How to deauthorize when computer crashes?

My computer has crashed 5 times now, and when I reinstall iTunes it tells me that I can't play any of the almost 2,000 songs that I've downloaded because this computer is not authorized; that I need to 'deauthorize' other computers. Well all authorizations were on THIS one. How do I go about that?

Deauthorize it from the Store menu even though the computer's not authorized. If that doesn't work, click here for information.

I need to deauthorize a crashed laptop that is no longer usable. I can only find how to deauthorize "this" computer. Can anyone help?

You need to use the Deauthorize All function. Remote individual deauthorization of a crashed computer isn't possible, and remote deauthorization of a working computer requires VNC access to it.

how to deauthorize a computer that is not with me anymore?

If you log into your account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes then on your account's screen (under the 'Apple ID Summary' heading) there should be a 'Computer Authorisations' line with a 'Deauthorise All' button to the right of it - you can only 'deauthorise all' once every 12 months.

When computer crash or broken and need to re install or change with new one, are the purchase items we bought before are free to download or have to pay again? Kindly share your experience

Should all show up as "downloads" in Purchases if you use the same Apple ID.
If you have any trouble, contact the App Store support folks - http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/.

  • Lost videos in iPhoto during transfer when computer crashed??

I was transferring videos from my iphone 4s to my Powerbook G4 and by default it transfers to my iPhoto account. A prompt came up that the photos (and videos) were transferred sucessfully and asked me if I wanted to keep or delete the photos from my phone. I chose to delete the photos from my phone to make room. In the process of deleting the data from my phone, the computer crashed. When I opened iphoto again the vidoes and pictures that I thought were successfully transfered were no longer there. Please tell me that there is a way to recover this imformation, because it is no longer showing up on my phone and I've checked the trash in iPhoto and on my Mac and nothing is there. I've searched and searched iPhoto and it's definitely not there. This was footage just recorded and no backup on the phone or the computer was recently backed up. Please help.

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when iPhoto opens?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is you library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Lost work on pages when computer crashed...any way to retrieve data

My granddaughter had spent three days on a written report on PAGES. She was doing other things on the computer, probably listening to music, which made her computer crash. When the computer was restarted we could not find her report. I need help! She is very upset! Can someone please make me a hero?

    Hi,
If the machine's linked to iCloud, the document could possibly have saved it itself to iCloud prior to the machine crashing, although I cannot guarantee this as I'm not entirely sure if Pages for Mac implements this feature, however on iOS devices it automatically saves whilst you work.
Head over to iCloud.com and sign in to see if there's anything there under the Pages app.
Good Luck! Let me know how it goes.

  • Lost some customizations when computer crash

I was right in the middle of work in LR 4.1 and my computer crashed. There was a problem with my video card all of a sudden.
I got that resolved and when I went back into LR, catalog opened fine but SOME of my customizations were gone.
All the user defined presets I had imported were gone.
The customized Name I had put in for my Lightroom interface was gone.
My user defined folders were all gone.
All my publishing plugins were there and working, but I had to reinitialize them with the service.
But all photos were there and histories and import settings, etc . . .  They were all fine.
I can eaisly re-build what I need. In fact, it cleaned things up a bit so I can do things a bit differenly. (Tagging is such a beautiful thing)
At first I thought it was a right side/left side thing.  It seems like most of the things effected were in the left panel.  But then I started noticing a few things in the right panel. Nothing as big.  The most notible so far is I always had cropping set to maintain original aspect ratio and I found this was turned off.  And then I saw all the information I had set to display on the picture previews was missing . . . . .
I KNOW it's the same catalog file.  What happened? The biggest pain will be re-importing my user presets . . . . but I'm dealing with it. It just had to happen in the middle of a big project.

    Welcome to the discussions,
if you have a backup of you 3G before you lost the contacts, you could restore from that one. But as every backup replaces the old one, it has to be an iphone backup included in your computer backup routine.
You iphone backup folder is located here:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • HT1420 how to deauthorize a computer that is not working

I have a few computers on my acct that are no longer working. I can't turn them on to deauthorize them. Is there a way that I can do this from my current computer?

    Yes.
For computers: You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.
It is also possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."

  • Recovering purchased music when computer crashes

My friends computer has crashed and she lost all of her downloaded music. This made me think about the music I have purchased through the iTunes music store... If my computer crashes and I lose my downloads, is there a way to recover the music I have purchased? Is there a record of my purchases and can I get them again without repurchasing them?

Store policy states that downloads are a one time deal & it's the user's responsibility to backup important files. The store will even send you a reminder to backup your files after every 10-15 downloads. I would strongly suggest that you begin a regular backup program for your music by burning data CD/DVD's or using an external HD. Do not count on the store to allow you to re-download, in case of a disaster, backing up, now, will save you a lot of grief if disaster strikes.

  • How to deauthorize a computer , that doesn't exist anymore?

I unisnstalled windows , and for some reason when i inserted my ipod to the freshly installed windows+itunes , and logged on my account , iTunes said , that its a new computer and asked me to authorize it , and so i did.
My question is: how can i deauthorize my old version of windows , that doesn't exist anymore?
I also have another question in this topic : When i want to buy items from itunes from a new device , it asks for my bank card number , and takes 1-2 dollars from it. Is this ok?

Take a look at this Apple support article; it may help:
One computer using multiple iTunes Store authorizations
When i want to buy items from itunes from a new device , it asks for my bank card number , and takes 1-2 dollars from it. Is this ok?
I'm not sure what you mean by this. What "items"? If you are referring to music, videos or movies, you get only one download per purchase, so if you buy the items again, whether from another device or the same one, yes, you will be charged again. Only apps allow redownloading without additional charge.
    Regards.

  • How to deauthorize failed computer

I have authorized four of my possible five computers in Itunes.  I've only ever used one at a time, but the previous three computers have suffered catastrophiic failures and were trashed.  My question is how I can deauthorized the old computers so Itunes no longer counts them against me.  Also, what happens if my kids keep ruining more computers and I get to computer number six on my account?

"My question is how I can deauthorized the old computers so Itunes no longer counts them against me."
    You cannot.
" Also, what happens if my kids keep ruining more computers and I get to computer number six on my account?"
When you reach 5, then deauthorize all, then authorize the actiuve computers.

  • How to deauthorize my computer if i dont have access to it and i already deauthroized all 5 computers 8 months ago. I need Help

I deauthroized all 5 computers 8 months ago. And over the course of those months, i have been on many computers at work and authorized my computers. However, i have relocated and can no longer deauthorize those computers.
    I need help.

    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
