How to crop out wordings on a video

I've been cracking my head for several days now and I can't seem to find a solution. Hope someone over here can help me out! I've got a video and there are some sensitive information like user ID and all that jazz on it. Problem is, how do I sort of crop them out of the video? And also apply it to all the frames in the video. It's just a small part of it on the top right hand corner of the video. The video is actually a screen recorded video. Any form of help is greatly appreciated!
PS I'm still finding my way around PS.

Hi Melissa.  I don't normally use Photoshop for video, but this should work.
Open Photoshop, and create a small image that will cover the text.  Make it look like a logo, or solid black, or anything you like. Save it as a JPG and remember the location.
Open the video in Photoshop
At the left of the video layer, (in the timeline) click on the drop down-down, and choose 'New Video Group'.
Select the new video layer, click in the drop-down, and choose 'Add Media'.   Locate your JPG and OK it.
Select Move, and move it to cover the text.
Hover over the end of the JPG layer, and drag out to the full length of the original video.

  • How to Crop out Certain Part of Photo

Hi, am brand new to Photoshop, and I have the following image:
I just want to crop the image so that only the racoon is left. I have a bunch of photos like this where I need to do the same. What is the best way to go about doing this?

Learned how to do this through this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tooPl55dcFg . Great video!

  • FCPX Crops out the edges of video when exported!!

In the program it looks perfect, but the exported files always have a significant portion of the edges chopped off...
I have tried exporting under various settings and the same problem arises.
Why does it do this? How can I fix it?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is a screenshot of the original footage:
The exported file is just cropped, and I'd like to have the items near the edge in view...
The project is 720p HD (1280x720) 30p, around 13 minutes long...
I am exporting by going under File, Share, using these properties in the export window:
I also tried with H.264 Faster Encode but that did not change anything crop-wise.
I don't get it. I have exported other videos without this problem under the same settings, I believe.
    Thanks.

  • How do I crop out widescreen bars for xport to web?

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you knew how to crop out the black widescreen bars so that if you were watching a movie on a website, (such as how mac does it on its movie trailers site) How do you make it 480 x 260 with no bars instead of having it be 720 x 480 with bars. Basically how do I get rid of the bars. Can you do that in compressor, or FCP or Quicktime.
    Thanks!

In the Geometry tab of the Inspector (with your Target loaded), use the Dimensions section to adjust the output screen size. You can use the list in the pop-up menu or you can select custom and input the values in the height and width fields.

  • Does anyone know how to crop a picture without leaving room?

Is it possible to crop out edges of your video in order fix the composition of your shot?
I do this with photo software, but can't figure it out with Final Cut Pro, nor can I even be sure that's it's possible to begin with.
I can cut the picture, but it leaves the black area in the frame afterwards... I basically want to crop it by zooming in a bit....
Hope this isn't a stupid question!

    Hi,
Select the canvas in FCP and you clip in the timeline>press the key W and the image+wireframe (crossed white lines) will appear in the canvas. Now drag outwards (inwards if needed) the corners of the wireframe and resize your frame in the canvas (Press W twice when you are done to go back to image with no wireframe).
Also in the manual read about Motion Tab.

  • How to crop video AND fill frame?

I have some old movies that I had converted to miniDV. Unfortunately the person who did it didn't zoom in enough on the projected image so the movie image doesn't quite fill the frame of the video.
I'm editing these, and when I'm in FCE I've used the crop tool to crop out the non-image areas on the top and right side. But when I view them, the video frame is still the same size and it shows black bars on the top and right sides where I cropped it, kind of defeating the crop process.
Is there a way to crop out the stuff I don't want and then have the resulting video fill the entire video frame? It's OK if the resulting video has a smaller pixel dimension.

Thanks Mitchell, that was helpful. I first tried your method which worked, and then used a shortcut which was a bit more intuitive.
Once I enabled showing the wireframe, I was able to click on the lower left corner and re-size by dragging it down. The I clicked on the center of the image and dragged it so the image fit properly in the frame. Easy - once you know how.

  • How to crop a video clip for subsequent animation

I have several video clips that I'd like to crop (either with Motion or FCE 3.5) and then animate using Motion, but I'm not sure how to approach the problem.
Specifically, the clips in question are interviews, and my intent is to crop out extra background from them, then have them rotate into view one by one, along with animated pull-quote text, to produce a flowing narrative.  I don't want the full-sized clips to be animated--just the relevant head-centered portions.
I'm a quick learner, so I don't necessarily need a step-by-step solution, but any tips to get me started would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

There are several ways you could do this
-Crop the media (Set the cropping for the source clip, available in the media tab and Inspector.)
-Crop the layer (crop each instance of the clip in the project. Found in the layer properties).
    -Apply a layer mask
    -Apply a matte layer.
If you only need to set the cropping once, I'd recommend the first option.  When you crop the media the center point is always maintained based on the cropping. If you crop using any of the other methods you may have to adjust the anchor point (center) of the layer.

  • How to avoid the canvas showing after crop/how to cut out background&side objects

    Hi
Thanks in advance for any help!!!
I've tried in vain for hours to work this out....I am shooting against a white background and I need to chop off the lights/other objects in the shot at the side of the video- how is this best achieved?!
I've trimmed the video but then I'm left with a white or black canvas at the sides....and I can't work out to make the video fill the frame once I've trimmed!
I'm using the white screen to avoid having the key all the videos (just bought the white screen after the green sreen had too many issues with staying inside the greenscreen and having to be so far forward to light the green screen enough - I'm shooting large products!)
I'm new to FCP (I've got FCP X 10) so sorry if this is an obvious answer but I'm banging my head against the wall on this one!
screenshots attached of what I'm talking about!
even giving me the correct terms to google would really be appreciated!! ive tried everything i can think of!
    Thanks

You have to fill it with something. How good are in Photoshop? Take a frame and airbrush and clone the "white" into the surrounding area. Place the Photoshop image on a layer underneath the crop video. Rather than crop it using the mask effect and feather it so it will blend better with the underlying graphic.

  • How can I determine the type of video out connector I need?

    Howdy,
I have a white macbook purchased Jun/2008. I want to connect to a TV but don't know what adapter I need. How can I determine the type of video out jack my macbook has?
System Profiler says the model identifier is "MacBook 4,1". Under Graphics/Displays the only thing it says about the "Display Connector" is that no display is connected. Too bad it doesn't tell me what type of connector it is. If I knew the name of the connector I'd probably be home free. But it seems like every macbook model has a different video connector (since the state of the art has advanced over the years) and I haven't been able to keep up with the names.
Now, I have a 6" long adapter that will convert this connector to VGA. And searching the Apple store for VGA adapters, the existence of mine says my connector is might be one of "Mini DisplayPort", "Apple Mini DVI", "Apple DVI", or "Apple Micro-DVI". But then there is also the connector at
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8639G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and that looks like the one I have. But unlike the other adapters, this one is just called a "VGA Display Adapter". Does the connector have a name? How can I find adapters that have that same connector?
I know I could use the adapter I have, plus a VGA to VGA cable, to hook up to a TV. But the quality of the VGA signal is poor in the digital world. My goal is to hook up to the TV via HDMI. Is this even possible? By which I mean, will my macbook generate the signals necessary to be able to be converted to HDMI?
    Thanks for any help,
    Zebulon T

    Thanks, Ded,
You're right, the cable that I have won't work. I't from my previous, 2004 iBook. This is pretty embarrassing... I looked at the cable but didn't bother to try plugging it in.
Looking at the close-up picture of the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, that does look like the right connector. So I have Mini-DVI, and the other apter you pointed to can convert this to DVI. I'll take a look to see what makes the most sense, connector wise, downstream from that.
    Thanks very much.

How can i find out the size of video on my iphone 5?

As far as I've known, all iPhones (3G/3GS/4/4S/5) sold in China (probably only in China) have this low battery alert sound.
    So called "localization" or what...
Actually many people found it annoying coz it plays even when the phone is switched to SILENT. However no solution has been found so far
PS: reeeeeeeally hope Apple could see this thread and at least give Chinese users an option to switch it off!!

  • How can I make the stage height shorter by "cropping out" the bottom portion of the stage?

Right now my stage dimensions are 980 X 800 px.  I need to cut or "crop out" the bottom portion of the footer because its height is too long.  So I changed the stage dimensions to 980 X 600 px (and changed the corresponding dimensions in the embed tag in the index.html file to match).  Doing this seems to cut out the bottom but at the same time adds space to the top and seems to distort the overall spacing.  Is there a simple way to crop out the bottom of the stage (just like cropping out a section of a photo)?

Forgetting about the html file and embed tag for now, I can't seem to get the .swf proportioned properly in the first place.  I just want the bottom portion of the stage cropped out.  How do I do that without distorting the spacing?  When I tried to reduce the stage height, it doesn't simply crop out the bottom - it reduces the stage's height but it also seems to add space to the top and "squeezes" lines together, distorting the vertical spacing.
Is there a way to simply crop out the bottom, just like cropping an image?

  • How do i crop "out" a piece of image=ex: how it will look when its cut for a window. Crop a white space in image?

How do i crop "out" a piece of image=ex: how it will look when its cut for a window. Crop a white space in image?

I think this will help if you are using version 11 or 12.
Make a selection with a selection tool of the area you want to remove.
Example: rectangular marquee tool - make a rectangle.
    Use Select>Refine Edge:
Use the View section of this dialog box to see a few views.
If you need to refine the edge of the selection (smooth, feather, shift, etc.) you can do that in this dialog box.
You may want to check the box about remembering your settings in case you need to come back to them.
In the Output section, you can pick New Layer with Layer Mask and click OK.
You should see the hole in your image.

Christine- thank you very much for the link and as I have been searching for an answer I have read a lot about motion and I know I am going to sound completely dumb saying this but...what exactly is motion?
Michael- I am trying to create stimuli for an experiment and well the control condition is a video recording of a man from the neck up speaking in front of a blue background and for the control we want to "white out" all of the facial features except for the mouth so that all you see is the blue background, an outline of the head that is all white except for the mouth.
This is my first research project and I am really hoping to do well and truly appreciate the help.
