How to deactivate dead computer?

Hi All,
My desktop machine, a dual G5 tower, died (motherboard failed). A good time to finally upgrade to a Mac Pro, but now I'm having a problem re-activating my copy of Photoshop CS3 on this new machine. Since I could not de-activate on the dead machine, how do I free up an activation? (the other activation is for my laptop).
Many thanks in advance for any advice,
Chas

>Could Activation now be tied to both a particular HD AND a particular computer?
I don't know on a Mac, and I don't know if Adobe does it anyway, but that certainly is possible on a Windoze machine. My understanding is that it (the software security) reads and records some of the system config data when first initializing, and if it doesn't match up later. . .
I recently got to spend half a day on the phone with tech support for some of our software after we added a BlueRay drive to a machine. It turned out it WASN'T any sort of driver or software conflict, just the fact that it was there. They had to send me a reactivtion code (Windoze is SO fun!).

i cant find out how to deactivate a coumputer from my coumputer i have no idea what coumputer it is help me please

    J Sutliff,
It is not possible.  The only ways to deactivate a computer are (1) to access it directly and use the "Deauthorize this computer..." command, or (2)  wait until you reach the limit of 5 and then use the "Deauthorize all" command from any one of them.

You need to delete and redownload all of the applications associated with that Apple ID; it's stored inside them.

  • How to deactivate a computer in itunes when the computer was crashed/

My computer was crashe due to an electrical short, how can I deactivate it now without access to it?

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.
Deauthorising a computer won't remove any content form it, it just means that you won't be able to use any iTunes downloads on it until you reauthorise it.

I have 5 pc and labtops. Apple will not let me activate until I deactivate one or more...

    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • How to unauthorize dead computer

my computer hdd died. i have restored my computer and using a new install of itunes. how do i deauthorize the old setup on the same but new computer?

Take a look at this Apple support article; it may help:
One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations
If not, you can authorize a total of up to five systems, so unless you've hit that limit it's probably not really important that you reclaim that extra authorization at this time. If you really want to deauthorize, you can go into your iTunes Store account and there will be a "deauthorize all" button. You can then re-authorize the computers you're using now.
Note that you can only use the "deauthorize all" option once per year, unless something's changed very recently, so do this only if you really do need to recover that authorization.

  • How to deactivate on a computer that is dead

My computer died completely. I could not even start it up. I bought a new one and installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 from a .dmg file on had on a backup drive.
Now when I try to activate Elements I am told it is already activated on two computers and I must deactivate it from one of them before I can activate it on my new computer.
I do not know what other computer it is active on and I cannot deactivate it on the dead computer.
What I want to do is deactivate it on both other computers and activate it on my new one.

Yes, activation is tied to the hardware. The only folks who can straighten this out are Activation Support. Go here:
    Activation & Deactivation Help
and scroll down to "Still need help? Contact us," and work your way through the links there. Eventually you will be able to start a chat session and get it taken care of.

  • FAQ: How to deactivate an Adobe product, or My computer crashed, how do I install on a new one?

    What is Activation?
When you purchase an Adobe product, your license allows you to install on two computers. To enforce this limit (and prevent others from using what you have paid for), your serial number comes with two Activations. Activation happens when you launch the product for the first time (it does not happen during the installation process). Your Adobe product contacts the Adobe activation servers and lets us know that you are using the product on a specific computer (using an anonymous, unique machine code). If you'd like to move your product to a new computer, simply uninstall the application, which lets you deactivate it from the computer.
I have already installed on two computers, and one of them crashed, what do I do?
Often you will find yourself in a situation that a computer has crashed and you had an activated Adobe product on that system. Depending on how much you use the Adobe product, this could be a major issue. If you have crashed your first computer and have not yet installed on a second, then there is nothing to worry about, simply install and use the product as normal. Obviously you can't uninstall and deactivate the product on the dead computer. At this point, you will have to contact our customer service department to have your activations cleared up from the back-end servers. This should be a very quick, painless process to accomplish. Simply call: 1-800-642-3623

    Hello Don,
I think there may be a misunderstanding on your part. The CDs that you receive as part of Developer Suite do not actually contain "updates" to a previously installed version of LabVIEW; they are stand-alone installers. Every quarterly shipment of the Developer Suite CDs contains the full version of LabVIEW, along with the included toolkits and other National Instruments software.
In other words, if you have any set of Developer Suite CDs, you can start a new install of LabVIEW et al. immediately. You don't need any so-called "original" CDs.
    Good luck!

  • Deactivate CS6 from a Dead Computer

I have cs6 installed on a computer that the mother board died leaving the computer not able to start. I am not able to deactivate cs6 on the dead computer. How would I get this deactivated ??

I'm having the same problem. I had a laptop HD replaced and our IT guy managed to zap the entire drive in the process. It's taken a month restore all my apps. Luckily I'd backed up what little data was on the original drive. I use the laptop to work remote. I fought my way thru Autodesk subscription, Sketchup and their all the various plugin apps to get the system to match my workstations...then there's Adobe 'support'!
I use Production Premium CS6. After logging into my Adobe account I could get all my previous serial numbers except CS5, the one I'd need to activate CS6! I'd installed CS6 in 2012, using my upgrade based on my purchase of CS5 upgrade from CS4 and so on. I'm suspicious of that missing serial number, but I must be conspiracy theorist at heart.
On-line I found an adobe direct line that took me to an outsourced 'adobe rep' who was happy to help me. He connected to my laptop by remote and was glad to reactivate my CS6, however he told me that the CS5 serial number died with the old hard drive and that he'd be glad to reactivate for 599.00 USD! I then realized that I'd connected with a scam, not Adobe support!
Any real Adobe support for a CS products appears to have been dismantled, creating opportunities for scammers and I'm at wits end with trying to follow monster Adobe as it turns its back on its previous customers.
A chat line connection might be a saving grace for me...I don't find the link either!

  • How do I move iTunes from a dead computer?

My iTunes currently resides on a dead computer (hard drive failure). How do I move iTunes to my laptop PC (Vista) without losing all of my music/videos (on iPod) or apps (iPhone)?

Don't think you can get anything from your Dead computer.
Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the same music on your new PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music/videos, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:
