How to customize ESS business package at backend

Hi,
We are having ESS business package downloaded and installed at backend. We are using EP7. Now I want to remove some URL links which navigates from one application area to another application area. let me can we do modifications to this at backend or is there any other way.

You can get it from service market place.Follow the below specified path.

Unzip that zip file to get the BPERP4ESS01_0-10003146.sca file. Deploy this file via SDM.

this answer is more elaborative
Click on SDN Community on the top Navigation Panel
       In Detail Navigation you can see SAP Netweaver Capabilities --> User Productivity --> Portal and collaboration link, Click on it
       You can find Portal Content Portfolio, Click on it.
       In new window you can find Business Packages
       We have three types of categories:
            1) Business Packages for Every User
            2) Business Packages for Managers.
            3) Business Packages for Specialist.
    When you click on any of Categories, you can find related to that categories of    Business Packages.
     Click on Download   then it will ask for Service Marketplace id and password

Fail to import ESS business package..Urgent!

Dear All NWDI expert,
I have installed the NWDI and trying my first step to customize the standard ESS business package. We are on ESS business package 13.
The following are the list of step that i have done. Can anyone tell me which step i make mistakes?
Step
1) Create a new track and assign the SAP_ESS release 100 to the track
2) Copy the 3 files SAPBUILDT13_0.SCA, SAPJEE13_0.SCA, SAPJTECHS13_0.SCA into E:\usr\sap\JTrans\CMS\inbox.
3) "Check IN" the 3 files and check in. Then "check import" and import the files.
4) Copy the SAPPCUIGP09_0-20001215.SCA and SAPPCUIGP09P_1-20001215.SCA into E:\usr\sap\JTrans\CMS\inbox.
5) "Check IN" both file and "check import" for the pcuigp sca files.
6) Import both of the file which is the original file and patch.      **(Do i need to import the patch file as well? I did not manage to import the patch file and the status shows outdated )
7) Copy the SAPESS09_0-20000512.SCA and SAPESS09P_3-20000512.SCA into E:\usr\sap\JTrans\CMS\inbox
8) "Check IN" the 2 files and check in. Then "check import" and import the files.
10) Import the 2 files.*(the system show import fail and i hav to repeat all over again by creating a new track)
When i try it for the second time, i am getting the import fail error again and below are parts from the files.

Hi Bryan,
Open the CBS Web UI and navigate to the buildspace you are working on.
a. Choose Edit and select Input Mode = OPEN.
b. Save the new state.
c. Try import again.

I would suggest that you search the forum first and try to find similar threads with similar queries. That will really speed up your process also.

Problems with user mapping to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0

Hi,
I am trying to download ESS Business Package for EP 6.0 but facing problems inspite of reading the SAP document on downloading Business Package. Here is my problem:
I start to download the package and to map the user ids. I am mapping the SDN user id to a SAP Service Marketplace user id as mentioned in the SDN website. But the download option is not working and gave an error when I clicked on the 'Download' link after user mapping.
It would help me a lot if anyone else who tried to download BPs after user mapping gave their feedback.
Can someone please clarify about the user ids and describe how can I download the ESS Business Package?

Hi,
from the description you provide I can't tell what the problem might be, so to determine the cause we need more information on this. Screenshots of the error message would be ideal.
In general, the following needs to be done:
- you need to be signed in at SDN with your Service Marektplace s user id
- the user mapping for the data source 'Service Marketplace' needs to be maintained
Please send the error information to: [email protected]

We are implementing Employee Self Service(ESS 600) to our client, our client needs W2 in our ESS Portal, but i haven't seen any W2 iView in our ESS business Package default iViews, if any body knows how to get w2 in our ESS Business Package through Portal.

Hi,
Accedentally i had deployed the ESS Business Package for SAP ERP 2004.
Now i want to deploy ESS Business Package for SAP ERP.
How can i undeploy the existing one???
Can i imort tthe new one ? will there be any conflicts?
How to do this?

You can check in following ways:
1. System Information --> All components
2. You can also look for portal content for each business packages in Platform Based Content under Content provided by SAP.

Hi Mike,
ESS BP is a portal content (runs only on portal runtime) which can only be deployed and run on SAP J2EE server (So it is java based).

From EHP2 for ECC 6.0, you have an option choose ABAP WebDynpro for Travel related services. However, the portal content (iViews) is still on SAP J2EE server.

ESS business package Deployment Error

Hi every body,
I am on Netweaver/SAP Enterprise Portal 7.0 SPstack12 and ERP 6.0, I want to deploy ESS business packages in portal for that i downloaded the following SCA files
BPERP5ESS12_0-10003288.SCA
SAPESS12_0-20000512.SCA
SAPPCUIGP12_0-20001215.SCA
when i tried to deploy in to AS JAVA (J2EE Engine of portal ), it successfully deployed SAPPCUIGP12_0-20001215.SCA and BPERP5ESS12_0-10003288.SCA . But when it is deploying SAPESS12_0-20000512.SCA file its throwing the following Error.
If any body phased the same problem and get resolved, please help me. Encouraging points will be given for useful posting.

Hi ,
ESS files to be deployed do not generally have the sampe SP level as that of Portal.
So if for portal if you have SP12
You might need to deploy ESS SP10 files and not ESS SP12 files.

Impact on changing ECC client on the working of ESS business package in EP

Dear Experts,
We had ESS business package working fine in our EP 7.0 which connected to client 100 of ECC 6.0.
Now we changed to client 700 in ECC 6.0.
Now all is working OK except for the Personal Data piece (address,bank etc).
The first screen shows up OK but when we review it we get the error :
Access via NULL object reference not possible.,error Key:RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE
The user is setup the same way as that in ECC 100.
The JCO is working correctly.Get successful message when we click "TEST".
I have used USER/PWD in both meta data and application data (though it is said to use Ticket and User/Pwd. It worked with ECC Client 100.)
