How to define "C" class material in material master

I want to take the report of "C' class material procured for the business.
please let me know where we need to mention "C" class in material master and the procedure.

In the MRP1 view of material master, you will find the ABC indicator field at the plant level.
You can mention C class there.

Eg: Ford car.If a sale order is raised for fiesta lxi model the system should choose red colour & for vxi blue colour respectively.
ie you need to define the characteristic and assign the values .
This characteristic need to assigned to class.
class need to be assigned to material master
1. T.code : CT04(characteristic) FORD_MODEL, Choose single value & entry required tab & give the input as 01 - fiesta_lxi & 02 - fiesta_vxi.( characteristic values)
2.Tcode: CT04, FORD_BODY( another characteristic)
Choose single value , don't click entry required.
01 - Red( characteristic values)
02- Blue
3. Create class T.code : CL02
fiesta_class
type : 300
4. OBJECT DEPENDENCY:
T.CODE : CT04
FORD_MODEL
CLICK VALUES TAB,
IN FIESTA_LXI CLICK THE 'O' meant for Obj dependency, action & extra.
Edit the dependecy,
010 $Self.ford_body = '01'. & save
Repeat the same for FIEST_VXI & instead of '01' give '02' for blue colour.
, then create a ROH as ford_body. & a KMAT material for the car. .
Then create a Super BOM with usage 3 & give component as ford_body
Then use T.code cu41 (Create config profile)
enter a profile name & class 300 & choose class assignment, choose fiest_class ,
Use T.code cu50 to check the values.
Then create a sale order.

How to define product revision numbers in the master material data

Hi,
is it possible to define product versions or revisions in the material master data.
Example: A product is produced and is developed on through the years. Their exists a Version 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.
Is it possible to map all of these versions to one material number or is there a versioning of products supported in another way?

User Defined Field in Material master

Can we add any user defined fields in any views in material master (preferably with F4 help)

Hi Ramachandran,
Of course.
1. If there is an existing Material Class, use it, unless modifying that class interferes with existing business processes. Otherwise create a new class using CL01. Use class type 001.
2. Create a characteristic using CT04 that represents your new field. The characteristic will be your new field name and the description will be the description.
3. Using CL02, assign the characteristic to the existing material class, or to the new one you just created in step 1.
4. If this is a new system, you will have to create user instructions as to how to maintain the field. The field will exist in the Classification view of the Material master in MM01/02/03, and the contents can be edited just like any field.
5. If this is an existing system, you will have to populate this field in all of the existing material masters. Depending on the size and complexity of data, you may have to create a Legacy System Migration Workbench (transaction LSMW) project to bring all the fields up to date.
As far as F4 help, depends on where you want to see it. Within the classification view of the material master, it is possible to establish a validation in CT04 that will require your users to pick from an established validation list when they select the F4 key. If you want F4 help in other places, you should consult your ABAP'ers, who should be able to set this up for you.
Impact of a new characteristic/class is zero. Impact of adding a characteristic to an existing class is dependent on your current use of the existing classes. Writing reports which use these data is a well understood technique within the ABAP community. Although the field will not exist in MARA table, it can still give you the same functionality as if it did.
I do not recommend that you add a field to MARA, even though this is possible. Although hotpack upgrades will leave a customer generated MARA field alone, whatever functionality you create to use this new field will be endangered with every OSS note and every hotpack upgrade you install. Since Characteristics and Classes are considered master data, SAP hotpacks pretty much leave them alone.

How to set charactersitic in material master as read-only and changable?

We try to change classifcaiton view screen variant. Our target is only one transaction variant could change the classification type z02 ,its characeristic in material master. we hope to know for such case, we could use transaction varaint to meet the target or not ?
We try to use this first, but we use shd0 and click " change in process" button, it will say " variants are possible only for dialog transactions". I checked in se93, it seems this variant maybe is not for dialog transaction .
But how to change such screen varaiant content?Any steps we should follow ?

the only way to find out for sure is if you test it thoroughly. i cannot help you there, since i don't know about your setup in classes and characteristics. you might want to try your transaction variant of several different material always trying to change the classification. there's another thing: one material might belong to n classes. test that scenario by adding one material to class z01 and z02 and check how the variant behaves ...

In my opinion, you don't have any such std table/view to update ABC Classification field. You might need to update relevant infostructure based on your requirement, such as sales, invoiced, etc..
Try with following, based on your requirement:
MC(A
SIS: Customer,Inc.Orders - Selection
MC+A
SIS: Customer Returns, Selection
MC+E
SIS: Customer, Sales - Selection
MC+I
SIS: Customer Credit Memos - Selec.

To activate this field i.e you want this feild to appear in your material master screen.You have to follow :
Logistics - General>Material Master>Field Selection>A
ssign Fields to Field Selection Groups
Here you will find that your Feild MARA-BRAND_ID has selection Group 200
Maintain Field Selection for Data Screens in this Step check fo r the Selection group :200 You will get the feild Brand there in the selection group 200.
you can make setting of the feild accordingly as hide /display /........etc

The Exchange Rate Type is used to store currency conversion rates for different purposes, in the R/3 System.
If the R/3 System is to perform exchange rate conversions between a large number of different currencies, it can be simplified by specifying a base currency per particular exchange rate type. Then specify the exchange rates of all currencies in relation to the base currency for the exchange rate type concerned.
In accordance with legal requirements, the base currency (EUR) must be defined as the From currency for currency conversions within the EMU (European Monetary Union). To do this, set the indicator in the field BCurr = From.

Hi,
You can create an ABAP query to use tables CDHDR and CDPOS tables.
Select the object values as Materials and make the date range as dynamic in the selection screen.
You can also select the table name and field names.
Based on the output field display selection you can find the person who has changed the objects.
Run the query in the background and in the output device you can put as mail and you can define the destination mail id.
This way, the changes made can be notified to the responsible user.

as the subject line says. i want to add subscreens to the material master view screen. lets suppose i have a sales view 1 screen where you can maintain the tax indicators for the material. this subscreen was hidden and could not see in the material master view. i saw that i could do it with help of some customizations but they didnot worked. so if anyone knows about this please guide me through this.

what u can do is
as per ur exmple of sales view
create a new entry of datascreen then form the subscreen of sales just write the entry of subscreen 4 i.e. for tax indicator on paper
then delete this entry
then add this entry in ur newly created datscreen
u will c ur filed of tax indicator in the new screen
