How to default to "All Inboxes" when opening Mail app

I just upgraded to a iPhone 5s, but I was having this issue also when I was using my 4s.  I never had problems until I upgraded to iOS7.  I routinely get mail to all my email accounts and would prefer that when I open the mail app, that it opens to "all inboxes" first rather than the inbox of the first account listed.  A little history....
4s - my default email account was set to Gmail, but when launching the mail app, it ALWAYS opened to the inbox of my first account listed...Exchange.
5s - I have deleted the Exchange account, but the mail app continues to open in the inbox of the first account listed, which happens to be my default account...Gmail.
When I shut down the mail app, I ALWAYS go back to the "All Inboxes" screen, but when I relaunch mail, it continues to open in the inbox of the the first account listed.
I've read through other threads of people having this same issue, but any fixes mentioned seem to be 2011 or earlier.  So obviously, this has been happening for some time on other versions of iOS.  Is there a real, CURRENT, fix to this issue?

Allan,
Yes, you are correct in everything you said.   I should have been more detailed.  My apologies.
I want my mail app to open to this screen, which it used to.  I was referring to it by the incorrect name.  Not all inboxes but to all my mailboxes screen (see image).  Leaving the app open on this screen, moving to another app, and then returning to the mail app is fine.  However, when I close mail and relaunch, it will open to the inbox of the first account listed, which is Gmail.
I'd like to add, Allan, that you acutally made me away of a possible solution to this issue if no true fix isn't available.  I like this screen because I get to see how many messages are in which account and prioritize accordingly.  However, I could do as you suggested and keep my mail open to "all inboxes".  I see all my mail, but I can still decide which messages to prioritize without reading them.  It isn't THE solution I was looking for, but is  A solution until Apple fixes it.  Thanks!

  • IOS4 reloads and repopulates all emails when entering Mail app

I'm having similar, but somewhat different issues with my email since updating to ios4 on my 3GS. I haven't been able to find others with the exact same problem, hence the new thread.
    Here is the issue:
Since upgrading, every now and then randomly, when I enter the mail program, it will start to _re-populate/re-load all of my emails from scratch_, as if my 2 email accounts were just created and I am going into it for the first time. I will see "downloading 400 messages" (I set it to 200 maximum for my 2 email accounts). My 2 email accounts are set up as enterprise -- one is Gmail Enterprise and one is my work account.
Needless to say, this is not only a HUGE battery drain but populating 400 messages is painfully slow not only on WIFI, but can completely cripple the phone on 3G. It takes about 20 minutes EACH TIME for all of my folders/inboxes to reload and populate with all of my emails, finish indexing and and threading.
This is a MAJOR issue, Apple. Email is at the heart of how I, and most people these days, communicate with friends and coworkers.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

YES, YES, YES, TomLapple! I have been having the EXACT same problem as you! My phone and mail worked just perfectly fine until Apple decided that it needed to update the software. Everything has just gone south since I've upgraded.
I have set up my work email on my iPhone 3G and since the update, it downloads literally EVERY SINGLE EMAIL in my account - including emails that I started receiving since July 2007 when I first started working for the company. Yes, I said 2007. That means that anytime I open up my mail on my iPhone, it says that there are more than 4,000 emails to be downloaded. I have actually (stupidly) started the process of trying to download and delete them all several times. A couple of times I've deleted them down to 2,000 and today managed to get down to around 900. What happens? For some strange reason, the phone appears to stall and blinks off, going straight to the black screen with the silver apple. When the phone restarts again, I go back to my email and what is waiting for me but all 4,000+ emails. I am so frustrated I want to pull my hair out. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this problem? Many people have said that restoring the phone does nothing to help.
I've also noticed that my battery can no longer take me through the day. That really upsets me because I could charge once in the morning and it would be fine until I got home that evening. Now the battery is drained within hours, even with me doing exactly what I've been doing in the past. Call me crazy, but I almost feel as though Apple is deliberately making this hard for everyone so they'll want to upgrade to the iPhone 4. Apple, MAKE SOME PATCHES TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!

  • How to show all regions when opening piano roll?

    hey,
I want to be able to see all events in all regions when opening (not toggling!) a piano roll. I just switched from version 5 (yes, 5) to 9. It used to be like this: you deselect all regions and then just open the matrix editor (that's how the piano roll was called in ancient times).
If I do this in 9, the piano roll shows nothing. If I select all regions and open the PR, it shows only one. If I select one region, open the PR and then go back to the arrange window and select all regions it does show all info in the PR but this is a bit of a not-very-efficient work around.
    Anyone any idea?
    grtz
    Janco

double click a region, then highlight the ARRANGE window and type command + a. It is essential to choose all regions this way not as you mentioned by choosing all by hand. Remember that when you doubleclick a region Logic highlights the PIANOROLL. So you have to highlight the arrange window by clicking on the bar just below the main tools or in other words, just above the ruler (I don't know the exaqct word for it but I hope you know what I mean.

  • Make iPhone default to "All Inboxes"

This is really very annoying.  After updating the OS on my phone it won't default to "All Inboxes".  It defaults to the mail account at the top of the list of accounts.  I've tried removing all the mailboxes but even then it doesn't default to the one I want anyway, doesn't matter the order I put them in at.
Apple please fix this, it's sooooooo flipping stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm at the latest release but this started happening somewhere aroung the 4.1 release.

how do I take all inbox messages [ 3000 ] and deleate all at one time ?

Go to icloud.com, open Mail, then select them in batches (click the first message, scroll down, shift-click the last message) and press your delete key.  The server usually has problems deleting that many at once, so you should try a smaller number, say 500, and delete them in batches.

You must remember the code, if you can't then take the phone and proof of purchase to an Apple Store.

  • How can I automatically open Mail.app message attachments after downloading

The subject says it all, I think.
    My wish #1
Automatically Opening Mail.app message attachments after downloading
    My Wish #2
At least having the Finder automatically default to the folder I just downloaded to after completing the download.
Is this an option in Leopard, at least?

Very clever. But unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Tiger.
Then again, I stil presume that when you do that, a ile is still downloaded and appears somewhere on your hard drive. If you "save as" the file opened by preview, you probably still need to go back to the place where the file was saved and delete it.
Then again again, if Preview is peeking into a Word or Excel attachment, it may not actually be "downloading it" first?? Strange. If it was a jpg file attachment, on the other hand, it seems more likely that some sort of file would be downloaded to the hard drive as a result of that drag and drop of the paper clip.
I did find that drag and drop capability interesting, though. Even in Tiger.
Oh well. I have to start looking at scripts.
When I downloaded that Automator application that was supposed to "close all open applications", I was surprised that it didn't work. Says it works with TIger. ???
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/
Was I supposed to import it into Automator as an "action" and save it as an Automator application and then open Automator and click "run" for that action each time I wanted to use it? Seams a bit cumbersome.

  • Has anyone solved the problem with " lagging " response when opening nay app ?

since " upgrading " ( if you can call it that ! ) to IOS7 on iPhone 4, everyone is complaining about the delay when opening any App. At the Genius bar at Apple store they referred to this as " lagging ". After a quick diagnostic of my phone, they suggested a full Restore. Big waste of my time and data. No change whatsoever. I had to go through the full process of syncronizing music and photos and resetting everything.
I also talked about the new Calendar and especially the Reminders. The new Reminders App is quite simply horrible and no longer attractive and consequently a useless Icon. Even the calendar is labor intensive. I tried to register a future doctor's appointment and the receptionist finally said " Why dont I just call you a day befpre ? ". How Apple managed to make something so simple so complicated is beyond me. The rotary calendar anc clock is a joke.
It bears repeating, Apple makes too many unnecessary design changes, I dont want to have to invest all this time going to work shops to figure out what they have done with basic apps, especially if its to find out what I already figured out.
I would however like to know what Apple intends to do about the lagging. I have another 18 months on the iPhone 4.

No. It was designed to work that way.

  • How do I get ALL of my sent mail into apple mail?

Just got a new hard drive after Genius Bar said it was failing this week.
After they re-installed Snow Leopard, I moved my data from Time Machine back-up to my MacBook Pro. During this process, the mail import wizard kept crashing (Assuming there was at least one mbox file that either was corrupt or something?). So, I dumped .plist file, opened mail app and starting re-building all my folders one at a time using the 'rebuild' function.
But, the rebuild function did not grab a separate sub-folder in Sent Folder for my work POP accounts called 'Messages-T0x10bc0cb00-1KEwvh' - all of these have sent mail from the last two years. Everytime I try importing them, mail app crashes.
    A) How do I get these emails into my sent folder for this POP account?
    B) Why is the import function crashing? (The console keeps saying Can't get profile to fetch realms edu.mit.kerberos.krb5kdc Throttling respaw: Will start in 10 seconds)
    C) How do I know if "Rebuild" function didn't grab some other folders - do I need to manually find those sub-folders?
    Thanks so much.

Figured it out!  In Outlook, right click on your iCloud inbox folder.  Click on IMAP folders.  You have to manually subscribe to any of the folders that you want to sync.  I had about 20 and I had to manually type them all in...but...it works now!

Next within the GO options, select the 'Go to Folder' option. You will see a window open to enter text.

I dont think this is energy-saver related.

The problem with that is, it's hard to put it back together without assuring that you're not pinching the cable again.
    Instructions can be found here.
As he says, the cable can be found at Small Dog Electronics:
    http://www.smalldog.com/product/43417
If you need replacement feet, they can be found at MicroDoc.
The specific link you need on PowerBook Tech's website can be found here.
If it looks like too much for you to handle, you may want to check out DT & T Computer Services. Perhaps in a metropolitan area like Austin you can check the Yellow Pages and find a technician willing to match the price.
At one point, DominionTech in Colchester, Vermont was offering the repair for $79.90, but I'm not sure if that price is still available.
    Good luck.
