How to decide implementation way for share point site ?

Hi,
I am developing new share point site where i want to manage more hierarchical data with its own business requirements and flows.
lets assume following scenario 
there are multiple companies at very top level
Every company contains multiple departments
and every department have multiple groups (group of working people)
 I want to manage communication between each group within each company, and no two group from two diff companies should interact with each other.
For this implement what will be the better approach for site design ?  and how can i implement such a hierarchical structure ?
As i am new to share point , any help will be appreciable.

Create a separate site collection for each company.  For every department you can have a sub site. You can create groups within the sub site.
Once you separate the each company details in a separate site collection you will have more control over the security.

    I'm working on a server with Microsoft Server 2012 R2, trying to install Appfabric because it is a prerequisite for Share Point.  In the results of the Appfabric installation wizard, all of the selected components, Hosting Services, Cache Client, and

  • How to set Compatibility Mode for a single site in ie10

    I am having problem with getting ie10 to set ie9 compatibility for a single site (sharepoint.contoso.com).
    When I add this website in Compatibility View Settings (Alt > Tools > Compatibility View Settings > 'Add this Website') it adds the domain 'contoso.com' and not the individual website (sharepoint.contoso.com).
    This cause other sites (www.contoso.com) to be configured to use compatibility mode. Because this is a separate site (different web server) to the site sharepoint.contoso.com (sharepoint 2010 server) we need different compatibility settings.
    Using a different example to explain the issue -
    Microsoft has three websites that are different websites created by different developers written in different programming languages and they only work with certain browsers.
    microsoft.com (Website1 created by Developer1) - compatible with ie8/ie9/ie10
    msdn.microsoft.com (Website2 created by Developer2) - compatible with ie8/ie9
    technet.microsoft.com (Website3 website created by Developer3) - compatible only with ie10
    The only thing the three website share is the URL contains 'microsoft.com'.
    Marking 'msdn.microsoft.com' to run in compatibility mode affects the other 2 websites - mainly technet.microsoft.com which will not work now since it only runs in pure ie10 mode. 
    Should you be able to add an individual site to the compatibility list instead of all sites that have  .microsoft.com in the URL? Am I missing a simple setting in the ie10?
    As a workaround I am using the F12 Developer Tools to set the Browser Mode which temporary sets the compatibility mode. However this is not a nice solution to the end users at our organisation.

    Oh! I wrote it wrong: I should have said: This is not solved for NON-AD environments. No demands what so ever to use Window 7/8 professional in a small corporation or on a big corporation with Island of smaller departments for example offshore.
    The problem is that the thread is not "Answered" by the OP, its is marked answered by a moderator (and same moderator that did the answer) so no way of telling if the OP is satisfied.
    But you are right in the fact that I am almost kidnapping the thread. But a complete answer would benefit all in this case I would presume.

    open a SharePoint management shell and type this

    then open in notepad and paste to this blog, it will probably give more info that the group can use to help with resolving this issue.

    You can't step through a SharePoint Designer Workflow.  The normal workaround is to Log messages to the History list with the values you want to look at where you would normally put breakpoints.  Then run the workflow and examine the history
    list to see how the values changed as you went through your workflow.

  • Formula for Share Point

    Hi guys,
    I have 2 problems with the Formulas and calculations in Share Point.
    1. I want to calculate time, that has been used for work on a location, if I use the preconfigured date/time calculation and use the formula: End Time - Start Time, the hours are ok, but the date is always 31.12.1899, and dont get it why.
    Now I have used the formula =TEXT(([End Time] - [Start Time]); "hh:mm"), the time is calculated and displayed ok, but if I do it for more than 24 hours, then those 24 hours are not included in the result. Can some help me with that?
    I have tried many other formulas, but there is always a sintax error:
    =CONCATENATE(IF(INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)>1,INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)&" hours",IF(INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)=1,INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)&" hour","")),IF(MINUTE([End Time]-[Start

    I have tried that formula above, and translate it to german (I thought that could be the problem) because we use a german Share Point version. But not in german not in the englisch one works. I always get "syntax" error and thats it.

    2. I to have the Weeks Numbers to be seen in the tasks overview. So when I put in the starting date, the Week number in the year should be displayed.
    I used the following code, but it hasn't work at all:

    But it also comes the syntax error message.

    I assume the column of start date is named by c1 and the column of end date is named by c2. Please see the following formulas:

    Hello. Store the logo somewhere accessible, either in a library at the PWA site collection or on the project site, make a note of the URL to the site then navigate to the project site and depending on what logo you want to update you can click Site Actions
    > Site Settings > title and description then update the image URL there. Alternatively, on the homepage of the project site add an image web part then reference the new logo using the URL. Paul

  • How to update 'Primary_Per_Type' flag for a Party Site Use?

    We have few party sites flagged as Primary Bill To and Primary Ship To. We want to change this flag for these party sites and flag some other sites at Primary Bill to and Primary Ship To party sites. This is required for correct defaulting of the Bill To and Ship To in iStore (R 12.0.4).
    iStore users are not allowed to change bill to addresses and hence the orders placed are having wrong bill to address. Besides, 'Profile' link has been removed for all iStore users and Primary User functionality is also not implemented.
    I tried using 'Oracle Customers Online Super User' responsibility but it does not show Primary checkbox for Address Purpose.

    Hi Vishwas,
    As soon as you mark one site as primary for some usage say "BILL TO" then the other site gets de-marked. So the basic thing which you need to do is mark the new site as the primary "BILL TO" and the unchecking will be taken care of.
    Now the thing is that whether you have already created the new site and now trying to mark the site use as primary or you are yet to create it. If you are yet to create it then i think the primary flag might be exposed. Otherwise you will have to personalize the page to expose it. In the former case also you will have to personalize the page to expose the primary flag.
    The other option which you have is to use the TCA APIs to do so from PL/SQL.

  • How would I implement a FOR loop in real time?

    I am using a cRIO and would like to have several processes running in parallel.  A main functin will have a loop in it which will count up and an certain time intervals pass data to a parallel process.  I am not sure how LV will check the current time value and determine if it is time to send the parallel process information (it will send the parallel process a command to start at time X and stop at time Y).  I see the code in C as:

    Why don't you use "Elapsed time.vi" ? Compare it with the time you require. Also you can use register event function to let the other process know a certain condition has occurred.

    whenever we delete a content , It never went into Workflow.
    I want when user delete any content, It should go into workflow. When approver approves it, only then content item should actually deleted. If approver rejects it, content item should not get deleted.

    Several things jump out about how you may be using delete.
    First is that delete rights are set up as separate and distinct from Read and Write (contribute) rights. This is true even for content authors.
    There is good reasoning behind this. Basically, because deleting items has special and often regulated meaning, giving users delete permission should be a very intentional action and never a default.
    Second, using the "expiry" functionality is a much better and safer option in most cases. Expiring a piece of content removes it from visibility to all except the sysadmin. Expiring content effectively "soft deletes" the item from the user experience while allowing the administrators to still recover the item if necessary. Another advantage of expiring content rather than deleting it is that as the content approaches the expiry date or as an expiry action is triggered, this can automatically trigger actions like a workflow review, email notification, BPEL service call etc. This gives you advance warning as well as the ability to intercept, review, and sign off on the action. You can also run batch jobs to archive and store or archive / delete "expired" items if you determine that you still need to do this.
    Finally, if you have considered the above options and still determine that you need to capture "delete requests" then the best option is to write a custom component that intercepts the delete service request and triggers a workflow, notification, expiry or other action.
    Remember that when you delete an item you must consider whether or not you are deleting just the latest released revision or all revisions or some selection of revisions. OOTB, UCM allows those with delete permissions to delete revisions one at a time. The repository manager applets provide admins with a bit more batching flexibility.

    In SBWP - create a distrubution list.  You'll need to put it in a folder.  Then uder the content you can specify an internet address to send the e-mail to.
    Execute SM36 to set up your background job.  I usually just use the wizard.  The program name is RSWINTRO.
    For spool list recipients select a distrubution list that you have created.
