How to default dates (being date and enddate)

Dear Freinds,
I have one requirement i want to default the dates on the selection screen for the report
RPTQTA00 . Please could you let me know how to achieve this , it would be great help.
The report has to be scheduled background and it has to be executed daily so the start date and end date has to be changed .
i e if they are running the standard report the begin date should be today date and the enddate should be one year from today .
So if any body could let me know where i can default the dates for the standard report , then i can put the logic . Please help me in this regard Little urgent

As per your logic i have used the submit program and i am able to default the dates and able to view the dates , that is perfectly correct . Now if run the standard report it is giivng me the ouput ..so the foreground concept is working correctly.
Now if iam scheduling the report of the custom report (z program) where iam calling the submit program
it is just scheduleing and further when i look at the job it is getting the job finished . However , i will not find any spool because the standard report has not been executed , with my custom report (using the logic with submit program) i am calling the standard program .
so could you please let me know how the standard program will execute and get the spool genereated?
because i have executed only the standard report in background i can see that it is being exceuted spool as well, however when iam calling from custom program no spool is created because my custom program only submiting the standard report and it is not executing the standard report in the case of backround ...because when iam running the custom program in the Foreground it is calling the standard program and getting the values defaulted based on the parameters which we pass , so it gets defaulted later iam running the standard program manually .
So please could you let me know how will the standard program also gets genereated in the backgroung along with my custom report.

How to compare Date and Time together?
For example in a database table there are two fields rundate and runtime. I want to compare these two with perticular date and time in the program. Like, I want to pull all the records where the records's date and time are less than a perticular date and time in the program.

I am getting current (todays) date by using below JS in some flds, and by using below FormCalc for some flds into my_form,

But, i dont have much idea that how adobe is getting this date? For my company this is the very first form, hence they are asking me how adobe gets date and its format whether,
1) From local IP/Interner provider address's date, format?
2) or user PC/laptop's LOCAL settings date, format? if so, for example, if Germany user (Laptop settings) has a DD.MM.YYYY configured, if this user comes to US on a busines trip and if that user opens the form, then how the date looks like for this user? as per user laptop settings DD.MM.YYYY or local internat provider date format MM//DD//YYYY?

the date() function returns the number of days since 01.01.1900 for the local date of the current system (related to the system clock of the OS).
If you travel from Germany to the US but don't update your date/time settings, then it returns the same date in the US as in Germany.
You can check the behavior by changing your local date/time setting or the timezones.

How to Exchange Data and Events between LabVIEW Executables

I am having some trouble determining how to design multiple programs that can exchange data or events between each other when compiled into separate executables. I will layout the design scenario:
I have two VIs, one called Status and the other Graph. The Status VI displays the serial number and status of each DUT being tested (>50 devices). The Status VI has one timed loop along with a while loop that contains an event structure. If the user clicks on the DUT Status Cluster the event structure needs to pass the serial number to the Graph VI. The Graph VI when called fetches the records for the DUT based on the Serial Number and time frame. This VI is a producer/consumer so the user can change the time frame of the records to display onto the front panel graph.
I have a couple reasons the VIs need to be separated into independent applications. One being the underlying database fetches tends to slow the threads down between the two VIs; the other is that they may be distributed into separate systems (don't consider this in the design criteria).
I have been researching the available methods to pass the serial number to the Graph VI. My initial idea was to us a command line argument, but this does not allow the Status VI to pass another Serial Number to the Graph once it has started (I do not want to allow the user to execute multiple Graph applications because the database query can load down the server).
Is there a program method that I can implement between the two VIs that will allow me to compile them as two executables, and allow the Status program the repeatedly send an updated serial number event to the Graphs program.
I have reviewed many methods; Pipes (oglib_pipe), Action Engine, and Shared Variable. I am not sure which method will give me the ability to use a Event driven structure to inform the Graphs program when to update the serial number. Any suggestions and tutorials or examples would be greatly appreciated.

I have used the Action Engine (aka: functional global) approach for many years and it works well. Something to think about is that if you make the event's datatype a variant the only code that will need to know the actual structure of the event will be the function that needs to respond to it. Hence, a single event can service multiple functions.
Simply create a cluster containing an enum typedef that is a list of the functions that the event will service, and a variant that will be the function event data. From anywhere in the code you can fire the event (via the functional global) by selecting the function from the enum and converting function specific data to a variant. On the receiving end the event handler uses the enum to determine the function that is to get the data and sends the variant to it. The event handler doesn't know or care what the actual event data is so you could in theory add new functions without modifying the event handler.

How to collect data and store data through printer port usind Dev'6i

Hi,
When we make a phone call through a PABX machine, the PABX machine print the call's detail if it is connect to printer. Let us assume, the PABX machine is connected via the printer cable with a PC at it's printer port. Now, the data sending by the PABX machine is reaching to PC's printer port, I would like to collect those data and store in a file(of any format) using Developer 6i. Is that possible? If yes, then how? Do I need to use any ActiveX control? Or is there any other way?

I also need a solution to this problem. But it may require sequance / format of information being sent by weigh bridge to the COM port. Normally the W/b company has their own format of information. We might have to change the COMP port speed also .e.g 9600 BPS, 2400 BPS etc.

i'm using EP 6.0 SP9 patch 1.
As you know, default trace is written in the <SID>\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\log\defaultTrace.X.trc.
By using the default trace formatter, it shows like the following sample messages.

I use the standalone Logviewer to read the log files. Works great.
"If you have an SAP Web Application Server Java 6.20 or below you may also get a standalone_logviewer.zip file at the SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/download → SAP NetWeaver → Release 04. In this case JDK version 1.3 or higher must be installed on the system. The java version must be same on the server and the client.
In the SAP Web AS Java 6.30 installation a folder named logviewer_standalone can be found under: <path Of J2EE installation>/<SysID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/admin/logviewer_standalone. Verify that the batch file logviewer.bat is installed in the directory logviewer-standalone.

However, the file names of the images have the date and time appended by default. Is there a way to eliminate the date and time in the images' file name? Please help.

It may help if you paste your code and file to better understand what is it that you want to remove from the file. If you have the vision development module, you can certainly use the File VIs available within the vision tools utilities palette in LabVIEW to manipulate the way you save your files.

XI Sender file adapter - How to process data and control files.

Hello all,
I have the following requirement to fulfill: I am using an FTP client (XI Sender file adapter) to retrieve data from an FTP site. To make sure I am not picking up a data file that is currently being written to, 2 files are actually present on the FTP site (for each data file):
1. abc.ctrl (control file with no data in it. Indicates that the data file has been completely written).
2. abc.dat (actual data file).
I want the file/ftp connector in XI to retrieve the data file (abc.dat) only if the control file (abc.ctrl) is present. After the processing of the data file is finished, both files (.dat and .ctrl) should be deleted.
Is there an elegant and robust way to accomplish this?

Hi Yves,
in my opinion there's no problem with files currently being written in combination with a polling file adapter because the final file name should be available only when the file is transferred completely. I'm using different file sender adapters very often and never had any problems. After picking up the files I move them to the corresponding archive folders mentioned in the adapters so that a second processing cannot occur.
