How to delete a contact group on the iPhone?

Hello!
I've been searching for a way to delete a contact group on the iPhone, but I was not able to find one. The only answers I have found tried to tell me that it is not possible to do this on the iPhone. But I can hardly believe that the people at Apple would be so stupid not to include such a thing, as there are iPhone users who do not own a computer. How should they manage their contacts?
So, would someone please be so kind and tell me how to delete a contact group on the device?
TIA,
Jan

Download Easy Group. It is totally free. Lauch it. Click on Edit. Click on red-cross next to your unwanted group. That's all. http://itunes.apple.com/fr/app/easy-group/id461469079?mt=8

does anyone know how to delete songs that came with the iPhone 6 in the music?? i tried deleting them from iTunes but i couldn't.

I know you already solved this but for future reference, there is also another setting to only keep songs downloaded to your device visible in music.
Go to Settings --> Music --> Show All Music and make sure it is turned off

  • HT204150 I have only 2 choices for contact groups on the iPhone 5, hotmail and iCloud. If I click both then I have all my hotmail contacts which I don't want. However if I only click iCloud, any new contacts I add don't show up :(

Only contacts added to the iCloud group will sync with iCloud.  To make this your default, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Contacts section and tap Default Account.  Here, choose iCloud as your default.  After doing so, new contacts will be added to iCloud and sync with your iCloud account.

  • How to delete empty contact groups on iPhone 4

    Hi,
I am using iCloud to store all of my contacts, calendars, etc.  About a week ago I had to restore my iPhone and when it was done resetting, I found that I had duplicate contacts in groups that fell under the 'On my iPhone' group.  Since I have all the contacts I want in my iCloud folders, I don't need these groups, especially after I deleted all of the contacts within them, leaving them empty.
My question is how do I delete these unwanted and empty 'All on my iPhone', 'Family', 'Friends', 'School', and 'Work' groups from my phone so that they don't appear in my contacts app at all.
    Thanks!

Hi, I have a similar problem:
There are groups that remain in my iTunes "Info" that won't go away even after resetting the iPhone and resetting via software update.
I cleared out all my contacts in the address book; went into finder - applications support - address book - metadata and deleted 4 items that have a *.abcdp extention. (except the apple address)
I even tried syncing with iCloud and using the empty iCloud database to overwrite what I have in iPhone then to my iTunes,
I tried downloading an app called Easy groups to delete the groups on the iPhone 4s ...
Still there are 4 empty Groups in iTunes.

  • How do I create multiple contact groups in the iphone?

I am syncing w/ Windows Contacts in Vista. Is it possible to create multiple groups of contacts? For example - a group for friends and family, another group for customers, etc...

I created groups and organized all my contacts into the groups using Outlook. However, the iPhone doesn't give me the option to view the contacts in groups, nor does it even mention or list the group name when you view the contacts individually.

  • Synching gmail contact groups with the iPhone

Can I import my gmail contact groups into an iPhone/Macbook?  Do I need to put them in the iContacts or some other way.  Thank you..

Found out I was using Outlook 2000. Syncing won't work unless you use Outlook 2003 or higher. I got around this by going into Outlook contacts and did the following steps under the file tab I:
    1-Export to file
    2-Comma Separated Values (Windows)
    3-Named file
    4-Saved file to desktop
Then I copied the contacts file to mobile thumb and imported them to Windows Address on another computer. From there I synced with my IPhone.
I found out Windows Address mirrors anything under Outlook. Because my Outlook is old and in the wrong format using my Windows Address will do the same thing thus I needed to copy info to another computer in order to use Windows Address. I will upgrade Outlook and see how that works but for now I have a temporary fix to problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do you add a "Group" on the iPhone

I can't figure out how to add a new "Group to the "Contacts".
    Please help.

You should probably leave feedback with Apple, asking them to add that feature (I completely agree that it is completely lame that there is no group edit support on the phone!)

  • How to get gmail contacts "groups" into the Touch

In gmail I have my contacts organized into in groups. When I sync, all the contacts show up but the gmail groups structure is not there. The groups page on the Touch lists "All Contacts", "All from my PC", etc. This is completely useless. Is there a way to preserve Google groups on the Touch? thanks

How are you accessing gmail on the iPhone?
If you are simply going to the mobile site, there is no way to accomplish what you want.
If you have it set up as POP3 or IMAP4, these only pull email, not contacts.
You can set up Gmail as an exchange account and sync contacts, calendar, and mail.

my iphone's memory is near capacity from photo albums sync'ed with my mac and I haven't found out how to delete select albums to free up memory without wiping the iphone.  Any suggestions??

You do the opposite of how you got them on your phone, you unsync the pics using iTunes.

  • How to delete a Gmail email from the iphone and have it remain on the iMac?

I use Gmail and have the email accounts set up as "imap". I would like to be able to delete emails from my iPhone 5, yet have them remain on the server. I read on the internet that it can only be done by changing the accounts from imap to pop3 accounts. However, since I also have an iMac and an iPad 3, I still want to be able to sync these so the emails can be retrieved on any of the devices.
I supose that the only way to do this is to remain with "imap" accounts. But, there may be another problem. I was under the assumption that once the iPhone reaches a total of 200 messages, it will start to delete any above this amount. In this case, I will start to lose my messages on the server. Even if this is not the case, I don't want the mobile devices to end up with hundreds of emails that I would like saved.
My question is this: How can I save the emails from the Gmail account to a separate set of folders that will archive these forever (if I choose)?  Can a folder be set up on the iMac with subfolders for each category that I want? If so, how is the actual move of the email done? Can it be copied to the new folder immediately so that later when it is deleted from the Gmail account, it is permanently saved in the new Mac folder?    Thanks

    Hello Kailua,
I know that you can mirror you iPhone's display onto a Apple TV, as can you with the Mac, but I do not think you can mirror your iPhone to your iMac.
    Sincerely,

  • How can i make contact groups on my iphone

I understand that in order to make groups within your contacts you must do it in icloud. I have backed up to icloud but some of my contacts are linked with my work account on outlook for some reason, (I did not create them on outlook, they were just added on my phone and linked to that account). Now I cannot add my work account to my home computer to sync them up is there a way to create groups another way or unlink the contacts from my outlook account to my gmail account??

Once they are in your iCloud account, they will sync with all your devices/computer sycing contacts with your iCloud account.
Also, the contacts you copy to your iCloud will not sync with your exchange account.  If any changes occur in your exchange account contacts you will have to manually make these changes in your iCloud account.  If, for example, a new contact was added to your exchange account, you would have to manually add this to your iCloud account.  It wouldn't be added automatically as iCloud cannot sync with external account.
If you still want to copy your exchange contacts to iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your exchange account you will need the “Pro” version.  If you aren't sure, start with the free app.  It will tell you if you have more than 500 contact when you use it.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your exchange account and turn off contacts syncing with with your exchange account (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your device).*
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the exchange account contacts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud, and appear on icloud.com and your other devices/computers.
    * If you don't want to turn off contact syncing with your exchange acocunt, you will need to open the contacts app and tap Groups, then tap the exchange account so it is unchecked.  This will hide them from view so you don't see duplicate contacts on your phone.

  • How to export my Contacts (residing on the iPhone)?

In the end I want to sync the Contacts between my iphone and my wife's iPad. At present we use different Apple IDs (hence (I assume!?!?) cannot sync Contacts or Calendars). I would like to switch over to her Apple ID, but before doing so Export my Contacts, such that I can merge them with hers and henceforth sync them between myiPhone and her iPad.
Any ideas, clarifications, advice, warnings! are welcome.
    Thanks and cheers
    Veit

I cannot say that these two new phones are better than the android but my new iPhone 5S looks way too premium than my old android (samsung galaxy s3). Btw, I was too lazy to transfer all the data manually from one phone to another so I did it via desktop utility
    It was quick and easy.

  • Deleting a contact group on iPhone (not using mobileme)

I am trying to delete a contact group on my iPhone and can't find how to. I do not use Mobile Me which I have read a bit about but can;t for the life of me find a way to delete the group!!

For instance, I use Windows Address Book, because I don't want all my contacts from Outlook on my phone, but you could use Outlook or another contact manager. I went into WAB, found the extra group entries, and deleted them. This does not delete contacts in the group, if any.
Then on the next sync, they were corrected. If you have spurious ones left over from another sync method, in iTunes , choose "info", and down the page under "Advanced", "Replace Info on this iPhone", Choose "Contacts". On the next sync, it should look right.
