How to De-activate iTunes Account on Old Computer and Re-activate it on New Computer

I have recently gotten a new laptop (Sony Vaio) and want to delete my iTunes account on my old laptop (which will be given away) and re-activate it on my new laptop. I want to completely get rid of my iTunes from that computer and transfer everything that was on that iTunes to the iTunes that I will get in my new laptop.
Thank you.

Type"move itunes library" into the google search bar for direction in moving your itunes library.
Copy everything from your old computer to your new one, then erase/restore your old computer.

  • How do i move Itunes from my old computer to my new one?

Trying to move Itunes account from old computer to new one.  Am not sure if I install Itunes on new computer will it then allow me to log in and obtain my already purchased games/music or will i lose from old to new computer?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

You could use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

  • How do I remove iTunes from an old computer

How do I de authorize an iTunes from an old computer

If you no longer have the computer, you will have to deauthorize ll computer and then start over again.
    To deauthorize a computer
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Deauthorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from theAdvanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Deauthorize.
Remember to deauthorize your computer before you sell it, give it away, or get your computer serviced. Also, make sure you deauthorize your computer before you upgrade your RAM, hard disk or other system components, or reinstall Windows. If you do not deauthorize your computer before you upgrade these components, one computer may use multiple authorizations.
To deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID
If you need to authorize your new computer and are unable due to already having five authorized computers, you can deauthorize all computers by doing the following:
Click iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your Apple ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

I need to move my wife's itunes account from her PC to my Mac.  It will be the second itunes account on our mac.  She will long in as her own user on the mac.

One way is to Drag and Drop your  Entire iTunes Folder   from your Old Computer, to an External Hard Drive...
Then Drag and Drop it to your New Computer...

  • HT1727 How do I transfer iTunes songs when old computer died?

Old computer died so cannot deauthorize. So how do you move contents? Yes I do have a backup.

It should be a matter of restoring the ITunes folder from the backup of \Users\<User>\Music into your current user's music folder.
Should your restored backup not contain the complete library see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • How do I get music off an old iPod and put it on a new iPhone?

I have an older model iPod that was synced to my computer back in 2007. Obviously that computer is LONG gone. What I'd like to do now is transfer all the music off the iPod to my new iPhone but I can't figure out how. I downloaded iTunes and plugged in my iPod and iPhone but it hasn't seemed to help.
    How do I do this?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

Once the music from the old iPod is back in iTunes, configure to sync to your iPhone.
