How to customize Auto-trace selection over multiple frames?

Hi all,
I'm working on an After Effects CS5 project that involves a lot of compositing and my material is all in high-contrast black and white. I'm looking for a way to mask individual parts of a particular clip: e.g. I have a 10 second clip with two people standing in it, one on the right and one on the left. I'd like to isolate the person on the right and hide everything else, including the background and person on the left.
I used Auto-trace to quickly find the outlines of my image and it works great since my picture is such high-contrast. Only thing is, I'm not sure how to remove the person on the left from the auto-trace selection.
I have "work area" selected in my Auto-trace options, which is amazing as it makes the Auto-trace selection span over my entire 10 second clip (as opposed to me needing to apply it frame-by-frame), but now the problem lies in removing person on the left from the entire 10 second clip. I went to the beginning of the new layer (I have the "Apply to new layer" box checked in my Auto-trace options), used the "Delete Vertex Tool" (the pen tool with a minus sign on it), and removed the selection of the person on the left, but the selection exists in all the frames following it (i.e. 9 seconds and 29 frames), and only gets removed from the particular frame I was working on.
Is there any way to get AE to remove the selection over the span of the clip as opposed to only the individual frame I'm working on?
BTW, I'm not married to this method. If anyone has a better method I could use, I'm all ears, although I would like to see this through if possible.

Thanks for the tips. I checked out the super tight junk matte tutorial, and this works well for green screened content but the issue I have is that my image is completely duotone - i.e. I only have black and white in the image. See here for an example:

So my challenge is trying to get certain portions of the image excluded, and I'm having a hard time doing this using rotobrush. In this case, I want to exclude the face on the left while auto-tracing or somehow rotobrushing the face on the right. Any other suggestions? I was hoping for an easier way short of applying tons of junk mattes and precomping.

Hi I write TV scripts using a simple two column table which can be many rows long - how can I get Pages to automatically run the table over multiple pages whilst still allowing me to cut and paste and rearrange the script? This is simple in Word and must work in pages but I can't work out how to get it to work. I've tried looking at the Page Break feature but it won't come up from the table?

At this time, There is no way to drive tables in Pages with AppleScript.
Do your job in Numbers which allow that.

How to customize the data selection on a standard 2LIS_08TRTLP

Hi All,
on the datasource '2LIS_08TRTLP Shipment delivery per stage', I would need to filter on '0DEL_TYPE delivery type' but it is not part of the standard 'data selection' for this datasource.
I have some initial loading issue if I cannot filter directly at the datasource on a specific delivery_type.
How can I 'enhance' the data selection for this standard datasource with the addition of this new filtering condition on 'DEL_TYPE'

Go to change mode of datasource using transaction code RSA6. uncheck the hide sel and customer field column.
Check the check box - del type and save it.
it will be available for selection and check it in rsa3

How do I auto trace something especific..

I don't want to live trace the whole image.... just the part of it, like using a magic wand tool and getting the outlines vectorized
I've heard you can do that with photoshop, that would help too if it cannot be done in illustrator...
or when you live trace something colored. the palette is automatic always, can i choose what colours i want them to vectorize?

Lol I know that live trace always traces the whole image.... that's what I'm asking.. anyway you gave me a great idea... I could trace it and delete the ones I don't like in that layer, panel the problem is that trace is not always perfect for example when I change 1 setting a brush might be ok but another part of the image wasn't traced quite well, then i change settings, and when the other part fixes the first part get messed up...
I really want to choose the colors because the image i want to trace is too colorful, (It's actually a cartoon), But for example hmm when I put the quantity of colors too low the Live trace doesn't give the colors of the image, and when i put it kinda high, it starts tracing hmm #000000 with #001020 (This is just an example), but the thing is that some parts of the image that visually have more contrast, don't get vectorized! omg lol
The link that I gave previously (is like a raster to SVG online page) Don't have that kind of problems, thats really weird, well.. and the thing is that you can choose color palette, TL;DR:Live trace don't get the colors as they should be... is there anyway you can change that "automatic" palette?

How do you stretch an image over multiple pages?

I need to print a large picture, one that will be 30x30 inches. I need to print multiple pages with the image cut up but when I try to resize the image to make it bigger, Pages doesn't create a new page, it just runs the image off the page. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Pages will accept custom page sizes of 30x30 (or even larger), but then you're faced with the problem of finding a printer that will handle that size of paper.
OTOH, if you move you're project to Numbers, you can:
Open a "Blank" template.
Use the Metrics Inspector to set the Sheet size to 30" by 30"
Click on the Table in the sidebar to select it.
Press Delete.
You'll be left with a 30x30 (or larger) blank slate on which you can place Text boxes, Shapes and graphics objects (including your large picture).
Thanks to Yvan, who has been mentioning the use of a Numbers sheet as a canvas foe some time now.

You would have to have all of the applets connect to a "server applet" on one of the computers. When the applet starts, you could give the choice to host or connect to another host using an ip address and port, using the ServerSocket and the Socket classes. However, this requires multiple threads running, but is quite possible. The server would need threads to accept clients, receive information, and send information (plus the built-in gui and event threads). The clients would need a thread to receive information from the server and update the applet page.

How to control auto-saving process over OSX 10.9.4?

When I close "Text Edit" or "Automator", "Pages" files, all changes stay remains at the file.
It's so confusing keep remember all sttings - disable/enable functions, variables etc. - to set them back before closing the file. There is no chance to omit save changes command anyway? I just want close the files without any changes.

In case you are unaware, OS X Mavericks also has a feature called Versions to view and restore past versions of documents.
Navigate to File > Revert To > Browse All Versions...
Click up and down the timeline on the right to view versions, then restore, duplicate, or leave a document unchanged.
You can also lock a document to protect it from changes.

Recording a stroke over multiple frames??

I'm learning Flash right now and I'm having problems motion
tweening a complex shape (rounded letter C). I can tween straight
line stuff the way I want, but curves get distorted. I suppose that
if I physically manipulated 60+ frames I could get a relatively
smooth C animation. But it seems like it should be easier. Can I do
this in Flash? Do I need another program to create a video file for
import?
Any help on this would be appreciated. It is for a final
project in a college class and I intend to use it in my classroom
as well.

First, re you "motion tweening" or "shape tweening"? The "C"
is actual vectors right? How are you
wanting it to animate? Rotate? I can't visualize what you are
trying to do based on your description.
Also, not sure if the last question is related...what do you
mean do you need another program to
create a video file for import? Are you asking about actual
live action video? If so then yes -
Flash is purely vector based - but you can import video files
into Flash - it just sounds like you
are asking if you need another program to *make* video files.
So I'm sorry but I missed the real
question I think.

Hi! Is there a way to move multiple frames in the motion editor (CS4)? Like now I have to move them one by one and it's hard to make them keep their values coz the shift+move doesn't seem to work. Or should it?

You can move multiple property keyframes for a single property in the Motion editor. Shift-click them and then drag. You cannot move keyframes across different properties, however.
If you want to move *all* keyframes on mutliple frames, you want to do this on the main timeline. Ctrl/cmd+drag across the frames to select the multiple frames, and then drag them on the tween span.

Yes sir. It w was really hard to explain. It is discontiguous segments that are separated by transparent areas. And I want those non transparent areas to be on their own layer. I have a photo shop file that has a bunch of buttons on them and they are on a transparent background. It is one layer. I want to select all the buttons and put them on their own layers. I can do this manually by selecting a button and cmd Just to a new layer, but when I have 200 buttons it is a daunting task.

we are using VS 2013, I need to run multiple Coded UI Ordered Tests in parallel on different agents.
My requirement :
Example: I have 40 Coded UI Test scripts in single solution/project. i want to run in different OS environments(example 5 OS ). I have created 5 Ordered tests with the same 40 test cases.
I have one Controller machine and 5 test agent machines. Now I want my tests to be distributed in a way that every agent gets 1 Ordered test to execute.
Machine_C = Controller (Controls Machine_1,2,3,4,5)
Machine_1 = Test Agent 1 (Should execute Ordered Test 1 (ex: OS - WIN 7) )
Machine_2 = Test Agent 2 (Should execute Ordered Test 2 (ex:
OS - WIN 8) )
Machine_3 = Test Agent 3 (Should execute Ordered Test 3
(ex: OS - WIN 2008 server) )
Machine_4 = Test Agent 4 (Should execute Ordered Test 4 (ex:
OS - WIN 2012 server) )

I have changed the “MinimumTestsPerAgent” app setting value
as '1' in controller’s configuration file (QTController.exe.config).
When I run the Ordered tests from the test explorer all Test agent running with each Ordered test and showing the status as running. but with in the 5 Test Agents only 2 Agents executing the test cases remaining all 3 agents not executing the test cases but
status showing as 'running' still for long time (exp: More then 3 hr) after that all so its not responding.
I need to know how I can configure my controller or how I can tell it to execute these tests in parallel on different test agents. This will help me reducing the script execution time.
I am not sure what steps I am missing.
It will be of great help if someone can guide me how this can be achieved.

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
As far as I know, we cannot specify coded UI ordered test run on specific test agent. And it is mainly that test controller determine which coded UI ordered test assign to which test agent.
Generally, I know that if we want to run multiple CodedUI Ordered Tests over multiple Test Agents for parallel execution using Test Controller.
We will need to change the MinimumTestsPerAgent property to 1 in the test controller configuration file (QTControllerConfig.exe.config) as you said.
And then we will need to change the bucketSize number of tests/number of machines in the test settings.
