 100% to 5% if this is the case.
    One last thing: can you post a portion of the offending area of the image here?

  • How to create a gradient - Video

    I was asked on the day I downloaded FCPX how to create a Graduated sky! Well as I had only just got it I had no idea.. so having promptly forgot the users name I thought Id stick the video here if anyone is interested.. probably most of you know how to do it anyway?!!
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRPHxLlLN3c

    Here is what I have figured out.
    If you click each color/opacity swatch slider in the gradient box in Motion you can publish the respective color, location, and opacity controls for that transition point in the gradient. This will allow you to change the colors for those points from within FCPX and adjust the location of the transition between zones.
    I'm just making up the terminology above.. hopefully it is clear.
    It doesn't seem like you add new points to the gradient from within FCPX at this time. If someone figures it out, please share!

  • How to create square gradient?

    Hi there
    I'd like to ask how to create a square gradient in Photoshop such as this one :
    I'd like the white to radiate from a square shape, just as in the example image I have there, and not like Photoshop readily offers from a curcle within a square, i.e. the radial gradient, as PS calls it.
    Cheers!

    I am a big fan of the Vignette tool in Camera RAW.  It produces amazingly soft gradients that are hard to duplicate.
    So if you have CC, fill a layer with white, convert to a Smart Object, and use the Camera RAW filter.  Go to the fx tab, and in the Post crop vignette set the Amount and Roundness slider all the way to the left, and adjust the Feather slider to suite.  OK that, and se the layer blend mode to Multiply.
    Duplicate the layer to increase density, or lower opacity to reduce it.

  • How to create curved gradient?

    hi all,
    i use photoshop CS2. i would like to know how to create a curved gradient or fill gradient in a curved shape. the gradient should take the shape of the curved geometry.
    kindly reply asap,
    regards,

    You could use the Radial Gradient Tool on a selection of the area you want to apply the gradient to, you can click the gradient in the toolbar to edit.
    Depending on the shape of the curve you may have to create it on a seperate layer then Edit > Transform > Distort.
    By working within a selection (marching ants) you can control where the gradient is applied and by trasforming it you can alter the shape once applied.
    There will as always in Photoshop be other ways, maybe using the Liquify filter to distort the shape for example?
    regards

  • How to create a gradient transparency?

    I am using Photoshop Elements 8.  This might have a really simple answer, but I can't figure it out.  I am trying to take a layer, and simply make it go from solid picture to a gradient transparency, so that it gradually disappears.  It is hard to explain, but I hope you understand.  Please let me know if you know how to do that.  Thanks a bunch.

    It would look kind of like this:
    IIIIIIIIII IIII  II  I  I    I       I
    IIIIIIIIII IIII  II  I  I    I       I
    IIIIIIIIII IIII  II  I  I    I       I
    ^                                      ^
    Solid                             Picture
    Part of                         Gradually
    Picture                        Disappears
    If that makes sense.

    TitanVex,

    Open picture
    Duplicate background layer, work on background copy layer
    Access the gradient tool (G), and in the tool's option bar select the foreground-to-transparent, linear gradient. Be sure that the color chips (lower left) are set to black for foreground and white for background. See my screen shot above. Note transparency is checked.
    I drew the gradient from right to left, about 3/4 way.
    If the gradient is too profound, you can reduce the opacity of the background copy layer.
    If you need to start over again during practice, delete the background copy layer and go back to step #2.

  • How to create transparent text on a solid color background?

    I want to create a transparent text on a solid color backround, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the backround layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/transparent-text-area/. Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the backround color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7. Thanks.

    Thank you all for the suggestions, especially 99jon. 99jon's walktrhough is helpful, but I was hoping to find a workaround that would allow keeping transparent text that goes all the way through all other layers to transparent background as a text level, but once I flatten the image, I'd lose the text layer, so I cannot make any changes to it (like slightly change the font, size, style, face, etc). Let me clarify a bit what I'm trying to do to see if there is an even better option.
    Say, I need to have a 300x300 pixel image that (forget about photos) consists of a solid-color circle (circle can be white, black, red, blue, or any solid color, or gradient, does not matter) on a transparent background, and inside of this circle I'd like to cut out a word (say, the word "TEST" with no bevels or other decoration, just flat font) all the way to the transparent background. I just need a circle with text cut out and showing around the circle and through the word "TEST". So if a circle is white and I place the image on a blue background, the word "TEST" would be in blue (so would be the area around the circle).
    Is there a way to set it up to allow changing the color of the circle (say, from white to black, or blue, or red) and keep smooth edges of the text (and circle) blending with the background (i.e. avoid jagged edges) without redoing every color variation from scratch? Like, getting some master file which would define size and position of the elements,a s well as font, etc, and from this master file, use simple adjustments to change the color.
    Ideally (in my dream world), there would be an option for the text element to be of transparent color that would go through all layers below it. But there must be a not too complex way to do this, right?

  • How to create multiple gradients in a compound path?

    Hi, I am trying to color a compound path with multiple colors? Kinda similar to the effect here
    I tried using the blend tool and replace the spline but it does not give the desired effect.
    Any tips as to how to approach this?
    I have made the G by creating a compound path.
    Thank you!

    namk,
    You may:
    1) Create a simple stroke/nofill path, with a stroke at least as wide as the semicircular end parts, which follows and fully covers the G shape of the compound path;
    2) Ctrl/Cmd+X+B to bring it to the back, then give it the desired gradient along the stroke/path;
    3) Select all and Object>Clipping Mask>Make.
    If you wish to get the stroke back on top, you may:
    4) Click the compund path with the Direct Selection Tool and reapply its stroke with the original weight.

  • How to create transparency between objects

    Hi, I'm hoping you cam assist with something that is troubling me.
    I have a circle with split into 5 segments (image A).
    All of the segments have a stroke (1px) of white, and a fill.
    What I want is for the STROKE to be transparent so that when I position the 5 segments over a different background colour (image B) I see the colour underneath where the white stroke would otherwise appear. To recap - I would like to retain the width of the stroke, and make the stroke coloue transparent..
    I've tried the Opacity setting, but this applies to the object, not just the stroke.
    Your help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks. I'm on CS5

    Ah, I see how you drew it.
    I would make a copy of your design. Remove the stroke. Draw a straight line the size of the gap you want. You'll loose the color difference (the blue) but I would make a compund path of the shutters. Position a copy of the line over a joint. Use the pathfinder to slice a piece between two of the shutters. Make another line copy, position, rinse and repeat.
    While my copy of your design began as a trace, you are welcome to it if it helps.

  • How to create transparent background video?

    I'm trying to add some filters to some some imported text files from Photoshop, but they don't work so well so I need to import them as transparent video files. So, how do I export the text as a ProRes file from FCP with a transparent background so I can re-import it and add the video filters?
    I've tried fiddling around with the alpha channels but the background always seems to be black.

    You don't export the files as a ProRes clip.
    Place your text on a transparent background and export from PS as .tiff or .png stills. They will composite automatically. You can set the default length required in FCP's User Preferences...
    You must do this before you import the files.

  • How to create a gradient with a square fill (pyramid gradient)

    I'm looking for the best way to this:
    http://www.filterforge.com/wiki/index.php/Square_Gradient
    Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

    Thank you for the replies. I did do this, saved as a PDF and checked the file Acrobat. Acrobat seems to only recognize full percentage screens? The transition of the gradient screen went from 9 down to 1, except it only showed whole numbers. It looked fine on screen. Then, I placed the file in InDesign so we could step it properly for the presses. After this, I exported the file as a PDF. Now, the screen transition in Acrobat read as 9,8,9,8,7,8,7,6...and so on. I assume this has to do with the blending, but the straight save as a PDF from Illustrator didn't have the differing sequences for screen gradients. Both looked fine on screen and appeared to have a visually smooth transition; however, when we output the film, the transition on the negative didn't look smooth whatsoever. A press test confirmed this. Now, I may just step the file in Illustrator and hope this makes a difference.
    Are there any suggestions how to make the transition smoother? Should I apply more steps? I used 50.
    Again, to sum up: On screen the gradient trasition looks smooth, but on the negative and on print, it looks bad. Also, why does Acrobat using the object inspector screen only show whole number screen percentages? We work with gradient screents constantly and never had I had a square gradient like this. I hope it's not something more technical with the RIP software and line screens.
    Thanks again.

  • How to create a Gradient color with the same gradient in vertical direction

    To fill a rectangle, for example, let's illustrate as following
    111111111
    222222222
    333333333
    444444444

    222222222
    111111111
    where 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 denotes a color value.
    The following codes does not works.
    g2.setPaint(new GradientPaint(0, 0, new Color(133, 136, 189, 234), w, h,
                                      new Color(133, 136, 189, 6), true));Thank you in advance.

    Create two GradientPaint objects
            GradientPaint pnt1 = new GradientPaint(x,y,new Color(133, 136, 189, 234),x, y+rectHeight/2,new Color(133, 136, 189, 6));

            g2.setPaint(pnt1);
            g2.fill(new Rectangle(x, y, rectWidth, rectHeight/2));
            g2.setPaint(pnt2);

    Floating point math. Open your project properties (CMD+J) and change the bit depth to 16 or 32 bit float. It'll cause a tremendous slowdown of playback, but presumably you should just be able to leave it off until you're ready to export.
    Also, use the best compression you can afford to. Uncompressed, Animation (maybe), or even a TIFF sequence. The less you're compressing the file, the better it'll look.

  • Creating a Gradient Shape

    Some time back I asked how to create a gradient shape in FCPx.  I appreciated the answers, but none of them were clear to me, and I have not yet been able to pull it off.  Wondering if anyone is interested in making a short tutorial showing how to do this?  I am simply after a rectangle that has a linear or radial shape using color point values on the gradient as required, preferably values that can be eye-dropped from elsewhere on the screen.
    Thanks!
    Geoff

    Probably the most general way to do this would be to create a generator in Motion, but...
    Here is a way you can do that, using only content already available in FCP X.
    In this, I will use the "Shape" and "Gradient" generators.
    1) Place the Gradient in the timeline and adjust as desired.
    2) Place the Shape generator ABOVE the gradient. Set the fill to white and turn off the Outline in the generator part of the inspector.
    3) Click the video tab of the inspector and under Compositing set the Blend Mode to "Stencil Luma"
    4) By now you will have the shape filled with the gradient and the rest of the frame black.
    5) Select the shape and the gradient and hit option-G to turn this into a compound clip. This will confine the blend mode set above so that it does not affect any clips that lie below the shape and gradient, maling them visible behind the shape.
