How to deactivate a particular contact as iMessage user

One of my contact use another iphone to sent me messages and it was automatically register as iMessage.
However now this contact is not longer using iphone but all my message sent are still registered as iMessage but the contact did not recieved my message though it is indicated as delivered.
I know we can on/off the iMessage settings but it is too troublesome to just turn off if I need to send that contact a message.
Is there a better way to resovle?

Write a new text message, type in his/her phone no. physically (not via contacts)... if the server does not detect him/her using iOS5, message sent out will be in SMS text message. you should see your messages sent out in green color.

Hi user 1724, before icloud, we had the same issue....
so yes, the solution was to each log into the mac separately.
i kept the main itunes library and apple id, and my son made his own itunes library (which linked to the main itunes/apple id) - so we were able to maintain separate contacts lists.
but then w/ the cloud i guess we assumed the cloud would know we each have different contact lists on diff. phones, but it seems the cloud just lumped it all together -

After signing in to iCloud on the Mac and the iOS device you have to Enable the Contacts apps to sync.
On the Mac this is System Preferences > iCloud and tick the Contacts app box.
You then need to make the similar setting on the iOS settings.

I recently installed the beta version of iMessage and all of my contacts that were in iChat were no longer visable? I was going to have to add them 1 by 1. If I'm using a google based chat, shouldnt all of my contacts that were saved in iChat via the google chat be visable? How do I get all of my contacts up and visable on iMessage?

Messages can use the same Buddy Lists as iChat did.
Go to the Window Menu and they are listed with the same Keystrokes.
Alternatively when you use the Messages window and the New Message icon top left then a Chat is added the the list on the left
A Blue + icon appears top right.
This gives you access to Address Book groups, Contacts (direct Address Book listing) or Buddies (shows all Logged in Buddies from All Buddy Lists)
Once you have a Name in the "TO" spot it can be clicked to show you the "To" and "From" options you have to that Buddy/Contact (in some cases that may be both)

To recover the contacts, if you have synced this at iCloud before? Try syncing it there again.
In the future, if you have 2 separate phones and only 1 Itunes/PC, you need to have a separate account for each of the phones.

I want to hide contact details of few persons from my Q5, like either phone number or email, or both.
How to do that?
I want the name to be visible while incoming/outgoing calls, but I do not want to disclose the numbers. I mean, when I search in my contacts, only the name should be visible. Let's say "Helen Hunt". But when someone (or even me) clicks on that name, no number should be visible, but one should be able call Helen Hunt.
There is no default option for that currently (there might be if I couldn't find it). Is there any app that can perform this action?

There's .Mac syncing which can be the easiest. If you and your wife have a .Mac account and share it you can use .Mac sycning to sync up your contacts on the both user accounts.

When you tap the icon to create a new message, there is a blue + sign in the upper right corner to open your contacts app, you can add contacts from there.
However, the person that you want to message with, must be registered on their own device in order for you to message with them. If they have not set up messages on their iDevice, it will not work until they do.

You can't send them a message unless they have a Mac or iOS device and turn on iMessage.

Well, let take the personal service point of view : let say, I had two calendars on my iCloud account : one for work, one for my leisure activities.
On my MacBook Pro that I use at home as well as at my office, I would want the two calendars to show and since I am alone in my office, I would want the alerts for both my work and my leisure activities to show (and make a sound at the same time).
But on my iPad that I only use at home, I would only want my leisure activities alerts to show (and make a sound) and on my iPhone that I only use for work, I would only want my work alerts to show (and make a sound).
That is a personal service that simply does not work.
Why would Apple give us the opportunity to hide some calendars on certain devices but not allow us, on these same devices, to switch off the alerts linked to these calendars that we have chosen to hide ? Why having alerts of calendars that do not even show on these devices ?
And I am an Apple fan since 1984, since the very first Mac. I still do believe Macs and Apple devices and/or software (iOS, OS X and others...) are much better and much more efficient than " Microsoft, Windows, Google and other Android devices and software.
But that does not mean everything's perfect (and I find that quite normal).
Nevertheless, in this case, letting alerts make a sound on a device where a specific calendar is not shown, that does not make any sense : when uncheking those calendars, the alerts linked to those calendars should be automatically switch off (but alerts should be able to work on the calendars that are shown.)

Web Dispacher, deactivate a particular node how to?

Is there any property that can be set in the Web dispatcher profile or the message server, which can stop sending any request to a particular J2ee instance in the cluster?
The business requirement is that one server (node) in the cluster should not receive any HTTP(s) request from the client, so that this server can be dedicated to run some application intensive routines.
One way that I have figured out is that we can deactivate a particular node from the Web dispatcher ICM web console, but this is not persisted and the settings go away when the web dispatcher is re started. How can I make it persist?

Did you ever resolve this problem? We too want to deactivate a server from the Web dispatcher. We also need to connect directly to it as you require. When we used Gary's method of Config Tool --> Server_ID####### --> Debug --> Debuggable --> Restricted Load Balancing, we are also unable to connect to that node directly.
I have read through the Web dispatcher online Help. The mention creating groups but they all seem to pertain to ABAP groups using SMLG. Our Web dispatcher is used in a stictly J2EE environment.
There must must be a Profile setting or some config to restrict specified nodes... Let me know if you have found out?
