How to deauthorise DEAD LAPTOP? :(((

Hi everyone,
My laptop has given up completely last night and we tried to save it but didn't succeed so now it is dead.
It happened very unexpectedly, I haven't even had time to save my data (we removed the harddrive and just saving whats left over it) so therefore I haven't had a chance to deauthorise my laptop as my primary iTunes source for my iPhone.
How can I deauthorise it and add a new laptop?
I don't even want to think about what happened with my previous iPhone backups stored on the dead laptop's harddrive :((((

Hi Andrea,
iTunes will let you authorize up to 5 computers to playback your music and videos that you have purchased from the iTunes store, so if you have not yet authorized that many, you should be OK once you get things up and running again.

You need to contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues. They have the ability to deactivate the lost installation.

Transfer data from hard drive on a dead laptop

I have a dead laptop that contains a hdd2183 y hard drive that appears to be a non-standard connector. It is not IDE nor is it SATA. The drive has a FEMALE receptacle instead of male pins or blades. The CONNECTOR that attaches to the drive has a male blade that inserts into the hard drive receptacle. I can't find anything on the internet about any such configuration, and I need to get the data off this drive, but no way that I can find to turn it into an external drive. I COULD take the connector out of the laptop and MAKE a cable or convert it to either SATA or IDE, IF I knew which contact was supposed to go to which pin on the corresponding connector.
Anybody know anything about this? None of the standard enclosures or conversion devices fit this drive.

Hi,
I think the non-standard connector you describe can be removed.
Remove the HDD from its metal casing as shown in the image below.
Once done, you should find the connector can be removed from the HDD by sliding it off as shown in the lower diagram ( it may take some gentle persuasion ).

I was able to find these instructions, however they referr to 2009-2011 27" iMacs. I think it's the same, if it's not then contact Apple directly for instructions. If either of the machines is less than 90 days old or covered by AppleCare then call AppleCare tomorrow for help, they should be able to easily answer this for you. You will find the number in your manual or you can use the AppleCare Contact Info link.
Your iMac should automatically recognize the presence of a digital video signal at the Mini DisplayPort and enter Target Display Mode.
If your iMac does not automatically enter Target Display Mode, press command + F2 to manually enter Target Display Mode.

My profile folder for the older version of firefox is empty, and I don't find APPDATA or any .json files even when files are unhidden. Next, open the drive letter corresponding to the external HD (usually it would be listed after your current drives i.e. if your laptop has C and D drives, the attached external HD would start at E), browse to '''E:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles''', open the folder inside, copy the '''places.sqlite''' into your current Firefox profile folder opened earlier via Firefox, and start Firefox.

Dead laptop - new itunes

I killed my laptop and had to buy a new one - so itunes on the new one is empty and my phone is full of music and photos that the new itunes wants to wipe. How do I get the music and photos apps etc from my phone onto the new itunes ? Or can I rescue the old itunes somehow ( not from the laptop - its properly dead)

Depending how far you want to go to preserve everything.
The keep everything and spend a bit of money way:
Depending on the type of HDD you have you can get a connector that plugs directly into the HDD and the other end plugs into a USB slot. The computer will recognise it as a normal drive then you just copy all the iTunes stuff back to your main computer.
Or alternatively you could use what you have on your backup drive and copy that to the main iTunes folder.
