How to cut the clips in Timeline ?

I have placed a clip into the Timeline. I have keyframed on the 2nd last frame instead of the last frame.
So, I double-click the clip on the timeline & placed the playhead on the 2nd last frame on the clip (in the timeline). Then I use the blade tool. I wanted to cut away the clip at the 2nd last frame.
When I placed the blade onto the playhead & click, the clip doesn't seem to be cut. Instead, vertical lines appear on the clip (placed on the timeline) instead.
Any tips on cutting clips using the blade tool ?
Thanks

I still don't know about these vertical lines that are appearing, but try this process:
1. Select the clip in the timeline.
2. Place a marker on the selected clip's second-to-last frame using the "M" key.
3. Zoom way in on the clip in the timeline using the zoom slider in the lower left.
4. Select the ripple tool from the tool palette (rr)
5. Drag the right side of the clip until it snaps to the marker.
P.S. the blade tool is used in the timeline, not the viewer. You could start after step 3 and use the blade tool instead of the ripple tool to make the cut on the marker if you wanted.

Thanks David & Skalicki.
Yes my mistake was to open it in the viewer.
I have figured out what the vertical lines are. It was because I keep on clicking the blade tool. The vertical lines are fragments of the clips that I cut. I expand the timeline, select the fragmented clips then do a delete and it is gone !!
Problem solved.
Thank you.

I'm trying to edit a talking head video and want to find an straightforward way to mark a spot at the end of a statement made by the subject and then cut the clip at that point. Can you help? Thanks.

I don't know how to mark a clip the way you want without adding an audio clip and putting in markers and then splitting the clip. You would think that hitting M would be the logical way to do things, but...
But, one can just click before the place one wants to edit, hit the spacebar and hit it again when the exact place is reached. Then go to the clip menu and click split clip. That works, but one really needs to keep the cursor out of both the timeline and the event browser, or the place in the timeline gets changed..
Are you really still using iMovie 08? That drove me nuts...a year later iMovie 09 came out with some needed improvements, and iMovie 11 with its audio adjustments is even better.
Personally, I edit iMovie with kind of a meat axe. I grab whole chunks of video and put it into the project, then edit the ends to get the frame I want. I got too frustrated otherwise.

  • How to change the clip's duration under imovie 10.0.3?

How to change the clip's duration under imovie 10.0.3?

This is a new feature introduced in 10.0.3 which works fine for me.  The old way was to select Modify - Fast Forward.  You can only select certain speed ratios but a slider should appear near the top of the clip which allows finer speed adjustment.  have you tried this?

  • How to cut the zeros after the decimal point ?

    Hello everybody,
does anyone know a solution how to cut the zeros after the decimal point at at CHAR data field?
    For example the field
    &RM06P-PRMG1&
This is a char field in the database, so that the command
    &RM06P-PRMG1(.0C)&
    doesn't work.
At the moment the output on the form is like that
    124,000
    It shoud be like that
    124
It would be great if anyone could help me!
    TIA!
    Strobbel

    Hi Strobbel,
If you are working on standard sapscript, first make a zcopy of it, do the modifications in that and assign the new form to the output types in tcode NACE.
First you need to create a program to write the logic, so go to tcode SE38 , create a new program (say zremove_zero) with Program type Executable.
    Now you will see ABAP Editor with statement;
    Report zremove_zero.
Add the following lines below the report statement.
    *&      Form  remove_zero
    *       text
    *      <--lv_AMT  text
    FORM remove_zero  CHANGING lv_amt.
      DATA p_amt TYPE p.
      MOVE lv_amt TO p_amt.
      MOVE p_amt TO lv_amt.
    Condense lv_amt.
    ENDFORM.
Now save and activate the program.
    Now open the zcopy of your script and Just above the statement  &RM06P-PRMG1& write the following lines;
    /: perform remove_zero in program zremove_zero
    /: changing &RM06P-PRMG1&
    /: endperform.
Now you can see your amount printing without decimals.
Try and let me know, hope i have guided you clearly.

P.S.: I advice you to take help from an ABAPER.

  • How to cut between clips?

I'm not sure how to cut between two clips in a sequence.
I uploaded a screencast documenting my frustrations: http://youtu.be/gIMspPJxXF4
After uploading and carefully reading Cutting Two Camera Shoot and watching Multicamera Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 - YouTube which is slightly outdated since Multicamera UI is now hidden in the Program monitor settings, I did manage to make an edit that switches between my GoPro of my head and my screencast. But I did find the whole "Multicamera" process a bit long winded. Am I missing a trick?
Furthermore on the same sequence I found it impossible to apply a Fade to white transition to both the screencast and video of my head at the same time. Maybe I'm not versed in selections.

Wow, that was confusing watching those videos. There's a couple ways to quickly set up and run a multicam switch in PPro CC 2014 but here's how I do it:
    1) Sync up your clips. Align them how you want either using plural eyes or just do your own visual/audio sync (premiere has it's own audio sync which you can google how it works but I've found it not 100% accurate)
    2) Hold down ALT and select only the video clips you want to cut between.
    3) Right click on those highlighted clips and select NEST
    4) That creates one nested clip on video track 1. (Because of the way I do this it still leaves the audio visible from all the cameras/sources below so they can be accessed right on that timeline.) Now right-click on that nested video track and select MULTICAM>Enable.
    5) Now go to the PROGRAM window/panel and hit the + button on the bottom right. You'll see one icon that looks like windows, drag that out to the project panel so it stays visible always.
    6) Click on that little window icon (if you hover over it, it should say multicam window or something like that). Now you'll see all the cameras at once and also another window that shows what camera is "live". It's ALL in the Program window now ever since the last few versions of Premiere.
    7) Basically just hit play and start clicking on those little camera windows in that program monitor/panel as the video plays and it will record all your cuts. When you hit stop or pause, you'll then see all those cuts populate your video track. Done super easy.
    8) To change a cut after you've stopped the playback you can bring the play head over the clip you want changed and then just click on the camera window that you want to change it to. Also, using the "n" or nudge tool helps you drag the cut or edit points forward or back in time.
    Hope that helps! Enjoy!

  • How to lenghten the clip with fade out

I have a clip on the secondary storyline wich ends with a fade out. I'd like to lenghten the clip maintaining its fade out as it is. Is there a quick way to do it without having to cut and paste the fade out?

Actually something strange happens here. I move the clip backward (after having selected clip and dissolves) and I get that the clip is moved, but the dissolves remain where they were.....) :

  • How to replace a clip in timeline whilst maintaining in/out points

    Hi
I've been working on editing some interview footage in FCPX. I have a bunch of clips put together in the timeline. Now I wanted to do some editing to the audio, which I did in Audacity. I re-imported the fixed audio and synced it with the original video clip. Now I want to replace the old clip in the timeline with the new clip with fixed audio. The problem is that when I do a replace, it inserts the whole of the new clip. Can I get it to match my existing in/out points?
    Yes I'm new to this.
    Thanks very much

Thanks Tom. I actually figured a way to do what I wanted. In the timeline I right clicked the clip I wanted to replace, choose open in timeline, then you can just drag and replace the entire clip but it keeps the in/outs. I was sure you could do it somewhere!

  • How do I lock clips to timeline?

Hey everybody. I am a new 4 user and am not used to the way that it 'thinks' so much and am not enjoying the self adjusting that it does to your timeline when you make any adjustments to clips or pictures earlier in the time line.
Ex1: Want to swap out a picture used in beggining of timeline - result: cuts soundtrack, and moves all pic/videos over to fill in gap by it self
Ex2: Want to shorten a clip, all other clips move over to adjust.
When I shorten a clip, I want it to stay put on the timeline (not adjust others so that there is not a gap).
Can you guys suggest a best process to do this? I might still be caught up in old school, but anything would be helpful.
    Thanks

    Brian,
I agree that there *should* be a lock for all Tracks, like in Premiere Pro. I have seen what you describe and it is not fun. A "feature request" would be good for this. Do not know if PE7 has added Lock Tracks.
For multi-camera editing, you might want to look at Pro. It handles multi-camera quite well. There are not THAT many reasons to spend the extra $ to go to Pro, but this is one. From time to time, Adobe offers some sweet deals with upgrades from Elements to the Pro versions of the programs in the suites: Premiere, Photoshop. Some folk have gotten the CSx upgrades are wonderful prices from the Elements versions. Do not know of any "special offers" right now, but wouldn't hurt to check out the Adobe Store and see what's shaking, especially with PE7 being released, and CS4 coming real soon. Deals might abound. If I found one, I might even be tempted to upgrade from PE4 to get another additional license for CSx.

  • How To Organize the Clips I Import?

I just started on a project that involves putting together an iMovie video from vacations that were shot over the past 25 years.  I have imported about three now and I'm now realizing that i no indication which year they were taken unless i go through the first few seconds and compare it to how ther were named in the finder.  This is tedius to say the least and I need a better way.  Is there a way to devide imported videos into years or labels?  Something?

Since posting this question I realized that the easiest and best way is to import in sub-folders and name it the year of the trip.  We can close this one down.

  • Document Templates in MS Word - how to cut the leading zeroes in number

    Hello CRM gurus !
We use document templates in MS Word but have the document number printed with the leading zeroes.
    example we have now:
    0005000681
    example we want to have:
    5000681
Question - how to do that?
Is that in standard? The document number is the ObjectID tag as far as I know. Do I need to create another tag?
Or may be just call a function? Do I need to change my current Web Service Tool? Is that some extra ABAP to be inserted?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
have you tried to use this function call to delete de leading zeros?:
         CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT'
           EXPORTING
             input  = value
           IMPORTING
             output = value.

  • How can I adjust the clip speed in the editing window of Premiere Elements 11?

In former versions of Premiere Elements I could change the function while pushing the corner of a clip in the editing window: it was not cutting only, but I could also use it to adjust the speed of a clip (clicked the clock icon, after that the speed of a clip was adjusted perfectly).
But in Premiere Elements 11 this funktion seems to have gone: Now the timeline in the editing window seems to have the cutting function only!
Yes, I still can use the function "prolong time" (or whatever it is called in English, I use the German version), but in this I just can guess what percentage would fit and it's a very hard "try & error" part to get it right. In the former version the speed was adjusted "automatically" to fit the duration the clip needs – that was way more comfortable.
So, is this function really gone? I couldn't emagine why! Or how is this done now?
Couldn't find any post or video, explaning how to do that now.
No: The new "time zone" feature is not the same: it's not adjusting the needed speed rate automatically.
And by the way: There is a bug in that fuction: When I once added a new time zone, I can't remove it – clicking "set back" (or reset) doesn't do anything, the time zone stays where it is and is not deleted at all! I'm using a Windows 7 Ultimate system (64 bit) ...
I really would appreceate if someone could tell me how to adjust the clip speed perfectly to the needed duration of a clip!
    Thanks in advance!

    SG
An interesting point that you point out
"However, the drag-to-size method of adjusting Time Stretch has indeed been removed from version 11."
I am assuming that you are referring to an earlier version of Premiere Elements,  having a Time Stretch icon (clock icon) above the Timeline to select, and then perhaps, with the mouse cursor, dragging on the end of the video clip to increase its duration. The keyboard shortcut to select the "clock icon" in thar instance is X. If you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window/, you will mysteriously find "Time Stretch Tool" command with a keyboard shortcut X. And, if you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Applications/Time Stretch, you will find "Time Stretch" with a keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R. Bottom line: I have not gotten the keyboard shortcut X to work in Premiere Elements 11 in this regard, but the Ctrl+R does to bring up the Time Stretch dialog to do the job.
In accord with this business of what is and what isn't...the good old Razor Tool. That disappeared from sight a long time ago. Yet users were able to use that in later versions using the keyboard shortcut C. Now for me that "C" does not work to change the mouse cursor to a razor for clip splitting at the Timeline level in Premiere Elements 11 in spite of the fact that Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window continues to show Razor Tool command with keyboard shortcut C.
On the good news side of things, if one trims a clip in the Preview Window, one is still able to drag that trimmed clip to the Timeline (Expert view) and drag it out on either of its edges with the mouse cursor to recover the whole clip. And, the mouse cursor is still going to be that red ] with a double edged black horizontal arrow going through it.
