How to deactivate account on dead computer?

Two of the computers I had in my home network have died but had been activated for iTunes.  How can I remove them so I can activate my new computer?

If you have reached the limit of 5, then deauthorize all and  authorize the active computers:

  • How to deactivate cs5 on dead computer

Adobe I would like to deactivate my CS5 design premium on all other computers but the latest one. One computer is dead and the drive reformatted, the other was a refresh and re-installed. They say the only way to do that is to contact you but there is not phone support nor email. So how do I go about fixing this problem when I am only using CS5 on one computer? I am really hoping it fixes my problem because I cannot update and who knows what else.

It can be deauthorized by using Web Chat. Here's a link:

This is the 3rd computer I've installed CS4 - the other 2 crashed.  I have the hard drive from the most recent computer.  How do I deactivate the CS4 serial number so I can run it on this new computer?

You need to call support to have activation count reset.

  • HT1329 I have a dead computer with itunes on it.  How do I deauthorize a dead computer?

How do you deauthorize a dead computer for itunes?  We only get 5 computers, and I need a new computer to be authorized for itunes.

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:

  • HT1420 How do I deauthorize a dead computer

As I said, how do I deauthorize a dead computer?

Expanding on what Niel said, you cannot yourself deauthorize a computer that's not working or to which you no longer have access. You can authorize a total of up to five systems, so it's probably not really important that you deauthorize your dead unit now. Once you reach five total authorizations, a button will appear in your iTunes Store account that will allow you to deauthorize all your systems, so that would at that time recover the now-useless authorization.
If for some reason you really feel you need to deauthorize that system now, you can try contacting  the iTunes Store customer support department through their Contact form (follow the on-screen instructions)  and explaining the problem to them. They might be willing to clear your authorizations for you.
    Regards.

  • HT1727 How do I deauthorize a dead computer

How Do I deathorize a dead computer and transfer my old itunes library to a used computer.

There is no need to deauthorize unless you've reached the 5 computer max.  If you have reached that max, deauthorze all computers and then authorize the one's you actually have.
As for moving the library, use the backup of the computer to move all the content to the new computer.

  • How to deactivate accounts?

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to deactivate accounts?
The objective is to link to existing objects (contacts, opportunities, accounts/parent accounts) just activated accounts.
I want to create a custom field ("Account Status" for example) to manage this need. But I don't know how to setup it.
The second idea I have in mind is to delete the account. I'm pretty sure that it will be OK for links between other objects and "existing" accounts.
The problem is that I cannot retrieve it via the search feature. I don't know if it is possible to keep "removed" accounts in the search.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Mickael

    Hi !
The Account Status field already exists in standard.
With this field, desactivate accounts means just put Inactive in it.
If you delete the account, you won't have it in the search results anymore. Only in the link Deleted items in the right top of the page.
If you want to prevent user to link an Inactive Account to another object, I don't think yhere's a solution for the moment.
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • How to deactivate account(s)

I have been using iTunes for many years and unfortunately did not deactivate accounts for computers that I sent to the industrial scrap heap. How can I deactivate the accounts for these computers?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.......Ray

You can't. To deauthorize a computer, it needs to be accessible and working and connected to the internet.
When you hit 5, you will have the option of "Deauthorize All," and then you can start over.
By the way, the thing you are deauthorizing is the computer from that account, not the account itself. Accounts stay active forever, since if you purchased any "protected" tracks on that account, you will (forever) need to authorize any computer on which you wish to play them.

  • How many user accounts on one computer?

I did search but found nothing directly relevant. We have one laptop with one administrator account. How many user accounts besides mine am I allowed?
    Thanks in advance :o)

Ah good, 10 or less will work for sure then.
More than one account can be logged in at a time? How does that work?
In System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on Login Options, at the bottom enable Fast User Switching.
Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen maybe?
    Maybe the opposite!
If you have enough RAM & HD Free Space it allows others to use the Mac without you quitting all your work, and it keeps things separate. Great if you have young ones using it because you can make managed accounts & control which APPs they can use & other things... and without them destroying your data.

  • How Do I Decommission a Dead Computer

A family iMac died and now I need to decommission it so that I can commission a new laptop. Hpw may I decommission it?

    You can't de-authorize a 'dead' computer.
If you reached the limit of 5 authorizations, you can de-authorize all computers once a year:
About iTunes Music Store authorization and deauthorization
If you didn't reach that limit yet, you can request to de-authorize all computers using the form at the bottom of this page:

    Hope this helps.

  • How to de-authorized a dead computer.

    Hi there,
I have already authorized the maximum of 5 computers for Home Sharing, but 3 of those computers have since died and been sold for parts.  So obviously, they're not sharing anything anymore.  I don't know why I never thought to de-authorize them before we got rid of them, but now I'm stuck.  I just bought a new laptop, and I can't even share my own music with myself.  So how do I de-authorize those computers, if they don't even exist anymore?
I know there are other ways to transfer the music.  That is not what I'm asking, though.
    Thanks in advance.

De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
For more information on authorization and de-authorization: iTunes Store- Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC.
