How to cut a movie in Logic 9?

Hi,
I'm using Logic 9 to compose a score for a short film. I would like to cut the first few minutes of the movie, how do I do that? And secondly, I want to bounce the audio along with the video. I have read in other discussions that I should go to Options>Movie>Bounce Movie and Audio but Movie doesn't appear in my Options.
Cheers

The Movie functions are under the File menu, not the Options menu. The Export Audio to Movie function is only available in 32-bit mode, so if you want to do that, you'll have to:
Quit Logic.
Find the Logic application in /Applications.
Get info on it and check the Open in 32-bit mode box.
Launch Logic again.
When you've exported the audio to the movie, you can reset Logic to 64-bit by unchecking the box.
Logic does not edit video - you'll have to do that in other software.

  • Wow ..if you want to know how to cut a movie..

..just go to Apple's front page.. www.apple.com

The "Hello" iPhone ad nicely fit the Academy Awards setting.
But "Hello" is an important part of Apple's history too. When the first Mac ads appeared in 1984, the Mac had "Hello" scrawled across the screen. No C:\> prompt. A human greeting that suggested change. This computer was different.
    Here's an example:

Although not shown here, I believe the first "Hello" Mac image was shown moments before Steve demoed the Mac on January 24, 1984:

  • Can Final Cut, use XML to cut a movie file?

I am looking into how to cut a movie file with a XML file that has in and out points in seconds.
Is this possible to do if not, what program can?

FCP can read a properly formatted XML file and produce a sequence, but FCP is a non-destructive editor, so the original movie will simply be referenced, not actually altered by FCP's interpreting of the XML.
I must admit, with the dearth of information in your query, that response is a total shot in the dark. If you could elaborate, you might get a better answer.

  • How do I move existing Logic projects to an external hard drive?

My internal hdd is getting close to capacity on my iMac so i've purchased an external 500GB USB hdd.
I have about 10 existing projects that i'd like to move to my new drive.
These projects consist of WAV files imported from a portable digital recorder, fresh recorded tracks using my audio interface, and midi tracks. Most of my tracks are at the 'final mix' stage and are sounding pretty sweet
Would it benefit me to move my Logic projects to my external drive, or should I scrap the idea and move my huge itunes library instead? If it is worth moving my Logic projects - what is the best way to do it? I really don't want to have to remix, re-record anything. I also don't want to get lost in Finder.
I'm quite new to Logic but I intend to 'use best practice' if possible. I get the impression that using an external hard drive with Logic may offer performance gains. My audio interface is firewire (M-Audio FW 410). The USB external hdd was brought to avoid firewire conflicts.
Any tips would be most welcome.
    Thanks in advance. Rich

In theory, you should be able to copy all of your projects to the external and open and use them exactly as before with no problems and no need to re-mix anything...
BUT, and its a big BUT...
Are you sure all of your projects were started AS projects with all the audio files, instrument samples etc. stored in the relevant folders in the project's folder?
Before doing anything, go through all of your "projects", make sure they ARE projects (there should be a project folder, the song file stored in the project folder, with audio, undo etc. folders within the main project folder for each one) - if they are not, do a "save as project" - it should give you a number of options to copy any external audio files etc. to the project folder. If for any reason it doesn't I would then choose "project - consolidate" from the main file menu, which will give you the same options. Even if you are SURE that all your projects ARE projects, I would choose "consolidate project" just to be sure...
You should then be able to proceed... but don't delete the originals until you are sure everything is working fine. I would even suggest backing up the originals in another location (it could even be a back-up folder on the same external), so you can just move them straight back to the original location if there are any problems.
When I first started using Logic many years ago there was no option to save projects, and I learnt the hard way to create the folder structure that logic now does for you. But even so, unless you started out knowing how to use this function, its possible some of your audio files are still stored in the wrong location. "Consolidate project" should solve this.
As for the USB HD - I would avoid using a USB drive for audio. It is said that USB 2 is faster than firewire 400, but I don't know any musician or film maker that would use one.
You can daisy chain firewire devices with no problems in my experience. If you do experience problems I might suggest you search up on any posts to do with M-Audio interfaces and Macs...
    Good Luck!

  • How to Encoding MPEG Movie to be able to import into Final Cut Express

I have MPEG Movie video clips that were sent to me. Title dvdMovie1chapter26.mpg (21.6MB) given to me from a PC taken on dvd video camera and compiled on CD disk. I would like to edit in Final Cut Express 4.0. I can not import in present form. Have used HandBrake and Toast 8 to encode. Divx and AVI to grainy. Have tried to make QuickTime Movie but 21.6 MB file went to 115.6 GB. Not sure how to set QuickTime options (Formats-Audio-Video Setting) in Toast 8 to encode with good quality this file so I can import into Final Cut Express. I will not have enough disk space to do all the video clips at 110 GBs or more per file. When I drag this file into Toast 8 with DVD-Video selected the file come into Toast as a Video-MPEG-2 720x480 29.97fps and Audio- Dolby Digital, Stereo 48000Hz File. Any Ideas?

How long is the movie? DV is 3.6MB/second. Handbrake is no good for this. I don't know if Toast will do it, but you can try MPEG Streamclip. You want to export to QuickTime using the DV NTSC codec at frame size of 720x480 and 29.97fps.

  • How do i export movies from my home dvd to final cut?

I have a home dvd that has a compilation of movies. I am trying to get one of these movies and import them into Final Cut Pro. When I opened the DVD, two folders come up: Video and Audio. Video has all of the movies that are on the menu, when I imported that file into Final Cut, I could not get any audio. When I went into the audio folder, there are no files inside. Any suggestions on how to get the movie in one piece with audio and video linked so that I can edit it?

You shouldn't need to bother with leads coming from your DVD player at all. As others have said use either of the software solutions given and both of these will handle the audio. The two folders you found on the DVD are standard (Audio TS and Video TS) but, weird as it may sound, the audio is actually within the video TS folder.
The software mentioned will also extract the audio for you from the video TS folder.
If you can get the original tape - in my experience extracting from DVD is no where as good as the original file but if you are stuck then it is better than nothing.
    Best of luck,
    Michael

  • How to export iphoto 'movie' to final cut pro

I am a novice to iPhoto, but use Final Cut for movies. Is there a way to create a slideshow in iPhoto and then export that into a file suitable for importing into FCP?

I know that a slideshow created in iPhoto and exported to QT will import into Final Cut Express. So I'm guessing you can do the same with FCP.
If FCP likes other formats better to work with then what comes to mind is to take the iPhoto movie in QT Pro and save it to a format that FCP likes better than .mov files. Again, I'm only guessing here as I don't use my FCE much at all.

  • How to cut the zeros after the decimal point ?

    Hello everybody,
does anyone know a solution how to cut the zeros after the decimal point at at CHAR data field?
    For example the field
    &RM06P-PRMG1&
This is a char field in the database, so that the command
    &RM06P-PRMG1(.0C)&
    doesn't work.
At the moment the output on the form is like that
    124,000
    It shoud be like that
    124
It would be great if anyone could help me!
    TIA!
    Strobbel

    Hi Strobbel,
If you are working on standard sapscript, first make a zcopy of it, do the modifications in that and assign the new form to the output types in tcode NACE.
First you need to create a program to write the logic, so go to tcode SE38 , create a new program (say zremove_zero) with Program type Executable.
    Now you will see ABAP Editor with statement;
    Report zremove_zero.
Add the following lines below the report statement.
    *&      Form  remove_zero
    *       text
    *      <--lv_AMT  text
    FORM remove_zero  CHANGING lv_amt.
      DATA p_amt TYPE p.
      MOVE lv_amt TO p_amt.
      MOVE p_amt TO lv_amt.
    Condense lv_amt.
    ENDFORM.
Now save and activate the program.
    Now open the zcopy of your script and Just above the statement  &RM06P-PRMG1& write the following lines;
    /: perform remove_zero in program zremove_zero
    /: changing &RM06P-PRMG1&
    /: endperform.
Now you can see your amount printing without decimals.
Try and let me know, hope i have guided you clearly.
    Regards
    Karthik D
P.S.: I advice you to take help from an ABAPER.

  • How many macs can I install Logic studio on?

Ok so i recently bought my first ever iMac.
And i installed logic studio on it, but I am considering a Mac Pro because honestly; i love my iMac but i kind of just want this imac for 'personal' things (movies, music, family photos, videos ect.)
    and I want a Mac Pro just for logic and any other PRO apps I buy later on. So i was wondering if anyone can help me with the question i have;
How many macs can I install Logic studio on?

It's in your Logic Studio license agreement:
    2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
    A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on one Apple-labeled desktop computer and one Apple-labeled laptop computer so long as both computers are owned and used by you. This License does not allow the Apple Software to run on more than one computer at a time.

  • Setting size of movie in Logic Express?

Is it possible to change the size of the movie in Logic Express? And if so, could someone tell me what the options are, as far as the size goes?
    Thanks...

I suspect it is the same as Logic Pro.
In Logic Pro you simply click and hold on the QT movie screen and a popup window appears where you can choose the size.
You did mean the actual area of the movie screen didn't you? Not the size in memory? That is determined, of course, by how you create your QT.

  • How to play DVD movie and video on Blackberry

This guide is mainly about how to rip DVD and convert video to BlackBerry Storm. First, you should know what video format is BlackBerry Storm supports.
Because DVD has CSS copyright protection, we need a program to rip DVD and convert video for BlackBerry Storm. The tool we use is BlackBerry Converter Suite, it includes two programs: DVD to BlackBerry Storm Converter and BlackBerry Storm Video Converter. This program not only supports BlackBerry Storm, but also BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl and BlackBerry Bold series.
It supports audio and video format as follow:
Video: DVD, ISO, AVI, MPEG, MKV, MP4, MP4-AVC, M4V, WMV, MOV, 3GP, 3G2, MPG, FLV, ASF, VOB
    Audio: WMA, M4A, MP3, AAC, AC3, WMA
For more info about this BlackBerry Converter Suite, you can refer to here.
And here is the free download link, about 12.4 MB.
Now, let’s start the guide about converting DVD and Video to BlackBerry Storm.
Step1, Download and install the BlackBerry Storm converter, and then run it.
Step2. Load DVD into the software by clicking “Add DVD file”.
Here we can load three kinds of DVD's:
    1. Real DVD, just put the DVD in your DVD drive and click load DVD, (you can find it by clicking the triangle on the right of 'load file' button.)
    2. DVD ISO image, you can amount your ISO files in the daemon tools and then load the virtual DVD drive.
    3. A DVD folder, sometimes you may store the DVD folder in your hard drive, it appears like "Video_TS" "Audio_TS" folders. You can load it by clicking the "load DVD folders" button.
Step3. Select Profile, Subtitle, Audio, output directory setting
After you load DVD into the software, click the Profile drop-down list to select the proper format according to your BlackBerry Type, this guide is mainly about how to convert DVD and video to BlackBerry Storm, so we select the “BlackBerry Storm series(*.mp4)” profile.
Regular DVD movies usually have several subtitles such as English, French, German, etc. You can select one you prefer. You can also delete the subtitle by selecting “No Subtitle”. Selecting Audio is the same. If you want to join all your DVD files into one video file, please select the option named “Merge into one file”. For more advanced setting, you can open the setting panel by clicking “Setting”.
    Step4. Start the conversion
After all things done, you can click the “Start” to begin the conversion; it will take about 30 minutes for converting a regular two hours DVD movie. When the conversion finished, click “find target” to located the converted video on your computer, connect your BlackBerry Storm to computer, and then copy the video to your BlackBerry memory card, that’s all. Then you can enjoy your favorites DVD movies on your BlackBerry Storm.
For converting video to BlackBerry Storm, you can click “Video to BlackBerry” to run the BlackBerry Movie Converter, the operation steps are similar to DVD to BlackBerry Converter, So I’m not repeat here. But I want to add some tips to the BlackBerry Movie Converter.
    1. The Video to BlackBerry Converter supports batch conversion, so you can add multiple video files at one time.
    2. The Video to BlackBerry Converter embeds powerful video editing functions, you can use it to cut video, trim video, crop video, and you can even add a watermark to the video.
    3. The Video to BlackBerry Converter can also help you convert video file to MP3, WMA, AAC, etc audio, so you can set it as your BlackBerry ringtone.

STOP.....WHAT DOES "HOW TO CONVERT DVD MOVIE AND SET THEM ON THE IPOD" HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS DISCUSSION FORUM?
    This is very simple:
THe 5G IPOD is designed to seamsleslly play video acquired from the ITUNES music store. What does that mean? It means that if you get the video from the Itunes music store it should work, and if it does not work, you then post the relevant question in the ITUNES discussion forum.
If you want to rip DVD's, by all means, search in websites like www.videohelp.com, or search in google. If you do not find the answer there, then search here.
This particular question has been ASKED countless times and the last time I checked the forum was called Using Your 5th Generation IPOD", not "How do I get XYZ type video to play on the IPOD" nor "How do I use ABC program to rip, convert, a DVD"?
Have you checked first the video specs of the video ipod? What formats, codecs, etc? before posting your question here?
Don't get me wrong, we are here to help, but it is a little bit irritating to see newcomers post questions without having searched for the answers first, specially on a topic that has been addressed so many times as this one

  • Inventory movement using logic script - BPC NW 10

    Hello BPC experts,
I'm working on inventory movement using logic script. The idea is that the initial stock of the first period equals the final stock of the previous period.
Here is an example of my inventory report : (Dimension INVT in function of dimension TIME)
                                                  2014.01       2014.02      2014.03        2014.04
    F01 Stock first period                  12
    F02 Initial Stock                          12                 11              10                 9
    F03 Inventory Inputs                    2                   4                6                   8
    F04 Inventory Outputs                 3                   5                7                   9
    F05 Final Stock                          11                 10               9                   8
The Stock of the first period is entered
The initial Stock = Stock first period (12 in our case)
Inventory inputs and Outputs are entered
Final Stock = Initial Stock + Inventory Inputs - Inventory Outputs
I tried the following script but it does not work :
*XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME = 2014.01 //we should then retrieve the first period of each year which is not necessary the first month of the year
    *WHEN TIME
    *IS 2014.01
    *REC(EXPRESSION = [INVT].[F01], INVT = F02)
    *ENDWHEN
*SELECT(%TIME_LIST%,"[ID]","TIME","[PREVMEMBER]"<>"") // PREVMEMBER is a property of TIME
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET TIME = %TIME_LIST%
    *XDIM_MEMBERSET INV = F05
    *WHEN TIME
    *IS %TIME_LIST%
//Something is missing here.. How to retrieve F05 values related to all periods and copy them in F02
    *REC(EXPRESSION =[INVT].[F05],INVT = F02)
    *ENDWHEN
Please how can I achieve this ?
    Thanks
    Maha

    Hi Vadim,
    Thank you for your reply
I'm working with BPC NW 10 SP 05 (CPMBPC 801 SP 05), Engine ABAP
My model contains the following dimensions ACCOUNT (A), TIME (T), CATEGORY (C), ENTITY (E), CURRENCY (R), INVT (User Def)
In the INVT dimension we have members like (Stock first period, Initial Stock, Inventory Inputs, Inventory Outputs, Final Stock)
    - [INVT].[Stock first period] is entered
    - [INVT].[Initial Stock] = [INV].[Stock first period]
    - [INVT].[Inventory input] and [INVT].[Outputs] are entered
    - [INVT].[Final Stock] = [INVT].[Initial Stock] + [INVT].[Inventory Inputs] - [INVT].[Inventory Outputs]
We want to calculate Initial Stock in DEFAULT.lgf :
    [INVT].[Initial Stock] when (TIME=2014.01) = [INVT].[Stock First Period] when (TIME= 2014.01)
    [INVT].[Initial Stock] when (TIME=2014.02) = [INVT].[Final Stock] when (TIME= 2014.01)
    [INVT].[Initial Stock] when (TIME=2014.03) = [INVT].[Final Stock]  when (TIME=2014.02)
    [INVT].[Initial Stock] when (TIME=2014.04) = [INVT].[Final Stock]  when (TIME=2014.03)
When a user enters the values of "Stock first period", "Inventory Inputs" and "Inventory Outputs", Initial Stock and Final stock should be calculated via logic script

  • How do I delete locators in Logic Pro 8?

    Hi there,
How do I delete locators in Logic Pro 8?
It seems I created them mistakenly, now I cannot delete them.  I don't want to use them and
I don't need to cycle anything.  I'm trying to set markers accurately to timecode on a video,
but it seems the locators are preventing me from doing so?!!  I'm trying to match accurately
to the timecode frame and when I reach the unwanted locator it prevents me from moving
up a frame to the frame I want.
    Thanks
    Simon

You can easily move locaters by dragging them. You disable them by turning off cycle mode in the transport bar. They are always there but when disabled should not be a problem.
