How to deal with "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". Seems to affect the
When starting FIREFOX 4.0, before actual appearance on screen a small error sign shows, apparently relating to a JavaScript problem, reading: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. So far I figured out that it affects the bar where the internet address is typed in; it does not work on 'enter' command but will do when the arrow on the right of the bar is engaged by cursor and left mouse click.
Hope you can understand what I mean, if not please do not hesitate to contact me.
In my case I found this to be associated with a third-party extension, disabling the extension disabled the functionality. Try running the browser in safe-modem turning off all extensions and defaulting the browser to initial install state, then enable each extension one at a time, starting with the firefox supported extensions until you find the culpritt

Not much to add. Before Firefox will open, I get this error message, "plug-in object: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined". I click the "OK" button; Firefox opens and I have no further problems.
I use an Apple with OS v. 10.6.7 and had no problems until I downloaded Firefox 4.0That indicates you have an add-on that is not compatible with Firefox 4. For details of how to troubleshoot that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

When loading Firefox or certain pages I get a message box appear with "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" if I hit "OK" the system continues. This has only happened since the recent security upgrade to Firefox. I have downloaded Firefox and reinstalled but the message persists.
This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I finished downloading Firefox 4.o to my Mac OS.X.
When I try to open a website I get the message:
[JavaScript Application] can't create mcafee plug-in object: TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined
If I click the OK button, the site opens, but without the McAfee alert at the bottom of the window.
I had just downloaded 3.6.16, and got box suggesting download version 4.0 for better security, but that seems to be where the problem is!That indicates that an add-on you are using is not compatible, considering the other errors it is possibly the McAfee add-on. To confirm what add-on is causing this use the procedure in this link - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

Only started since the upgrade. Windows Vista Home 32 bit.
The error message reads:
"TypeError:Components.classes[cid] is undefined."Try the suggested idea above. I just disabled all the add-ons which were not compatible with FF 5 and did a FF restart. That fixed the problem. I then enabled each one, one at a time, with a FF restart until the problem came back. I then disabled that add-on.

I tried to uninstall AVG antiviral software, but it did not uninstall. Next, when I try to open Firefox I get a box popup that says:
TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined.
If I click OK in that box, I can then open Firefox.
Also I can no longer update Java.
Help!Possibly you have "AVG Safe search" extension installed as part of "AVG Free", solution involves reinstalling :AVG Free" without the Link Scanner component see

I tried repeatedly to load Firefox 5. The Error "TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined" keeps coming up. The browser loads but any URL I enter doesn't load. Sites activated by buttons do load. Internet Explorer works.
07-05-11 When I turned on my laptop (Vista) this morning, I got a Start in Safe Mode and Repair message so I did. It suggested a System Restore, I hit OK. When it started like normal, I waited a few minutes then TRIED to launch Firefox 5.0 but kept getting a Mozilla Crash Report dialogue. So I instead opened Firefox 4.0b12 --error free-- so I could get here to get help. When I tried the Run... firefox.exe -profilemanager step, I get the subject error. When I try to open FF 5.0 in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key simultaneously, I get the subject error and no launch (though no Crash box either). I will try to let the FF 5.0 Updater run when it appears again but it never lets me choose when to Ask Again so I don't think it'll show again until tomorrow. Sigh. Oh, and like someone at a different version of this error blog re WinVista 32bit, now I'm getting the issue of Enter not executing the URL typed in the address bar; I had to click the arrow.
I hope the Update is to fix this problem. -

I am having to install Compatibility reporter so that Google toolbars will work. This used to be ok, but now I am getting the message-TypeError: Components.classes[cid] is undefined. I am running under Windows 7 any idea how |I can get round it please?
If you force an extension to install by overriding the compatibility then the result can be unpredicted.<br />
The extension may work or may not work or cause error messages like you posted.<br />
You always need to be careful with forcing extensions to install.
You may need to check extensions.checkCompatibility prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page.
