How to deactivate automatic photoimport when connecting to memory card...?

Hi there,
I recently installed iPhoto 6. When I connect a memory card to my powerbook, iPhoto starts up and wants to import the files. I want to do this manually and don't want iPhoto to start automatically. How can I deactivate this?
Thanks for your help.
Michael

Hi Michael,
Using Image Capture to download images and video clips:
Open up Image Capture which is found in the Applications folder.
When it is opened, go to Image Capture/Preferences
Under the General button choose
Camera: When a camera is connected, open Image Capture.
The next time you connect your camera Image Capture will open.
In the window that opens you will see an Options button. Click on that button to set your options.
To find out more about Image Capture (it can do a lot more) Click on Help in the menu bar when Image Capture is open.
iPhoto: How to Change the "Open Automatically" Preference
If you find you can't change any of Image Captures preferences or can't access any drop down menus or they are greyed out, check to make sure Image Capture is loose in the Applications folder and not within a sub folder.

  • How NOT to start LR when inserting a memory card

Every time I stick a flashcard in my USB port, LR loads. I have checked "Do Nothing" in the auto import parameters *and* do not have "Enable Auto Import" checked, and yet .....
Anyone know how to disable this feature?
    Thanks - Chuck B

It could be that the hide inactive icons feature is hiding it. One of two options may be hiding it. The first is that it is inactive and you'd need to select the blue arrow to expand the icon tray in order to see it.
The second is that one of the hide inactive icons option is to never show an icon. To see if that is the case, Right-Mouse-Button on the start button, select properties, choose the Taskbar tab, and select the Customize button at the bottom beside the Hide Inactive selection.
You'll see the list of icons in the tray and the option in effect for each.

hiii   how can i see my sandisk memory card of my canon slr camera

Read the user manual that came with your camera or contact the vendor.  My camera asks me where I want my uploads to go to.  There is a setting in its option menu.  Desktop is the default upload feature that my camera has.
When I connect the memory card to a reader, the photos automatically upload to my desktop.

  • Autoimport when inserting a memory card

    Hi,
When inserting a memory card in the reader, the dialog that popped up used to give me the option to import using LR. But this option is gone now after updating from 2.4 to 2.5. In the LR preferences, the setting that enables automatic import when a card is inserted is turned on.
What's wrong? How to get the automatic import back?
    Windows XP.

The bug that caused LR to start importing every time a card was attached to the machine in LR 2.4 has now been fixed so this annoying behaviour has gone away.
If you want it back, then ensure that the "show import dialogue when memory card is detected" in the Import dialog of the Preference is selected and also ensure that the Windows OS setting for auto play for data cards is set to LR.

How to save photo from iPad to external memory card?

It's very difficult.  I have read where some people have done this with much angst.  You can use the camera connection kit to load pictures to your iPad.  The reverse is not really supported.  A much simpler solution would be to email the photo to your home email account and then copy it to external memory.

  • How to upload photos from computer to camera memory card?

I want to copy a few select photos and AVI files from the Organizer back to a new camera memory card.

A new message was posted by Colin Walls:
how to upload photos from computer to camera memory card:
Open Organizer. Then open Windows Explorer [My Computer] and navigate to the memory card "drive." Drag the images from Organizer to the memory card.
    Dear Colin Walls:
Thanks for your excellent tip. It works just as you said. The WHY I want to do this is:
when I want to print a lot of pictures, I take my memory card to Longs Drug store and use their "machine." Naturally, I want to have all the photos I need on the card.
A few days ago at Longs, I edited about 75 photos of a recent family reunion from my 512MB SD card taken with my Canon PowerShot A510. I ended up ordering 198 4x6 prints. My daughter had several good reunion photos on her digital camera. She e-mailed me seven photos as attachments, thus they were on my computer, but not on my memory card, until I started dragging as per the hint from Colin Walls.
Windows Explorer shows the file structure on the card as one DCIM folder, with subfolders 155 CANON, 156 CANON, 157 CANON, 158 CANON, and CANONMSC. I proceeded to drag each my daughter's seven photos from PS Elem. 4 Organizer to the folder 158 CANON, except that I dragged one to the folder CANONMS, by mistake.
The good news is that Longs machine and PS Elem. 4 both see ALL the photos on the card. The bad news is that my camera does not see the added photos, nor does the Canon ZoomBrowser 3.2 and 5.5 programs, nor the Picasa2 program.
    Thanks Colin. Gary Docherty

  • How to view hidden window file in a memory card?

I am connecting a memory card to a mac
But i cant view the hidden files in it
    It is a window file
    Can anyone help ?=)

Symbian^3 currently has no way of looking at stored messages in the memory card. If you would like to access them, load the memory card back to your old phone and sync them to your PC via Ovi suite where these messages can be read on the program. You can move these to the C6-01 via Ovi Suite should you desire to do so.

  • I have recently changed to an iMac from a Windows PC. How do I delete files and format the memory card in my helmet cam?

I have recently changed to an iMac from a Windows PC. How do I delete files and reformat the memory card in my helmetcam?

If you return the memory card to the helmetcam, it may choose to reformat it before use; back to some FAT-16 or FAT-32 format many of these third-party cards and cameras use. Unless you were going to use it for Mac OS X and format it with HFS+ or in a partition map for Mac data, etc.
If not, the easiest way to reformat the card may have been in the camera itself. I've formatted several kinds of camera cards, drives, USB flash drive, and others. The means varies with the intended purpose. Sometimes the default is the best; since it is platform neutral if the device is seen by both players.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do I recover deleted pictures from a memory card?

how do I recover deleted pictures from a memory card? The pictures got accidentally deleted and they are extrememly important and need them ASAP!!

You can use the Recycle Bin to Recover Deleted Pictures on Your Computer to solved the issue about how to recover deleted photos.
1 Open the Recycle Bin (found on your desktop or in the Start Menu) and check there for the deleted picture files.
2 Select the files or folders you want to recover.
3 Right-click and choose "Restore" from the menu. These actions will restore the files to their original location prior to deletion.
Or you can use Photo Recovery to do that.

    Hello!
How can I deactivate Kerberos for Network connections?

I am not sure why you would want to do that?
    The problem is as following:
When I connect to my iMac I type in my username and password and can access the sharepoints.
When I click on Disconnect it seems to disconnect but when I close the Finder window and open it again and click on my iMac icon I am connected although I clicked disconnect!
And I read on a German Mac Forum that this isn't a bug but a feature called Kerberos, so Kerberos is responsible for this.
And when I click disconnect I expect that the system is really disconnecting me and is not holding some kind of secret card in the background.
    Thank you

  • How does iPad store photos when connected to Windows?

I've recently upgraded to iPad2. A friend is interested in buying my original iPad 32gb because she loves iPhoto and would like to move her current 10 gb photo library into it. Uploading new photos from her camera to the iPad is easy with the card reader.  But how could she handle backup of photo files going forward since she works in the Windows world and her primary OS is Windows 7?
I know that when I upload pictures to the iPad in the field and then connect the iPad to my computer at home the Image Capture program asks me if I want to import the photos and where to put them.  Does a similar event take place when using Windows?

Yes - the windows camera wizard should open : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . Or they can be manually copied from the iPad as it will appear as a 'camera' in windows explorer (in a similar way to how a memory card in a card reader would).

  • Automatic import when connecting camera?

My PC is a Windows Home Premium 64 bit system. In one of the Adobe tutorials on importing, it sounded like Lightroom would automatically start the process when connecting a camera to a USB port. But that doesn't happen for me. I can import by starting Lightroom, clicking the import button, then selecting the camera device. Can Lightroom be configured to automatically start and select the camera device when the camera is plugged in?
