How to delete a song permanently on ipod touch

I deleted songs using the slide technique on my ipod touch, but when i go back on, i still see the songs and the artist names. however when i tap on it, the song will not play or anything. It IS deleted, but the titles and artist names are still there faint. How do i get rid of this permanantly?

Remove it from the list of items in iTunes set to sync with the iPod, or if syncing it manually, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, find that music, and press Delete.

  • How do you get songs on an Ipod touch from your previous one?

My Ipod touch recently had a glitch that completely messed it up. As a result, I went to get another one. Typically, when we sync our ipods to the computer, everything that you've changed on the ipod is saved onto the computer as well. However, I had purchased about 15-20 songs on my Ipod touch and added about 6 or 7 new apps before it started to mess up on me, but I never had the chance to sync it in to the computer. So I'm wondering if there is a way for me to reclaim the songs that I've purchased because--well, because I've purchased them and I really do not want to pay for them again. If anyone has a legit answer, I'd really appreciate it if you posted a response!
    Thank you! =]

Here's a short and simple on the legit way since I actually had this happen to me as well.
Open iTunes, and go to the store. At the top right corner should be your iTunes login name (or "Log In"). Either way, click it and it will ask you to log in.
Once you log in (or re login), you should be brought to your account. Somewhere in the middle is an option to view purchase history. Click that.
Once it's open, it should pull up all your purchases (grouped somehow...I think by day?). Find the purchases you're looking for. And click the arrow to pull up the order (for multiple orders, you're going to do this a couple times).
The order should pull up with ALL purchases associated with that order. At the bottom is a button to report a problem.
When you click it, all items should now show a link that says "Report a Problem". For each item, click the link.
A new page will display with a drop down menu and a comments box. Pick the option "I didn't Receive this Song" and note that it was purchased with an iPod Touch that was unable to transfer to back to iTunes. Submit, and repeat for all SONGS.
For all your apps, find the apps you need to download, and iTunes will automatically allow free redownloads, which means you DON'T need to report a problem. When you finished reporting the problem, check your email box because you'll be spammed by the Apple Auto-Responses that an Apple Associate will take care of the problem. In several hours (or overnight), you'll receive a response from said Apple Associate (it will say the same thing all the time, practically automated) apologizing for you not receiving the songs. They will credit your account and you can "repurchase" that song (since you will technically receive a "gift card" on your account of 1.29 per song). That should solve your problem.

  • How can i delete single songs off my ipod touch ??

i have just sinced a few albums to my ipod touch (the one before the one with a camera) nt sure on the generation . i want to delete single songs is there a way to do this

    Don't select them to sync.

  • How do I remove songs from an ipod touch (that we never put on there)?

My daughter has a 5th gen ipod touch. When she opened it tonight, there are songs on there that we never put on it. I plugged her ipod in and opened itunes and the songs showing on the ipod are not showing up as being on the ipod when we are looking at itunes. In other words, when I am in itunes on my pc, when I click on music under her ipod's name it only shows a few songs (the ones we manually added) but not the ones showing up in the music app on the device. I have it set to manually manage music and always have. How do we get them off the ipod? I have home sharing turned off in the ipod and cloud is not enabled. How did they get on there and how do I get them off? These songs were not all bought through itunes but they are in itunes on the pc.
Also, "show all music" in the ipod settings is not on. Also, these songs were not on it yesterday. She listens to music every day using the shuffle feature and up until tonight, only the few songs she manually added would play. Now they all want to play (and it's not all of the songs from itunes either, so I'm not sure what made just these songs show up).

automatic downloads is turned off and already was. Nothing happens when I swipe left and right on songs that are not supposed to be on it (and they are also not showing as being on the ipod when it's plugged in). I don't think the songs are actually on the device but they do play when she shuffles her songs and she doesn't want that. And there's no rhyme or reason about which songs are showing in the songs list.
As for syncing, the ipod had not even been synced since we first bought it and put songs on it. The correct songs were on it the entire time until yesterday. It had not been synced at all (only plugged in to charge and itunes was never turned on while it was plugged in). What is involved in "syncing correctly"? Don't you just hit the sync button in itunes? We have 5 ipod touches in our household and have since 2009 or so, so we aren't complete beginners when it comes to them. We've synced before.
eta: for now I've created a playlist of the songs she originally wanted on there, so that she can at least shuffle through just those songs. We'd still like to solve this though.

  • No longer able to delete/add songs/playlists onto ipod touch from itunes...

Yesterday, I decided to plug my mom's ipod into my macbook to transfer some songs onto the ipod for her. After transferring songs onto her ipod, using my macbook and itunes, I plugged my ipod back in to sync and delete songs. However, that option is no longer working. My ipod syncs, but I'm not able to delete/add songs, playlists, etc... I tried deauthorizing the laptop and reauthorizing it through itunes, restarting my ipod and laptop, and reinstalling itunes. But, nothing seems to work. Help please!

Where can I download the latest version of iTunes 6?
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html
As noted by some others, a working flow appears to be:
    1) remove 7 using the control panel add/remove programs [some also report removing the new version of quicktime that came with 7 -- I did].
    2) find the file 'iTunes Library {dateyou_loaded7}.itl' [usually in 'My Documents/My Music/iTunes/Previous iTunes Libraryes'], copy it up one directory level, and re-name it 'iTunes Library.itl'.
    3) download and install the above version 605.
I had already installed the gen5 firmware upgrade that came with 7, and it seems to work fine with version 6, with no need to 'downgrade' the firmware.
    Your mileage may vary.

  • How do I import songs from my ipod touch library to itunes on my computer?

I am trying to figure out how to take songs from my ipod and transfer them to itunes on my computer.

    Niel,
I had to reformat my Windows partition and I backed up all of my iTunes to my external hard drive and I need to transfer them back. Also when I backed them up they were created in 8.0+ version. Would I need to get iTunes to the most current version or would it be fine if I didn't. Thanks.

  • How can i add songs to my ipod touch???????

apparently apple has done another update, and a whole revamp of the original layout and i can not find ANYTHING any more. updates dont work and it says my 2000 pictures are gone and my 500 songs show as only 1 song.....which is the ONE new song i just added. what the heck did they do????? how can i upload anything?????
I promise you i will NEVER EVER buy anything from apple ever again. This has been my first and final purchase because they seem to make it soooooo overly complicated that i just want to smash the machine to bits and go buy something else.....which is in the very near future. I can get a $50 mp3 touch screen player with 32GB through walmart right now that does EVERYTHING this ipod touch does and if it breaks WHO CARES IT WAS $50!!!! Unlike the $400 i spent on this piece of crap. But the best feature on the cheap walmart one is the ability to use it and understand it!!!
So for now, because i am giving this pos to my son to play with all he wants, how do i get it to add songs?????
    Thank you.

  • How can I move songs on my ipod touch to my laptop

    Hey every one!
I have an iPod touch I think is the 3rd or 4th generation. (I think is the 4th because it has Facetime) I put all the music in with another laptop but now I want to bring it down to mine, the other one is my brother and we live in different places, both computers are mac, so I was wondering if there's a way I can transfer all the music into my computer. If I can, can I do it with iTunes? And how can I do it.. And if is not possible with iTunes, then how can I do it.
    I appreciate all your help.

  • How to delete calendar and contacts from iPod Touch

I have sold my iPod Touch and did a restore before I send it to the buyer. I was able to delete everything except my contacts and calendar info. I have the software upgrade and do not want to lose this! Other than going in and deleting each item one by one, is there another way to get that info off of the iPod. And, I did uncheck all of the boxes in iTunes for calendar, contacts, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The software upgrade is tied to your iTunes account, not the your iPod. It'll stay on as long it doesn't have to be restored, but once the buyer restores it, there'll be no way for him to get it back.
Still, if you completely restore it, the contacts shouldn't be on there anymore.
    Hope I could help.
