How to deconfigure the windows configuration with the portals

There is already configuration done b/w windows and the portals but now i have to deconfigure it.
May i know the steps to do that.

I now have a question related to ESS configuration. I want to know how to change the Portal user's pernr assignment in the ECC 6.0 system. Somebody had actually assigned my portal user ID a PERNR in the ECC 6.0 system. But now, for test purposes, I want to change the PERNR assignment to something else for my portal user id.
Could any of you please guide me in doing these steps?

Hi Leena,
You can create a new user name with the username and password assigned to it, with the transaction SU01.
Ex : ESS_USER1
Go to transaction code : PA30.
Enter the pernr you want to assign to the user ESS_USER1 that you have created earlier.
Enter infotype number : 105
Now go ahead and click on the change button.
And assign the user name as ESS_USER1.
Then the pernr number will be assigned to the ESS_USER1 that you have created.
You can check the same when you go to the HRUSER transaction code.

Procedure
1. Open the SAP NetWeaver Administrator by either of the following methods:
       a. Use the URL to your AS Java (hostname:port) to access the AS Java home page and use the link to SAP NetWeaver Administrator.
       b. Alternatively, add nwa to the AS Java URL to access SAP NetWeaver Administrator directly. (hostname:port/nwa).
2 Go to   Operations Management   Systems   and click the Start & Stop link.
    The Start & Stop: Java EE Instances window opens.
3 Click the Java EE Application bar and select the relevant application in the Application List.
    The Portal Services pane displays the services associated with the selected application.
4 Use the buttons Start Service or Stop Service.

You can install XP under virtual machine software (Parallels, VM Fusion, VirtualBox).
And Windows 7 Pro has XP mode. XP will requires probably days of pathing after install and will be completely unsupported by MS within 1 year, but Windows 7 Pro still has great support from MS.

In case your portal has MS SQL server as its databse, then I am giving the step by step directions to achieve 90% of what you wish to do. Rest 10% you can try on your own.

How to get the Portal Page name from PLSQL?

Can anyone tell me how to get the portal page name from my dynamic page using plsql?
Apparently you can get the page id and work it out from there, but my calls to get the page id are not returning any values anyway.
My code for attempting to get the page id is below.

Few clarifications -
1. wwpro_api_parameters cannot be used to get default portal
page parameters such as '_pageid', '_dad', '_schema' etc.,
2. Page information can be obtained through any components which
are available in that particular page. For example, in case of
dynamic page, we need to publish it as a portlet and add it to the
page. This process creates necessary packages in the DB, but we
will not have access to the portlet methods.
So, I would prefer creating a simple DB provider & portlet and access
page title from its show method as follows -

provider_id = p_portlet_record.provider_id;

Secondly, usage of wwpro_api_parameters.get_value method is
incorrect. This method expects two arguments -

p_reference_path would be something like 99_SNOOP_PORTLET_76535103 and not some type of path as its name suggests.

How-to hide the portal file shares on Windows

Hi,
Does anybody know how to hide the default file shares created by SAP NW 04 in windows?
In other words: what I'm trying to accomplish is renaming the sapmnt share and saploc share (both on the E:\usr\sap\ folder) to sapmnt$ and saploc$.
I know how to do the Windows part, but where and how do I configure the SAP Web AS part?

Thanks for all the feedback. However, this still does not fully work.
I tried hiding the folder but it in fact only hides the folder, not the share itself. I'm trying to do the opposite, hiding the share (making it an administrative one) whilst not hiding the folder. With the folder hidden, the startup framework (NW 04 EP6 SP12) does not work.
By the way: checking / tightening access is not an option: security architects dictate what needs to happen here and unless I have VERY good reasons I should comply to what they say: change saploc to saploc$ and change sapmnt to sapmnt$.
If anybody has anymore thoughts, I'd be very interested.

How to execute the Portal Activity Report

Hello,
In the System Administration -> System Configuration-> Service Configuration Editor
Under Applications->com.sap.portal.activityreport.core-> Services->ActivityReport and I have configured the report.
I saved I have restarted the service to effect the changes and in Portal Catalog
Application->com.sap.portal.activityreport.core and I have administrated the changes. The Application Details Editor is displayed.
I have clicked the Restart the portal also.
I would like to know how to execute this Portal Activity Report after making this configuration.
Can anyone help me.

here an example with steps:
1. Navigate to Content Administration -> Portal Content
2. Step into a test folder and right click on the folder to create a new iView
2. Select the template "Portal Activity Report iView"
   Name: Daily User Logins
   Technical Name: DailyUserLogins
3. Open the newly created iView and define the following parameters
   under "Specify report content"
      Start of Reporting: Date 01.01.2005 and Time: 08:00
      End of Reporting: Date 31.12.2005 and Time: 24:00
      Time Unit for Reporting: Daily
   under "Configure report options"
      Information to Report: Number of users logged on
You have created a new reporting iView, aggregating information about the number of anonymous and authenticated users on a daily basis.

I am trying to figure out a standard way to display the Portal system ID within the portal theme or within an iView. The complaint from users is that, if they are working in both Production and multiple test systems simultaneously, it is very difficult to decipher which system they are actually in.
Does anyone have experience with this previously?

Hello Charles.
A standard way is a modification of the Portal name which is displayed in a title bar of a browser's window. For this you have to edit the Central Configuration:
1. Open System Administration > System Configuration > Service Configuration;
2. In Browse Tab open Portal Runtime > Central Configuration;
3. Locate and modify portal.html.head.title property.
4. Save changes.
5. Restart portal server.

How to make the portal available on default port 80

Hello
We have installed 9iAS 9.0.2 with portal.
I'm trying to make the portal available on http port 80 via webcahce
I've managed to get the webcache answer requests that comes on port 80, but all the url's that is delivered out is pointing on port 7779.
If i copy the url's and remove :7779 from it, i still get the page that it points to.
I don't want to open for any ports except for 80 in our firewall.
How can i configure webcache not to deliver url's that points to port 7779?

 Following is the steps for debugging the portal application.
Steps for Debugging
1. Stop the Portal Server if Running.

2. Launch the Config tool of J2EE Engine & Set Up the debugging of the current instance.
 The Config tool is located in the directory ,
<J2EE-Install-Dir>\JC00\j2ee\configtool\configtool.bat
 Switch to the current instance & go to the debug tab.
 Set Enable Debug Mode checked, start the VM of J2EE in debug mode.
 Set a valid debug port, default port is 50021.
 Save the settings and restart the J2EE Engine.
3. Restart the Portal Server.
4. Open SAP Netweaver Developer Studio. Go to Window --- > Open Perspective --- > Enterprise Portal & also open the Debug perspective.
 This enables you to develop & deploy EP Components to your development Portal.
5. Configure Development Environment for Debugging.
 Create new Remote Java Application debug settings.
 Pressing the debug button attaches the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio to the Specified portal installation.
 Go to Debug --- > Remote Java Application & create a new setting for your current Portal Application Project.
 Insert the portals DNS or IP Address and the debug port specified in the Config tool, default port is 50021.
 If the portal runs on the local machine you can enter localhost instead of IP address or DNS name.
 Make sure that your Portal Application is already deployed in the portal.
6. If the connection is attached to the J2EE engines VM session, the SAP Netweaver Studio is ready to debug.
BREAKPOINTS
A Breakpoint causes the execution of a program thread to suspend at the location here the breakpoint is set.
7. Set a breakpoint in your custom coding. The debugger will stop if the VM reaches this marked code line.
To enable the breakpoint,
 Locate the breakpoint in the marker bar of an editor.
 Open the breakpoints context menu & select Enable Breakpoint.
 The breakpoint image will change back to a blue circle.
VARIABLE VIEW
The variables view contains information about the variables in the currently-selected stack frame.
8. To Launch the Variables View :,
Choose Window -- > Show View -- > Other -- > Select Debug -- > Variables View.
9. Force the Portal to execute your deployed coding. The VM stops at the specified break point.
10. The current values of the member variables can be tracked in the Variables window of SAP Netweaver Developer Studio.

I have a requirement to change the user password from a web dynpro application which is available on a mobile device. Firstly User will log into the portal through a mobile device and after getting authenticated user will be redirected to the mobile application. Within this mobile application there will be a link to change the login password(Portal login). Can somebody tell me how can i change the portal login password from a link available within the mobile application. Looking forward for a suitable reply.

Thanks for your reply..but i would also like to know can we directly use the Change Password Iview "persoUserPassword" from the portal. Can i directly Pass the URL of this iview from the portal to a "Change Password" link in the web dynpro application, so that when the user click this link he should be able to see this Iview on his/her mobile device and should be able to change the password from there. But i dont know whether this iview will appear properly on the mobile device or we have to have a custom web dynpro application for this purpose...Please reply with a suitable answer.
