I forgot the password when i encrypt my external hard disk .
Is there any method i can do to remove my password without lose the data .

If your using Apple's FileVault2 then when you encrypted it you would have been given a 'Recovery Key' which either you would have been given the choice to store in your iCloud account, or would have been told to it write down and keep it safe somewhere. If you have forgotten both your password and your recovery key then you only have yourself to blame.
On the subject of password, the password is normally your login password i.e. the password you login to the computer with. Have you forgotten that?
If you are able to boot and get in to the computer i.e. login then you could copy everything to an external drive. Then reformat the Mac, set it up and copy things back.

You downloaded the trial version for the creative cloud. It doesn't work with a serial number. It is licensed differently. You will have to uninstall it and then download and install from here:

You can't encrypt a single file. I'm not sure what you did to try. You can make an encrypted disk image which begins with a folder, if desired. Or, you can just create a blank, encrypted disk image, then move your desired files into that.
While you could partition off the free space without erasing the disk, you cannot encrypt it because you need a GUID Partition table which requires you to repartition the entire drive, not just the free space. -

By default, the name of the hard drive will appear on the list of Excluded items when you open System Preferences / Time Machine / Options.
Click on the name of the hard drive to highlight it, and then click on the - (minus) button at the bottom of the Exclusions list to remove the drive from the list of items that are Excluded on backups.
Time Machine will back up both your Mac and the hard drive on the next pass. -

You probably have a Mac mini, as an iMac is a different system.
Using firewire connections, you can daisy chain drives together. So, you hook one into the mini, then hook the next into a firewire port on the external hard drive connected to the mini. If your current hard drive is connected via firewire, you should be able to add another firewire drive by plugging into your existing external hard drive.
If you're using a USB drive, you can buy a USB hub that will allow you to connect more than one USB device. -

If you know the name of the photo, search for it using the name. If you don't and have Time Machine or other backup, locate the photo and you should be able to get the name.

Steve suggested using Preview to browse across the network. Yes - you are correct on this and that's what I'm doing. Problem is that you can't view multiple photos without lots of little preview windows and right clicking. I'd like something like Windows (Vista) Explorer Preview. You right click a photo, Preview and arrow through them at full size. Very nice. No importing malarky. -

Kind suggest how to change it to read & write.Unlock the padlock, click on you and change to read & write.

This external hard disk used to serve as the main drive of my mbp. It got corrupted and the OSX would no longer load. I upgraded to a 500gb hd and used the old hd as an external drive. I tried to copy my files but i could not access them because of the filevault encryption. 110gb of hd space appears as used which means that my files are still in the drive. Is there a way to retrieve these files? thanks
According to your post, you're using Leopard, so FileVault only encrypts your user folder (unlike Lion). On the mounted external drive, in your user folder, you should see a file called username.sparsebundle, with username being your user name. Double-click that file to open it and it should prompt you for a password. Type in your password and the file will mount as a volume in Finder. You should be able to copy all of your files over.

Have you selected the disk?
You can only encrypt disks that are directly-connected (ie, not on a network), with the GUID partition map scheme.
Put your mouse pointer on the dimmed checkbox, and after a moment an explanation should appear. -

You do not need the Setup Assistant; in fact, you do not need any software on an external hard drive. I have two LaCie's; I erased the drive as soon as I plugged it in. You will need to format it anyway because most hard drives come Windows formatted. So, if you only want to use it with the Mac, highlight it in Disk Utility and choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format and the GUID Partition scheme under Options. While doing that, it will erase the drive (and get rid of the LaCie software) - once finished, your drive is ready to use for Time Machine or any other backup plans you have for it.

Only AppleTV1 has an internal PATA drive. The largest PATA drive available is 250gb.
Hacks are available to use the USB port on AppleTV1 to access more storage.
AppleTV2 does not have an internal drive.
Why do you need more storage in your AppleTV? iTunes streams video to AppleTV so no need to store it locally.
