How to create Universe on BEx Queries

Hi,
I am very new to create Universe based on SAP BW Infocubes or BEx queries. I actually need to create reports based on BEx queries. I am able to log into SPA BW using Universe connection and I see only Infocubes. Where can I find BEx queries. Is there any specific document that helps here.
Please help me.

Hi,
You can select the queries which are part of the cubes. And make sure that the query is part of the cube.
If still not listing then from Bex Query designer open the query from the cube and enable 'set to allow external access' in the properties of a query.
Now, the query should be available in the Universe Designer.

Hi,
directly you can't create hierarchy at bex level.
First you have to maintain hierarchy data source at source or bw side, based on your needs.
Later you can load data to hierarchy, after that at bex level you can activate hierarchy options to related info object properties.
To maintain hierarchy we need to enable hierarchy options at related info object(RSD1, hierarchy tab, select with hierarchies) maintenance level.
For example: info object - 0GL_ACCOUNT and you need hierarchy structure on gl account.
For that we need to have hierarchy data source and will load data from ecc.
Later we can develop reports on gl account in hierarchy fashion.
On what object infoo bject you want create hierarchy report and have loaded hierarchy data?

How do i access multiple bex queries in one crystal reports??

Hello Experts,
I have 10 cubes and 30 bex queries on it and i need to create 3 final crystal reports on these 30 queries.
I am on BI 4.0 & CR 2011. but my client is not on correct SAP patch ie., he is on 15+ but he must be on 23+ to access multiple bex queries on CR 2011 Database expert. (I am unable to see bex queries in Database expert to link couple of bex queries)
And my client env doesnt have SAP EP for SAP BW Netweaver Connection to create a connection to access cubes or queries in IDT.
Do my client env need EP? so that SAP BICS Connection will work in IDT?
How do i approach to achive this...

Hi,
have you checked the option "allow external access" in your query? SAP Toolbar will find all queries but the database export needs this flag to be set.
Using multiple queries within one crystal report is using the "multi database join feature" of crystal reports. You can link your queries by key fields and crystal will join them in memory. So when there are many queries or many datarows this can be a huge performance killer.
Actuallly one of our customers is running a report which has more than 20 BEx queries linked together. It runs just fine.
Please be sure to set your joins correctly. E.g. crystal will try to make a join on the "key figures" sturcture if you let it create a suggestion or it will try to link on all fields of an infoobject. This will bring MDX errors.
So you should be setting your joins correctly - the [infoobject]-[20infoobject] fields are fine for that.

Cnnection error while creating universe on Bex Query in BW

Hi
I am getting connection error while connecting to BW Bex query.
The error i am getting while creating universe is A runtime exception has occured Error getting levels for hierarchy dimension .....:Unknown error.
After this
Also while creating universe no key figures/measures are getting generated from Bex query to designer.
Also in Bex query which are created as mandatory variables comes as Prompts in webi.
But when I try to parse in Condition filter it is throwing error.
Currently that mandatory variable is From Date and To Date
Is we require to change the prompt syntax in Condition filter.
Also kindly suggest solution for Connection error as impemtation is getting affected.

R u saying allow external acces in BEX query.This option in Bex Query designer.
Or In whether while creating universes under properties tab there is use of OLAP universes option has to be made to Yes.
This both things we have tried

Hi James,
You can create variables in the BEx Query by right clicking on your characteristic and then selecting Restrict. A pop up window will appear. On the left side of the pop-up window, right click on a white space and then select New Variable. The Variable Wizard will then appear - you can now create your variable acording to your specifications. For more info on variables, please click on the link below:

BOXI3.0: How to create Universe with a large system

Hello there.
If you guys have experiences to develop Universe with a large system, please share it with me on how you start to create the universe and the development phase.
I mean how you guys seperate it example by phase, and put it together until finish.
I am new with Universe Designer and I have this one large in house system and need to create universe so that users can access the data.

I need your expertise.
I have many tables in the universe. Some of the tables have 1-CREATEDBY_T and 2-MODIFYBY_T fields.
these 2 fields must be linked to one table called Employee table to EMPID_T field.
CREATEDBY_T, MODIFYBY_T and EMPID_T have the same data. Example "006862".
After I linked 1 and 2 fields to EMPID_T.
Then at Inforview, I selected NAME_T from Employee table together with CREATEDBY_T, MODIFYBY_T from other tables but the result in inforview is no good.
NAME_T field cannot go in together with CREATEDBY_T, MODIFYBY_T.
Hope you guys can understand the issue here.

How do I delete old Bex queries not used within 13 months?

Hello all,
I have a large number of Bex queries that are no longer used (3000 - three thousand). I'd like to delete any query that has not been used in 13 months.
Can someone provide some guidance?
Also, is there anyway to archive old reports?

The RSZCOMPDIR table contains this information - thank you.
The only remaining challenges are:
1) how do I interpret or convert the values in the LASTUSED field? The numbers are of the magnitude of 20,060,601,210,130.
2) Once I determine which queries were not used within the last 13 months, how do I delete them? Is it as simple as writing a SQL statement against this table?

How to create Universal Mobile App in XCode 4.6.2?

I am new to Xcode, when I create Universal Mobile App project creating with out IPhone & IPad Folder and it's related files in XCode 4.6.2Version.
Even I created IPhone folder and created the Application Under IOS->UserInterface it's only creating .xib file it's not creating it's related .h and .m files.
Can you tell me how can I create the Universal Project. or If I want to add .h & .m files how can I add?
I don't want to Upgrade XCode version. I want create XCode 4.6.2 Only.

How to move / hide obsolete BEx queries

Hi,
We have a lot of obsolete BEx queries on our BW system. We don't want to delete them, but we want them to be hidden from the users.
I thought that we could move them to a special InfoArea...
Is that a practicable way or is there a better solution?

Doing it from BEx query Designer is time consuming. You can use RSZCOPY T-code to to rename and then RSZDELETE To delete all the queries you want.
For RSZDELETE you can give wild card selection for deletion.
Just checked in the system. T-Code for copy is RSZC and you can do mass copying.
trick: Select your Source and Target Info-Provider , give the same input in both the fields.

Hi,
In a SAP-BW and BO environment using Business Object Universe generator, it appears that BO requires direct data base connectivity to read data from BW.
In XI/XI R2 , it use an RFC connection (MDX driver, which makes BAPI, SAP API calls) to SAP BW to obtain the details of the BW Query or Info Cube for building the Universe using the XI/XIR2 Business Objects designer application. The request for the query or cube details is done VIA BAPI function calls. For the SAP BW Query we must have allow External Access to this query checked under the Query Property window.
Our Integrated Solution Kits do not access the SAP BWs data source.

How to create suitable aggregates for queries on multiprovider ?

hi all,
goal reduce db time of query and improve performance
i have queries on a multicube. I have 5 cubes under the multiprovider. I having performance issue with one of the cubes. it had
high slection/transfer ratio. The same cube had high 94% DB TIme. All the BW and DB indexes and stats are green. I chose
the path of aggregates. when i tried suggest from proposal it is giving me query time and date range and i gave last
3 days and query time 150 sec. it is suggesting huge number of aggregates like 150 of them and not getting reduced much
when i tried optimize funcitonality.
The faulty cube had nearly 9 million records and 4 years of data
1. generally how many aggregates do we need to create on a cube?
2. how do i use propose from last navigation? it is not creating any aggregates
3. is there a way for system to propose less number of aggregates?
4. if nothing works i want to cut the volume of the aggregates base on years or quarters. how do i do that?
i created with time charactersitic 0calquarter and dragged in ocal day and 0calmonth. activated and filled in ..but
query is not hitting it when i do a monthly selection. i tried bringing in all the other dimensions...except line item
dimenisons....no use ...it is not hitting the manual aggregates in RSRT.the slection on 0calquarter is * .
5. should i change it to fixed value and bring in the line items too and create it?
6. I wanted to try propose aggregate from query option..but my query is on multiprovider...and not able to copy it to cube..
plz help me how to find the suitable aggregates for query on multiprovider
7. should i create any new indexes on the cube using the chractrestics in the where condiotion of select statment...but in

In any of the menus of screen for creating aggregates you have an option for sytem propose aggregates for one specific queries i am not sure it worked with multicubes.

You should delete 0calday from aggregates in order to accumulate data for any greater time unit. Other solution for times is to study try to do a partition in cube.

is not recomendable create new indexes in multidemensional structures. Try avoid selections for navigational attributes, if necesary add navigate attributte as dimension attributes, put filters in filter section in BEX.

How to create variable in BEx on a Nav Attribute?

Hi All,
We are creating a report on Master data object 0MILESTONE. 0PROJECT is the navigational attribute of 0milestone.
and ZSTATUS is the navigational attribute of 0PROJECT.
Requirement is to create variable on ZSTATUS in BEx. How do I do that? I dont see option of creating variable on Nav attribute of a Nav attribute.

Hi,
There is nothing as such creating variable for navigation attribute. You can only create variable directly on particular infoobject.
In your case you are using transitivie attributes. So they can not be accesed directly in BEX query. You can only use 1st level nagivation attributes in bex query.

How to create universe folder in BO XI via SDK

I'm just starting to use the BOXI SDK. I've used the sample to create new folders, it worked perfectly.
But now I would like to create new universe folders but I have no idea how to do it. Here is the sample to create a folder :

I wouldn't expect the code to be any different for universe folders, you just need to find the id for the top level folder for the universes. It might be easiest to add a folder there manually and check its properties.
