How to deathorize a computer for iTunes?

I've reached the limit of the number of computers (5) that I can authrorize to play iTunes and am trying to figure out how I can deathroize some of those. Several of the computers on my account are old ones that I don't even have anymore.

Use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article.

  • How to authorize a computer for ITUNES (non-mac)

i tried following the instructions however under 'store' there is no choice for 'authorizing computer'
furthermore when i go into account information it is telling me that 3 computers are authorized to play content purchased with this Apple ID- why is everywhere else i see that it says 5 computers?
i bought a new HP, installed ITUNES, plugged in my IPOD and it transfer the music over but it won't play it since it is saying the computer is not authorized, following Apple's own instructions on the support site I can't find where I can authorize the new computer at...

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

  • HT1420 How do I authorise my computer for iTunes when there is no "authorize this computer" or Advanced menu ?  When Apple say Store menu do they mean from the top of the store when logged in ?

Where is the iTunes Store menu that has Authorize this Computer located and/or Advanced menu ? How do I authorise my computer for iTunes if I cannot find Authorize this Computer or Advanced menu ?  Thank you.

It's done via the Store drop-down menu at the top of iTunes - if you are using iTunes 11 on a PC then pressing Alt-S should get the Store menu to appear e.g. (screenshot is from a Mac, but it should be similar on a PC) :

  • I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?

I have a new computer and I want to make it my home device for I tunes. I have home sharing, and all of the music and files are on the new computer. Now what do I do to make the new computer the home computer for Itunes?

The computer (windows platform) where I initially began using Itunes has four other computers/devices that are shared with it. All four of the other computers show up in my account, and can be managed. Or I can remove them. But on the new computer that I want to be my base computer (home if you will). The computer I want it to replace, when ITunes is open, has a tool bar, with various functions. All of the other devices are linked to that computer in ITunes, under Home SHaring. The new computer, shows the downloads via Home Sharing, but it does not show/have any tool bar.
I want to activate the new computer to be the computer via ITunes where all of the devices are linked to it as the base for ITunes. And, I don't know how to make that happen.
    I hope that makes sense.

  • Unable to authorize This Computer for iTunes

About 8 months ago I installed iTunes on one of my desktops (Windows) and setup the store access and actually purchased the OS update for my iTouch. Yesterday I purchased an iPad for my wife and started to set it up on her laptop. I've installed iTunes 9.1 and attempted to "Authorize This Computer" for iTunes purchases, I also attempted to do this on my laptop (both are running Win7 x64). Per the iTunes screen an email was sent to my account but I never receive it. Prior to the attempt to authorize the two computers from my wife's laptop I issued a request to reset my password. This email I received and reset the password. I then received a confirmation email that the password was reset.
Why cannot I receive the emails to authorize my two laptops?

In the iTunes window click on Store > Authorize This Computer
In the "Authorize This Computer" I enter my email and password, click on the "Authorize" button.
A new window pops up title "You have not verified your account", Click OK to review the instructions on how to verify your account.
I click on the OK button and then the iTunes main window informs me that an email as been sent to my account and it displays my email address.
I never receive the email and I have zero idea what to do at this point.
The link you provided is about "Authorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can play music, videos, audiobooks, or other content purchased from the iTunes Store" - This sounds like what I want to do but I cannot authorize either my computer or my wife's computer. At this point nether of us have or can purchase anything using my iTunes account.
At this point I'm totally confused and upset and very close to returning the **** iPad. I thought this was going to be a simple process but it is turning into a can of worms.
What I'm attempting to do is have one iTunes store account where either myself or my wife can purchase.

  • I have just bought the new mac and can't set it up as my main computer for iTunes

I have just bought the new mac and have synced it with my ipod but the ipod is not the primary computoer for itunes.
My old computer is the primary one
I have synced my ipad but the apps did not transfer to my mac
    any help would be appreciated
    thx

You have me confused as to where the apps really are. You mention iPod and mention that the iPod isn't your primary computer. Obviously, it can't be - its an iPod. I'm not trying to be a jerk - I just dont understand what that means.
The you say that the old computer is the primary computer for iTunes. That makes more sense. Anyway, you could have transferred the iTunes library from the old computer to the new Mac, but I assume that you did not realize that.
So ... If the apps are on your iPad - but did not transfer to iTunes when you synced the iPad with the new Mac - transfer Purchases. Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left and select Transfer Purchases. That will put the apps in iTunes on the Mac.
Movies cannot be downloaded again for free because Apple does not have an agreement with the movie studios to allow for that. At least that is how I understand the way that works.

  • How import pictures from Computer To itunes??

How import pictures from Computer To itunes??

I'd like to add some personal photos to my iTunes account, library...WHATEVER!...so that I can attempt to use them as screensaver pics for my Apple TV component. Screensaver takes to the screen while playing music from my iTunes library that displays on the TV screen. Understandable....but if I can transfer some of my personal photos into my iTunes library/account...whatever...I'm sure there's a way to use them on my screensaver, rather than looking at friggin' ducks, fish, and trees, etc. seems like a simple and obvious concept to me! How do I do it?

  • How long does it takes for iTunes to restore software on a 5s?

How long does it takes for iTunes to restore software in a iPhone?

There are three major portions involved in a restore:
    1.  Downloading the latest copy of iOS to your Mac for installation on the iPhone.
    2.  Installing the software from your Mac onto the iPhone.
    3.  Restoring all the contents of your iPhone (except iOS, which was done in the above step).
Step 1 will depend on your Mac's download speed.  We are talking about downloading more than 1GB.
Step 2 should take about 10 minutes or less.
Step 3 will depend on how much personal stuff (e.g., apps, photos, music) you had on your iPhone.  It might take minutes, or an hour or more.
