How to debug flash player crashes?

Hello there
I'm building this game with flash...when I test and debug my
project from flash it works fine but when playing the game in a
browser, it crashes very often...after a couple seconds/minutes of
play. I installed the latest flash player and tried on a couple
computers with no luck...so how can I know what's crashing? or how
can I have more info on why it crashes? what kind of debug tool can
I use when flash player crashes within the browser. it's really
hard to know what the problem is.
Thanks for the answers if any :)
Marco

Browser crashes caused by the Flash Player is the stuff of
nightmares, it's nearly impossible to debug. In fact, I think
kglads advice about flashtracer is the best news I've seen on the
subject (I didn't know about flashtracer -- thanks kglad).
What player build do you have in IE? What is it in FireFox?
You can check the exact build here:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/
Can you provide a link to the crashing SWF? Does it crash
both IE and FF?

  • How can I make an ant file that launches an AS project app in a debug flash player that traces to the flex console?

How can I make an ant file that launches an AS project app in a debug flash player that traces to the flex console?
Basically I like the control over the compiling process that I get by using Ant - but I really want traces to come up immediately without having to switch contexts.
I have an ant file that successfully launches a swf in the flashplayer - but I don't know how to make the flex console start displaying the trace output. I assume that I will have to point it to the appropriate trace output file - but I am not sure how to have ant even address the console.  Is this possible?
Here is the the target node from my ANT file:
        <target name="launch">
            <exec executable="${FLASHPLAYER_EXE}" errorproperty="trace.output">
                <arg line="'${DEPLOY_DIR}\test.swf'" />
            </exec>
        </target>
Thanks for any thoughts, or alternatives!

For the record, I ended up using Logwatcher - it worked perfectly.

  • Flash player crashes when I launch swf in debug mode

Not sure whether this is a bug on the player side or flash builder side, but when I export and debug the flash player crashes.  This means I cant trace and debug.
Please help.  Can I trace without using debug mode?

The web site I was trying to open was http://www.jaylenosgarage.com  The add was for Sprint phone service about half way down the page, on the right.  I was using this site as a test site. It allso didn"t work on the Adobe site. The page was the one you receive after you finish installing the upgrade.

  • Pluggin container makes flash player crash. all is up to date. How to avoid this?

    Question
pluggin container makes flash player crash. all is up to date. How to avoid this?

First, download and run the Flash uninstaller: [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html] . You probably want the 64-bit version. After that has run, restart your computer, and then let's download a fresh version of Flash. Try downloading and installing it from [http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/licensing/win/install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe here].
Once you have flash installed again, start Firefox up, and see if you are getting any errors. If it works, awesome, if not, let's move on.
Start Firefox up in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode ]] (don't select any of the checkboxes that appear). If Flash works here, then it is one of your addons which is causing a problem.
If we are still having a problem, try [[Updating your graphics driver|Updating your graphics driver]] .
If none of these work, read [[Troubleshooting plugins|Troubleshooting plugins]] and let me know!

  • How to fix flash player contiually crashing?

Windows 7 32 bit, Intel 2.53Ghz cpu, 2Gb memory, machine is clean, no malware or unnecessary junk.
Install flash player successfully everything looks good, but at any website that requires flash player, it either freezes or crashes. This happens repeatedly to the point where I delete the player in disgust...until the next time a web site refuses to function without it, so I install a new (and most recent) version, and the same thing happens again. And again. And again!!!
I read in the questions that this is a common issue with many many users, so just exactly what is wrong? Why can't Adobe make a flash player that works properly? I don't have any unusual, out of the ordinary machine , just a standard garden-variety Intel Windows machine. Flash player should work, but doesn't. This is getting extremely irritating and frustrating, I'm greatly tempted to abandon all Adobe products for good, and make do without using this blasted infernal Flash Player.
FWIW I am not a noob, I've been using and maintaining PCs since Windows 3.1 so please don't take the route of "user error" with me.
Whether I choose to "continue" or "stop" this message pops up again every few moments, and this continues until finally
the Flash Player crashes... which doesn't really matter at that point because the thing has been no use at all up until then.
If anyone has a solution please email it to me: I don't have the time or patience to keep checking back simply to see if anyone
responded.  I've wasted enough time on similar sites where questions go unanswered for months, or in some cases years,
and by the number of questions on this same issue, I suspect there is no solution -- unless perhaps somebody finds an alternative to using Adobe flash Player, a solution for which I sincerely hope!

I tried uninstall and re install both Flash Player and Chrome it self but nothing changed.
I also noticed that when i try to download something on chrome (this is the browser i use for everything), for example a movie trailer from Apple's trailer site (for example this movie trailer iTunes Movie Trailers) i right click and press Save As, it does nothing after that and after let's say some seconds the window pops up asking me where to save it, and i save it. That means that when i press "Save As" it does starts downloading in the background (like the first post in this thread states) and only wneh it finishes downloading the Chrome pop up window appear. When it should pop immediatelly asking me where to save it the moment i right click something and press Save As. At least that what i used to do before THIS whole problem started......
    Any thoughts...??????
    Please i am desperate......

  • How do I report a Flash Player crash to Adobe?

One of the most frustrating things that can happen when using software are crashes.  We understand that and we're constantly working on fixing them when we receive reports.  If you've run into a crash and would like to help, please see the following page that describes in detail what we need and where to report it:

  • Flash Player Crashes In All Web Browsers

    Dear Adobe,
For months now when ever I visit a site that uses flash, wever it be in Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 9 or Mozilla Firefox. Within about 5 minutes the page I am on will crash and report to me that, the flash plugin / player has crashed. It does this without fail, every time I go online. I mostly play zynga games on facebook. I also use fullscreen whenever possible, and always using the latest version of flash thanks to the cool flash updater.
I have just today checked and updated to the latest nvidia graphics drivers with a clean installation.
I followed advice about disabling hardware acceleration and going through the steps for uninstalling Flash, and emptying the folders associated with it. Sadly though the problem still remains.
I would love for this long time problem to be resolved!
My system is Windows 7 64-Bit, with an Nvidia Geforce 7600gs.
    Please find dxdiag results.

Hi Mikey - Sorry you're running into these crashes.  It's odd that this is occurring with all browsers and Flash content.  There must be something specific about your system that is causing this to happen.  We'd like to investigate further.  Would you be willing to create a new bug report and attach both your dxdiag report and any crash dumps that you can generate?  Please see this FAQ for additional details and steps.

    Thanks,

Hey Chris, I'm having a similar problem as Gambit was having with flash. My screen locks up, no lights on mouse, keyboard nada. So then I have to hit the reset
button (mine does work unlike Gambit's did), but I am unable to obtain a crash report. When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application
    Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\Pending  there is no pending folder...the only thing I've found is this (InstallTime20120215223356). I don't think
    thats what you need.

I'm currently at my wits end here....I've read through several reports on here & have tried uninstalling and re-installing ...I have active x version 11.1.102.55 & Plug in version 11.1.102.63
The sites the normaly occurs on is typicaly any flash game period...Have yet to try it on any videos as of yet . yes I've disabled hardware acceleration. all drivers are up to date...aside from MB bios.....I've already sunk a grand into this comp and I don't want to have to pay even more money on a possibble fix as in the sound card as with what Gambit said was the fix for him/her. If I had a spare I would try it but I don't.

  • Flash Player Crashing every time it is opened

About a week ago I decided to remove the trial version of PSE from my computer. The trial period was over and to be honest I like Gimp much, much better (even more so now given all the problems I have encountered this past week.) I had a very difficult time getting PSE removed from my computer; even running my system as an administrator with full permissions granted, I kept getting the message that I did not have permission to change this file, it required an administrator. WTF big time! I contacted tech support to find out why I was having this problem, but unfortunately poor Gilligan was so lost all he could do was imply that I must be lying. Yes, that actually happened folks. I asked to be connected to a higher level and was supplied with a dead link. I finally got this Adobe crapware off my computer using brute force-yes Virginia, I did try using uninstall utilities of several flavors. There was no uninstall feature with the PSE software which led Gilligan to tell me I did not know what I was doing or talking about; I don't work for Adobe so I do know a little bit about what I am doing, sorry Gilligan. In cleaning the registery I was shocked to see what Adobe had placed in my system and even more shocked to see where it had been placed; why does Adobe feel the need to hide data miners in their crapware?
Since this issue with PSE, Flash Player has completely stopped functioning; prior to this everything functioned flawlessly. However, now every time I encounter flash content on a web page I am greeted by that familiar greyed out message, "Adobe Flash Player has crashed, send an error reort." I am not exagerating when I say that I have submitted well in excess of 100 error reports just in the past day alone. I have uninstalled and reinstaled new copies of Flash Player several times now, the latest version, 11 I think it was, as well as some of the archived older versions; after every install I have been directed to an Adobe web page telling me that Flash has been properly installed. My drivers are up to date on EVERYTHING, I utilize a utility that checks for updates regularly. I am running Windows 7 in a 64 bit environment (and yes I know for a fact that it is 64bit as I installed the 64 bit OS, and have verified it.) Using the latest version of IE, 9.0.8112.16421 (both 32 and 64 bit versions), when Flash Player crashes so does IE, every time. I open a web page containing flash content and poof, adobe error message followed by the IE error message, "something has caused IE to stop working properly." Using the most current version of FF, 8.0.1, this happens about 50% of the time and wipes my RAM completely clean clean when it crashes. I have removed everything branded as Adobe from my computer, and attempted starting from scratch. The only option I know of that is left is to wipe the drive clean and reinstall everything from scratch (yes Gilligan, that really is the only thing that has yet to be tried that I personally know of.)
So do I just give up and resign myself to never again see an online video until web developers realize just how crappy Adobe software has become and cleanse the web of flash and all things Adobe?? Or is there by some slim chance someone out there that has found a work around? What would really be nice is to have an alternative to Adobe Flash; I guess this shows why monopolies are a very bad thing as it allows for this sort of crap (trust me, I want to say so much worse right now, I really have come to despise Adobe) to go unchecked as long as they can turn a profit. So, any suggestions????

I dont know what's happening, Abode crashes all the time. I installed the latest version of Java, Mozilla, all updates on windows XP. Ca you help me?

  • Flash player crashes 100% of the time

Over the past several weeks, Adobe Flash Player crashes 100% of the time.  How can this be fixed?
I also have a problem with the AMD graphics driver and the catalyst manager.
Also, the g, h, 4, and / keys only work about half the time.
Are these problems all tied together?

Turns out, there were crumbs of an old DW (cs1) still hiding out.  With the newer UNINSTALL option, there is no more drag-app-to-trash (which caused the conflict).  I used the adobe clean script to reinstall fresh, and all is good.

  • Constant Flash Player crash

Flash Player spends more time crashed than running on my Firefox/Windows 7 PC.  It has been suggesetd that I uninstall and reinstall it.  Also the irritating little pop up asking to use space on my drive is now not responding.  Any help resolving these issues will be appreciated.  Some brief pointers as to how to effectively uninstall might be helpful though I have uninstalled programs in the past. . .Some just refuse to leave.
    Thanks

I'd recommend trying the steps outlined in this FAQ:

  • Issues with Flash player Crashing

I keep getting a gray exclamation mark on things that run a Flash player. I never go over my RAM memory and after I get the gray exclamation mark it asks me to update my flash player. Even when I do so it say I have the most update Flash player. i have to close all my window and went 2 minute than reopen before it will work again
    PLEASE HELP!!!!

Can you try a browser other than IE10 to see if this still occurs?  Given that IE10 is still not generally available to the public, I'm not sure how much testing it's getting at this point.
Regardless, this is something we'd want to address.  Please open a new bug report on this issue over at bugbase.adobe.com. The following FAQ will walk you through the information we'll need and instructions for generating a crash log (if applicable):

  • Flash Player Crashes everywhere

    I'm using windows 7 64-bit
    flash player 10.1 (latest version)
I've tried on Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome
I'm trying to load video streams on websites such as ustream.tv and justin.tv but flash crashes immediately
I'm not sure how new this flash player is because it was working fine on my computer before i reinstalled windows a week ago
I have all the latest drivers for my computer, I've tried enough random solutions and decided to come here see if any adobe pros know what the hell is going on, this is incredibley frustrating.

Maybe you had an older version of Flash Player before?
The newest version supports Hardware Acceleration for many more graphic cards than before, but not all the drivers do support it.  It is also important that you do have the latest available device drivers installed (from the manufacturer, not Microsoft Update).
