How to define a data carrier type "archive" in DMS

Hi, experts.
In order to intgerate DMS and ArchiveLink(Check in origin with ArchiveLink), i want to define a data carrier type "archive" in DC20.
I have already defined a content repository 'Z2' in OAC0, but i can't enter 'Z2' into the field-data carrier,
error message: You cannot use data carrier Z2 - try displaying possible entries
Message no. V&021
and the only possible entries is 'MA'
which type content repository could be used as data carrier type 'archive",
or there are some steps that i missed?
Here are parameters of 'MA' and 'Z2':
MA ARCHLINK SAP System Database 0046 ma
Z2 ARCHLINK HTTP content server 0046 Test

i think iam also in the same confusion, any suggestion regarding this is eagerly welcome.
i have some specific senario in DMS where the Client needs to store the DMS Original Files in SAP Archive Server through SAP Archive ink,
here if i configure a part of Archive Server, so as to store the Original application files of DMS,
say ZDMS_Arch01, ZDMS_Arch02, ZDMS_Arch03.
ie.. if i configure Archive server as a Storing medium for DMS Original Files, will it appear as an Option to be selected for storing the original application files,
just like as we get the list of storage catagories to store the Originals like DMS_C1_ST or any content server Storage catagory (clicking Check in original, in CV01N transaction
any one who have configured this please Clarify.

hi Kiran,
Data carrier is to achive communication between server and user front end. We can define one data carrier type along with path as default for all or seperate data carriers type for specific users in define data carrier in SPRO. This defined data carriers again we assign to application in defining network for workstation application in SPRO.
By using data carrier we can upload to & download originals from server. We can change and print the documents from server.

Data Carriers and Data carrier type

Hi Sap Gurus,
Pls let me know is there any necesssity of defining any new Data Carrier types other than PC,
if so at what circumstances and requirements,
also pls throw some light about data Carriers, when is the new data carriers required to be created

as you have Explained,i assume it is mainly used to store a local copy or extra copy of the Original application files in the system which we use to View them, or if we feel to store the copy in any other system also.
Example Say there are 3 systems S1, S2 and S3
if we are viewing an original file in System S1 and want the same Copy to be stored in System S2 or S3.....
then this data carrier configuration is required if iam right?
But Sir apart from this funtionality can i also know the SAP definition purpose, as it defines data carrier type as below

Hello Vinod,
One thing to check in the customizing settings is your "Place File in Storage System" option. If you have selected the option to Store before deleting, the archive file will not be available for selection within the delete job until the store job has completed successfully.
As for where your archive file will be stored - there are a number of things to check. The archive write job will place the archive file in whatever filesystem you have set up within the /nFILE transaction. There is a logical file path (for example ARCHIVE_GLOBAL_PATH)where you "assign" the physical path (for example UNIX: /sapmnt/<SYSID>/archivefiles). The logical path is associated with a logical file name (for example ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE_WITH_ARCHIVE_LINK). This is the file name that is used within the customizing settings of the archive object.
Then, the file will be stored using the content repository you defined within the customizing settings as well. Depending on what you are using to store your files (IXOS, IBM Commonstore, SAP Content Server, that is where the file will be stored.

How to define a generic structured type (deep structure) w/o LIKE

I have been trying to define a generic structured type that would include a component (field) of type "table type".
Look at my type [ty_compatibilite]. It is the structured type that needs to have a component called "mobile" which needs to be an internal table. I have tried to create a genereic table type called tt_mobile (based on ty_mobile) but that did not work. I have not been able to avoid using the LIKE command to make it work.
Any suggestions on how I could define my component "mobile" without using a "LIKE"... ?
Here is my code:

          ref_mob_sfr    TYPE zmobil,
          ref_mrq_sfr    TYPE zmarq,

define key or use default one:

If you don't specify key the type is treated as generic

First Move that Excel Sheet Data to Internal Table Using Function Module ALSM_EXCEL_TO_INTERNAL_TABLE.
And you can insert that internal table data to Database Table Using INSERT Command.
First upload Data From Excel Sheet to ITAB with Required Structure. Once the Data Comes...
And Declare another Internal Table (ITAB1) Type Database Table name.
And Use Insert Database Table From ITAB1.

I have a requirement in my project, where in i have to create some new date rules. I've searched the whole web to find any document which explains the XML for Date rules but couldn't find any. Does any one know what that XML means, and how to create new Date rules ?

it just calculates new dates base on reference dates or abap function modules.
In IMG in Date management node you can create your own date rules.
Best would be to copy existing one and than modify it.

How to define Legislative Data group in HCM Extract?

Can you please share the steps to define Legislative data group in HCM Extract ? During creation of HCM extract, I didn't find any option to define the Legislative data group , so my HCM Extract is created without having the Legislative data group and for that reason, I am not able to use extract rule Fast Formula (under a Legislative data group) in HCM Extract.
Any suggestion would be helpful to me.

Hi Sharmistha,
Once the extract is created there is no ability to add the LDG. A workaround i to export the extract and import it back inot9 the application - the import screen has LDG field.

How to Define a Data Source in a Standard Way for EJB 3.0?

I have an EJB 3.0 project that I want to deploy to different kinds of servers. I got it to work for OC4J, but when I tried to deploy it to JBoss I found out really quick that there are actually no data sources defined in my EJB Jar and that JDeveloper does not (that I am aware of) define data sources by default in a portable way.
I could be wrong on this. Not sure. Any info for explicitly defining data sources for EJB 3.0 in a portable way would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I am confused about is how to link the EJB and the data source name. Unless I am missing something obvious, I can't find a configuration setting that explicitly states that my Entity EJB uses XYZ data source (when using OC4J). Where is this defined? Also, what configuration do I add to to my EJB or other file to link it to the JBoss defined data source?

How to define field of number type in ecs file

Hi B2B Experts,
I need some help. In the detail record of my ecs file, i need to define a filed as number. Basically the data coming in the data file is a dollar amount. It is a number type.
The number length maximum length is 6, The spec file says that field should be like below....
9(04)V99
The data came in the text file as 013100, so according to the business it is like 131.00 but as i defined the field as string, it is taking it as 13100. I want to define that field as a number type and it should consider keeping that number with two digits precision i.e.,decimal part. Please help me in this regard.
I believe i should define the type as number and the i dont know what to keep for the format ?

What are your requirements? If I understood it correctly, you will be getting data without decimal and you want B2B to add decimal accordingly. If this is the case then I don't think it should be done at B2B rather this should be performed at middleware.

How to update a Date attribute type?

I have several Date attributes in some categories that I need to update with the Oracle Content API.
I saw that OCDB returns a GregorianCalendar object to retrieve the date value, but I can't update it with the same object, I used this java code:

The date is in format dd/mm/yyyy so I parse it with StringTonekizer and passed to GregorianCalendar constructor, but I always receive AggregateError at updateDocument moment...

Convert the Calendar to a Date object and return this to Content DB.
e.g. Item doc = ...
Object value = CommonUtils.getAttribute(doc, Attributes.CREATE_DATE);
