How to delete a user account??

I made a account to let my guest use it but now I don't want it there anymore. It has the standard user preferences and I don't know how to delete it. Can someone please help me? Thanks

Open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences, unlock the pane, and click on it. If it’s not a guest user, press the - button. If it is, uncheck the box to allow guests to log in.

  • How to delete Guest User Account

I just got my Mac book Pro and I'm new to Mac. I created a Guest User Account and now I want to delete it. But the - (minus) option is grey out. How can I delete the Guest User Account? I have two accounts listed right now. The Admin and the Guest Account. Thanks for your help.
p.s. I just found out I couldn't even open the folders under the Guest directory! How come? I am the Admin and should be able to do that. What did I do wrong? Help!!!

I should also say that sometime in the future you might have a problem with something, and one of the first things you should test is, do you have the same problem in another account, so having a Guest Account is a good thing.
You just log in as Guest and test to see if you have the same problem. So it might be a good idea to leave it active, for it takes up very little space. I always have more than one Account, and this new Guest Account sounds good to me, I like the idea that everything is deleted after log off.

  • Playstation 4 How to delete former User account

I need some help I just bought a second, used PS4 at our local Gamestop in adition to my PS4 at home, which I use as my primary Playstation.I already set this PS as my "primary" Playstation. As I started the used PS4 I noticed, that the former user account was still on the playstation. I can not connect to his PSNsettings, because I neighter know his email/ password nor do I know him in person. I tried to add my own account, whicht worked perfectly, then I tried to delete his account, but I can't do so, because PSN asks for his login information which I don't know.Deactivating this PS4 as HIS primary gaming console does not work as well. Four things I want to know: Is there a way to delete an existing user without knowing his/her login information? In case that ain't possible, is it a problem to simply ignore his still existing account? Is it possible to deactivate the PS4 as HIS active, primary Playstation without knowing his login?I case I cannot do so, would it be a problem to simply ignore the fact, that the now my PS4 is still set as the primary PS4 of somebody else? Thanks fpr your help!

With the power off (not in standby)  press and hold the power button on the PS4 until you hear a second beep after about 7 seconds. You will then need to connect your controller with the usb cable to navigate the menu. The options are explained in this link - https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5044/~/ps4%3A-safe-mode

How do I delete a user account I am not using to regain the space on the HD?

System Preferences - Accounts - choose account in the left panel and click the "-" button to delete. You'll want to choose "Delete immediately" to save the space (the "Save in disk image" option will keep the files in an image in your Users folder, which saves you no space).

  • How long should it reasonably take to delete a User Account?

Just got a new 27" iMac.  I made the mistake of setting myself up as a user prior to migrating from my olde Mac G5 (Tiger).  When I did migrate, I realized it set up a new user with the migrated info.  Went ahead and kept that user and deleted the one I had created.  Problem is it has been "deleting" my user account for close to 6 hours.  Is this reasonable, or do I have a problem going on?  User screen in System Preferences just keeps saying deleting user.  Won't let me quit System Preferences or Restart.
    Thanks.

I decided to let it run overnight.  Checked it this morning and it was complete.  Go figure...
Not sure what the process of deleting a user account involves, but it sure took a long time, something more than 7 hours.  I definitely don't want to have to do that again!
Thanks for the response, I was going to go that route if it wasn't complete this morning.

  • Can't delete old user accounts from iBook (G3 - Darwin 6.8)

    Hello,
I'm having a pain of a time trying to remove the old user accounts on this iBook I was given. The accounts page in the system settings is unlocked, I click on an accountm, the click on Delete User, it works for a while, and then when it is finished 'deleting' the user account is still there, nothing has been deleted. I've try a dozen times now. I'm stumped. Can't find anything on the internet that will help.
    Thanks,
    David.

So far, I've not had this kind of issue; but did find a few directions to check to see how to go about removing user accounts... or renaming them, etc. One of the recent discussions I've read through (three pages) had some ideas that could work.
Outside of booting the OS X computer into a super-user account where you can delete Admin users, etc and probably if not familiar with unix, do some incredible damages too; I'd try other exercises first as I am timid. What version of OS X is running in your vintage computer?
In the process of 'Change Name on Home Folder' some revealing ideas came across; some may transfer...
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3366855?tstart=0
And some ideas that could be used to another end, may be found here...

However, there are no warrantees expressed or implied. Always a fine idea to read and sort information since some of the ideas available only allow you do perform the practice once correctly. Or wish you had.

  • How to delete a user in SAP-CPS Version 7.0

    Hello,
I created my users via UME ( User Management Engine of Java Application server). Unfortunately I used the wrong name convention, so I had to recreate all the users in UME. Afterwards I delete all wrong users in UME.
Than I tried to login with my new user in SAP-CPS (users are normally created in SAP-CPS during first login) but I get the error message that I reached the maximum number of 10 users allowed in the basic version. No problem I thougt, I simply delete the wrong ones in SAP-CPS. But I do not know how to delete a user! I could not find any menu item or any describtion in the manualls how to delete an user in SAP-CPS.
I remove the users from any Isolation group, I disabled all the users but still I could not find any way to delete them.
Has any body a hint for mor.
    Kind regards
    Frank Morleo

    Hello Anton,
deactivating the unused users made it possible to login with the new ones.
    Thanks for your help.
Now I have to find out how to clear the deactivated users from the list.

  • How to create a user account by mirroring another account in PowerShell (Trying to learn to use Powshell for some daily AD tasks intead of the GUI)

    Hi,
I am trying to create user accounts via PowerShell instead of the Gui in server 2008 R2 (PowerShell 2.0).
I know how to create a user account with the following Power Shell command below is one from a dummy domain I created to practice.
PS C:\Users\Administrator> New-ADUser -SamAccountName "TestOut" -UserPrincipalNa
me "[email protected]" -GivenName "Test" -Surname "out" -DisplayName "Testou
t" -Name "Testout" -Enabled $true -Path "CN=users,DC=bwcat,DC=net,DC=int" -Accou
ntPassword (Read-Host -AsSecureString "Enter Account Password")
However when doing day to day tasks where I work normally we have a new hire, they contact IT and ask that a user account is created.   I will ask who they would like to mirror.
I then would go into the gui pull up the user that they want to mirror right click him and choose copy.  This would create a new user account that I would then fill out.
I am wondering if its possible to do this same thing via PowerShell, or  if its not an option because it takes more work type up everything than it does to go into the gui and do it.
    Anyway thanks for the help.

    Hi Wilder, hi Mark,
first of all: The tutorial sources Mark posted - especially the book "Powershell 3 in A month of lunches" - are good to get a baseline start. A really great reference, especially when you try to learn it while still dealing with your daily business.
On another note, Wilder: While I fully agree that learning things sequentially is usually the best, I too jumped right in instead of learning how to walk first (though it's been some time now. Fewer years than you'd think, but still ...). So I thought I'd
give you a little aid with that function husk, so you could just stuff interesting bits into an available structure, making use of the fun tools in a useful context (It's fun fiddling around with the commands, but if you have to type in all of them manually
each time, using the GUI is often just faster. Doing fun things and being efficient with it feels even better though ...). So ... while I
do agree with yourself, learn it the Correct & Proper Way, I also do
intend to finish this little explanation about the husk, all the way to the end.
Everything below this paragraph is part of this.
    function Copy-ADUser
    <#
    .SYNOPSIS
A brief description of the Copy-ADUser function.
    .DESCRIPTION
A detailed description of the Copy-ADUser function.
    .PARAMETER GivenName
A description of the GivenName parameter.
    .PARAMETER Surname
A description of the Surname parameter.
    .PARAMETER Template
A description of the Template parameter.
    .EXAMPLE
PS C:\> Copy-ADUser -GivenName "Max" -Surname "Mustermann" -Template "Jonny.Normal"
    .NOTES
    Additional information about the function.
    #>
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Surname,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $GivenName,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Template
    ) # Create finished Strings
    $JoinedName = $GivenName + "." + $Surname
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName $JoinedName -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -PassThru
    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
This is again the same function husk I posted earlier. Only this time, I filled a little logic (the pieces that were already posted in this thread). This time, I'll not only go over each part again ... I'll do it by reposting the segments and trying to show
some examples on how to modify the parts. Thus some of it will be repetitive, but this way all the info is in one spot.
    Segment: Comment Based Help
    <#
    #>
That's the premier documentation part of a function, that teaches a user what the function does and how to use it. It's what's shown when using the Get-Help cmdlet.
Comment texts are not restricted to single lines however. For example you could replace ...
    .EXAMPLE
PS C:\> Copy-ADUser -GivenName "Max" -Surname "Mustermann" -Template "Jonny.Normal"
    ... with ...
    .EXAMPLE
PS C:\> Copy-ADUser -GivenName "Max" -Surname "Mustermann" -Template "Jonny.Normal"
Creates a new user named Max Mustermann and copies the group memberships of the already existing user Jonny Normal to this new User
... and get an explanation on what the example does when using Get-Help with the
-Detailed parameter (Explaining examples is always a good idea).
    Segment: Parameter
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Surname,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $GivenName,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Template
This is the segment that tells Powershell what input your function accepts. Each parameter of Copy-ADUser you set will be available in the next segment as a variable of the same name. You can add additional parameters if you need more information for your
logic. For example, let's add a parameter that allows you to specify what Organization the new user should belong to:
    [CmdletBinding()]
    Param (
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Surname,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $GivenName,
    [string]
    $Organization,
    [Parameter(Mandatory = $true)]
    [string]
    $Template
That's how that would look like. You may notice that I didn't add the line with
"[Parameter(Mandatory = $true)] this time. This means you
may add the Organization parameter when calling Copy-ADUser, but you need not.
    Segment: Logic
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -PassThru
    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
This is the part of the function that does the actual work. Compared to the first husk I posted, this time there are two commands in it (and some comments). First, I create a new user, using the information passed into
the parameters -Surname and -GivenName. Then I Copy the group memberships of the user identified by the information given by the
    -Template parameter.
    So, let's modify it!
    # Tell the user you are starting
Write-Host "Starting to create the user account for $GivenName $Surname"
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -PassThru
    # Tell the user you are copying Group Memberships
    Write-Host "Copying the group-memberhips of $Template to $GivenName $Surname"
    # Copy from old User
    $NewUser | Add-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -MemberOf (Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership $Template | Where { $_.Name -ne 'Domain Users' })
    # Do Whatever else you feel like doing
Now after adding a few lines, the logic will tell us what it's doing (and do so before it
    is taking action)!
Hm ... didn't we create a change in the Parameter Segment to add an -Organization parameter? Let's use it!
    # If the -Organization parameter was set, the $Organization variable will be longer than 0. Thus do ...
    if ($Organization.Length -gt 0)
    # Tell the user you are starting
Write-Host "Starting to create the user account for $GivenName $Surname in the Organization $Organization"
    # Create new User
    $NewUser = New-ADUser -Surname $Surname -GivenName $GivenName -DisplayName "$Surname, $GivenName" -SamAccountName "$GivenName.$Surename" -Name "$Surename, $GivenName" -Organization $Organization -PassThru
    # If the -Organization parameter was NOT set, the $Organization variable will have a length of 0. Thus the if-condition does not apply, thus we do the else block
    else
There! Now we first check whether the -Organization parameter was set (it's not mandatory after all, so you can skip it). If it
was set, do whatever is in the curly braces after if (...). However, if it wasn't set, do whatever is in the curly braces after
    else.
And that concludes my "minor" (and hopefully helpful) tutorial on how to use the function husk I posted :)
With this, whenever you find another cool command that helps you in the user creation process, you can simply add it, similar to what I did in these examples.
And if it all didn't make much sense, go through the tutorials in proper order and come back - it'll make much more sense then.
Cheers and good luck with PowerShell,
    Fred
